Hi Catherine! Love your baked spaghetti! I always use cream cheese in mine. It just gives that unique flavor, I think. When I made this in NJ, I never told my hubs’ Italian family about the secret ingredient. They would not have eaten it! As it was, they all LOVED it and asked for it often. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I’m certainly going to try your Bolognese!
I used your paper towel "trick" for the first time to absorb grease from cooking ground beef for chili and it worked really well. I will do this all the time from now on. Thank you for showing us this method. 💜
Reasons I love Catherine's channel. I sit here thinking what do I wanna have. I thought Baked Spaghetti. OH I wonder if Catherine has a recipe and NEVER FAIL here it is! Thanks gal! Hope you're having a great holiday season!!
This looks so good Catherine! 😍 I love baked spaghetti dishes! 😘 They have more flavor than just spaghetti and meat sauce! And they're even better the next day! 😋 I've always used cottage cheese in lasagna and dishes like that! People don't realize it actually melts. ☺️ And for me it has more flavor and a good creaminess. Another great recipe to put in the rotation! 😚 Thanks for sharing another great recipe! 🥰
Your casserole looks great! I’ve never made this because I like my lasagna so well! But you’ve convinced me to try this! Thanks for your recipes that are easy to follow and simple ingredients!
OMGosh, Catherine, spaghetti is my favorite dish of all time and this version had me salivating, and I've already had dinner!!!!! I'm definitely a cottage cheese over ricotta person.
6/4/23: Oh my goodness, this looks so gosh darn good it made me hungry watching it! I cannot wait to make it later on today and I'll use both cottage AND ricotta cheeses. Thank you for a fabulous recipe!
I 1st learned of this dish at a friends house when my kids were little, its been a family favorite in all its variations, monday night my daughter made a ravioli pie! We didnt use ricotta on a budget meal and most of the kids didnt , and still dont, like cottage cheese even when I strained and pressed it but with enough mozzarella and green can cheese it wasnt really missed.. I usually skip the layering and just mix it all together.. The gramma I got the "recipe" from called it "left over pie" because she used the left overs that were all mixed together... great video !
This looks so delicious! My family loves both spaghetti & lasagna so I know we will all just love this recipe too! Pasta of any kind just about is a winner at my house. We will be definitely giving this one a try! Thanks so much for sharing this scrumptious recipe with us Catherine! I hope you & your family had a wonderful Easter! 💜🐇🐣✝️🙏🏻
You are a wonderful cook. I'm sure it tastes fabulous! I drain the cooked hamburger really well and add no salt. Also, onions are cooked by themselves until translucent.
This is basically the recipe my mother has for Baked Spaghetti. We've been doing it this way for years. Perhaps the only difference is we don't do the bell peppers.
I have to add this to my recipes for the Bolognese Sauce, looks amazing, we all have our favorites and this will be added. Raising two boys I used to use cottage cheese to save a few pennies when making lasagna 😆Another awesome video, thank you for sharing 😋😋😋😋
Hi, Catherine I made this it was good but like you said the noodles soaked up all the sauce and it was was little dry . Next time I will use extra sauce and put more sauce in between the cheese sauce. Tks.
That looks so delicious... I could almost smell it as you cooked! Thank you for all your wonderful videos Catherine! They are uplifting, motivating & easy to follow. You've put the fun back into cooking AND baking! Happy Holidays to you & your cool family❤!
PS I'm going to call this dish Spa-gone-ya (spaghetti lasagna & it's gone ya) I like cottage cheese better too, & tell no one! Been doing your trick with the water in the jar forever ;) Now I do your soup can one too. I bought one of those side of the pan/bowl strainers... best invention! Am buying some for all my cooking family & friends. Makes life alot easier. And thank you for the paper towel trick too!! I'm learning alot from you lady... thank you!!🌻
This is an excellent recipe Ma'am. I will definitely make this, this coming weekend? Probably the only thing I will do differently, is add mushrooms(a lot)and a bit of sauce? But it will be more of a tomato-creme sauce with some parmesan in the mix! I will also use three kinds of meat? Thank you as always for these AWESOME videos Ma'am...
@@CatherinesPlates it was delicious! My husband is a spaghetti eater, he’s half Italian so he tried just a small amount, ate that then got a big helping, he was surprised by how good it was! A good pot luck item also!
That is close the what my mom does. She used ground beef, minced garlic and green pepper and onion. Then added Campbell’s tomato soup, hunts tomato paste 6oz maybe, and a can of Campbell’s beef consume and a can of mushroom slices. Then let it simmer for 3 hours to meld the flavors. She used that like you do to make many things.
Another great dish!!! Thank you Catherine!!! I would go with the ricotta. Plus, spinach. When you add spinach to an Italian dish, that makes it Florentine, from Florence, Italy And it adds such a nice flavor 😋
Cottage cheese for me. Just not a fan of ricotta. And you're right that the leftovers are usually better than the first time. Something about the flavors all having more time to come together makes it all the more yummy!
I make a baked spaghetti, but I am going to have to try this recipe. I don't layer mine and I definitely want to try that. I will be using cottage cheese, just because I love it. Another winning recipe!
I always use ricotta cheese in dishes like this. Personally I would caramelize the onion first and then add the ground beef. I just prefer onions to be well done.
Hi 👋🏽 there this dish looks yummy 😋 and it’s simple and easy thank you for your recipe much blessings 🙏🏼I would do ricotta cheese 👍🏼thx from Diana n Jose Vasquez family ❤️😘👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You don’t add any olive oil to the water to help keep the spaghetti from sticking together? My mom used to make something similar. It was yummy! Will have to try this. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
You need to add some garlic cheese bread with that that will be so delicious
