Steve is a great, no doubt, but it should be said that one of the original founding members was Robbie McIntosh who was there first drummer on the two fist LP's and considered the backbone of the group groove and direction. He died in 1974 after which Steve became his replacement. Crazy to think the original line up are all from Dundee in Scotland
Q-TIP is one of the dopest producers to ever hit HIP HOP! So underrated! He seldom gets props for the amazing tracks he created! ATCQ will always be my favorite rap group EVER! ICONIC! RIP- PHIFE DIDOG!! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
😌🤦🏾♂️ Tip is not "underrated" at all. If you know you know. Tribe, De La, Cypress Hill, Apache, Mobb Deep, Nas, Special Ed, Buckshot, and Masta Ace (The Crooklyn Dodgers) too many dope artists and classics from the Golden Era that he had a hand in making for hip-hop music.
I love this right here . My father came back from America after a summer business trip in 1992 and came back with vhs video tapes of rap music videos he recorded for me and my bros to watch when he came back , that tape had all tribe hottest songs then, nice and smooth videos , llcoolj j, etc that tape put me on to hip hop rap till this day , he had to buy cable television after that in 1992 when he saw we were hooked on hip hop music , me as a kid from and resident in Lagos city Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
i was 5 years old in 1976 ......... i was 15 years old in 1986 .............. i was 25 years old in 1996 ..... Damn, i love the eras i grew up in, was a Teenager in, & was a Young Man in :)
Salute all the Artist's living legends still standing.. Keep giving them Flowers ...Go LL...Rock on Greg NICE..Continuous