I honestly don't have a problem with all the gimmicks in the levels. What I have a problem with is that none of them are ever revisited. Like after they've introduced them they should revisit them. Like changed up a bit mix it with another gimmick
Solid even if it's late game or repeated in multiple unique ways across a level. In many Mega Man stages one or two gimmicks are present, explored safely first, then with hazards, and occasionally combined or used in unusual ways before the boss gate or during the Wily Castle.
Some of them are revisited with variation: Demolition Drain-Pipe (Mekanos 2) vs. Tearaway Toboggan (K3 2); Kreeping Klasps (Cotton-Top Cove 3) vs. Krevice Kreepers (K3 1). I agree, though, that such uses are few and far between.
Especially the GBA version. Sure it doesn’t look as good graphically and there were _some_ infuriating changes to a few levels (looking at you, Swoopy Salvo’s nigh-impossible Koin…), but a lot of issues with the SNES version were fixed- in particular, the shrunken sprites mean you don’t experience the SNES version’s screen crunch, which is vital for a lot of levels, especially the likes of Kong-Fused Cliffs. Not to mention the GBA soundtrack is full of certified bangers, especially the new Stilt Village, Cascade Capers, Nuts And Bolts, and Aquatic Ambience.
I know this is not a popular opinion, but DKC3 has always been my favorite out of the original trilogy. It's challenging but not too frustrating, and I really enjoy the vibrant aesthetics over the darker themes of the previous game. And personally I always liked the fact that each level had its own gimmick; I didn't even know people considered that a problem.
interesting , because when im playing the slower and gimmick levels i always end up thinking to myself that im not having fun , because these levels designs are not good for having fun.....
DKC3 might honestly be my fave in the series. The gimmicks are a good way to spice things up, and that overworld is amazing. Wish this game got more hype!
If youve never played through the game using strictly Kiddy, you owe it to yourself to try. Yes fully capable of handling every level (obviously except Dixie seekrits) but honestly to this day I think he the most fun Kong to control in the entire series. Only DK with Crankys pogo bounce in Tropic Freeze comes close. Bonus wholesome points: learned this by letting my lil sister have Dixie so shed play with me more often when we were little, easily was our favorite coop title.
Just want to clarify that Professor Koin and the Bludgeoning Barrel is not rated Adults Only due to adult content, it's just that there are only so many letters in the alphabet associated with ESRB ratings and "A" is the only one of the bunch that Professor Koin knows. He tries his best.
Of all the levels in that world, this one was actually the most difficult for me. Which is saying a lot in a world with lightning lookout on it. Many controllers were thrown on that world.
There's so few good level design channels on youtube, good job. I really like how you dissect mechanics from other games that aren't Mario 3D-world and Breath of the Wild 😅 Keep it up
Oh no, don't get it wrong, I LOVE DKC3. Playing it on TUFST especially feels incredible, getting that flow down, knowing where everything is and just having to execute, Kiddy and Dixie are really strongly differentiated to make both succeed at different points (even if Dixie does have the advantage like 90% of the time). There's a LOT of little nitpicks to it (Razor Ridge is just a weirdly unbalanced world) and those little nitpicks usually cause the most derision compared to just plowing through the game ala DKC1, or the better laid-out secrets of DKC2, but the whole package of DKC3 is pretty fantastic.
Could be the design or way he yells when you lose a life. Baby Mario in Yoshi's Island was a constant chalkboard nail in an otherwise immaculate title.
I can't speak for everyone, but i do kind of dislike him as well, even if i never realized it until now (or rather, it's not that i "dislike" him, he just doesn't really stand out for me in any way). So i will present my personal reasons for not liking Kiddy Kong compared to Donkey Kong: 1 - Kiddy is a worse version of DK. Basically, in the first game, Donkey Kong is the strength focused character, he's there to give that overwhelming force that Diddy lacks when facing enemies. There's quite a number of enemies he can defeat easily while Diddy struggles, and he also has the ground pound attack, which is both an extra way for killing enemies and an element for exploration (to find hidden bananas/lives in the ground). Kiddy still keeps the same element of strength... But it's much less prominent in DKC3, there's literally one enemy he can kill that Dixie can't. Aside from that, his only feat of strength is throwing Dixie into higher areas. 2 - His hitboxes. Simply put, Kiddy has a humongous hitbox, while Dixie is much smaller. Admitelly, that is also the case with DK, but DKC3 is much more focused on projectiles and fitting in small spaces than the first game, so that issue is far more present. This is made even worse by the fact his hitbox seems (i don't know if it's true) to become even bigger when he's idle and rests his arms wide open. I always find myself using Dixie just to more easily avoid danger. 3 - Character balance in DKC3 is the worst of the series. Let's look at the choices we have on each game: DKC - We can choose between DK or Diddy. Both have similar abilities, but DK can more easily defeat enemies, while Diddy is faster when running and jumping. It basically becomes a choice between speed and strength. DKC2 - This game adds Dixie, with a whole new mechanic that makes her a strong choice, she can glide to safety and as such reach many areas you can't with Diddy. However, Diddy retains his weight by being the faster character, which can still be an attractive factor for many players to keep the flow better. They also both have the same size, so hitbox is not an issue. The choice this time is between speed and safety. DKC3 - It retains Dixie with her full potential from DKC2 and adds Kiddy... Which again, is basically DK but worse. This creates a huge imbalance because Kiddy just doesn't give the same advantages as Diddy. He's a strength focused character, so the speed advantage is gone, and, unlike DKC2, the hitboxes aren't even, which is another advantage for Dixie. In the end, the choice this time is between strength and safety/speed/smaller hitbox
I really liked the idea of the level, but I HATED the execution. There were SEVERAL instances where I miraculously phased through the shield despite landing on it at a PERFECT angle. That really annoyed me and made the level needlessly frustrating. Granted, I don't remember that being a thing in the GBA port, so maybe the SNES one was just broken.
Personally I really like DKC3's level design, I agree that it tends to be very gimmicky but I think they all are fun in their own ways. There's only two that I don't like: Rocket Rush and Poisonous Pipeline. Even then, its not like I hate those levels. People act like they're unplayable but I think they're fine. In my opinion, Koindozer Klamber is a good level. Probably also quite a divisive level, but I appreciate hearing your positive opinions on it.
I'm a little late to getting around a lot of these. Been able to watch about one every other day. Busy busy December. This Is my favorite thing your channels ever done. Crash Bandicoot and Donkey Kong series are my two favorite series in gaming as far as things I grew up with in the late 90s early 2000s
When I first played DKC3, I thought it was kind of meh coming off DKC2. Not bad, but a bit of a downgrade. However, years later, I revisited the game and decided to do 105%. My opinion changed completely and, since then, I've considered it a great game alongside 1 and 2. DKC3 has a slow start but, once it gets going, it's a great time with lots of interesting level design and the same core gameplay that made the first two games great.
How you gonna do our boy Kiddy like that, bro? You forget all about Riverside Race? Dixie Kong ain't gettin' no 54.40! (My best, the World Record is 52.40) i mean, the baby monster can literally skip across the water! C'mon homie. Do our boy justice. Make a video about Riverside Race. You can even use the near-perfect footage on my UA-cam channel~♡
Yeaaaah Let's get this video to a lot of views in the first hour so that it gets love from youtube Algorithm bless this video which i liked even before watching it because it's that good Seriously, sometimes i end up pissed off because i can't like it again after watching it, fix that youtube Lots of words lots of engagement, yadda yadda

Maybe that's why I kind of disliked DK3, slow gimmicks... DKC3 is fun, but there's something about it that annoyed me, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
dude leave donkey kong country 3 alone if you don't like the game, don't make a video of it. There are a lot of people out there who love DKC3 and kiddy kong as well, so don't give negative reviews about this game.
I have read a lot of hate towards this one but oddly enough as wierd as it sounds Kiddy Kong is in my top 3 of the Kong family. First being Lanky Kong and third being Donkey Kong himself with Kiddy being my number 2.
DKC 3 isn't just slept on, it's comatosed on by the general public and the DK fanbase.
Hi
@@PorkyMinch S-Sir?! G-G-Glad to see you! Yes I a-am preform-i-i-ing my duties! Yes Everything is a OK!!!
I don't even like dkc3 that much, and I don't think it's slept on. It's been shot dead and used as a dinner table by the community. 💀

@@StuartSimon I don't consider the toboggan levels proper gimmicks since they're just the minecart levels from the first two games.
@@orsonzedd Fair enough, but are the levels they are in then breaks from the gimmick levels that precede and follow each one?
@@StuartSimon I mean probably.
Kiddy would make an interesting comeback. Its very telling that him and his brother are the only Kongs left behind after their debut games
He's grown up and is now Man Kong.
Donkey Kong Country 3 is very underrated in general. It’s not dkc2, but it’s not a bad game at all.
I could play DKC3 for a long while because there is always something different. The other 2 games get boring after a while.
Maybe 1, not 2 tho.

While DKC3 is my least favorite, I’m very happy to see that some people hold it in high regard. The game is way too slept on
1:44 Professor Layton would be insulted by the simplicity of this puzzle.
DKC3 might honestly be my fave in the series. The gimmicks are a good way to spice things up, and that overworld is amazing. Wish this game got more hype!
Thank you! This game is easily one of SNES’s greatest platformers! Just like the previous two entries! I always respect other great DKC3 fanatics!
I like to think all of the Koindozers here are the Koins you defeated along your journey.

Of all the levels in that world, this one was actually the most difficult for me. Which is saying a lot in a world with lightning lookout on it. Many controllers were thrown on that world.
The gimmicks are the reason it's my favourite in the series. Almost every level has a unique thing about it and is memorable because of it.

Man I just finished dkc 2 for donkey Kong December and you are making me want to play dkc 3 now
Why don't people like Kiddy Kong?
He's basically just Donkey Kong from the first game as a baby in terms of gameplay, right?

Kiddy kongs harmless but he is my least favorite kong admittedly.
he should've been donkey kong

I'd like this level more if the koindozer's hitbox you have to land on wasn't shaped like the roof of a Thai temple.
Just discovered your channel and love all the DKC content! Subbed!
I didn't expect one sound effect in this video to remind me of the you are dead song
I do like most of the mini puzzles, but that stage that you have to kill the rats as an elephant? I hate that one.
Apparently the actual French phrase is "Je ne sais pas"
With a P instead of a Q. An actual French guy taught me that.
Both "Je ne sais pas" and "Je ne sais quoi" are actual french sentences. They respectively mean "I don't know" and "I don't know *what* ".
Donkey Kong's Agents of SHIELD.
As a kid Koindozer Klamber was basically IMPOSSIBLE without Dixie. If I took a hit with her I'd just jump off a cliff and start over LOL

Gimmick-wise, DKC3 does throw a bit too much at the wall and never really expands up the stuff
Aesthetic-wise? DKC3 is the BEST DKC, in my opinion.
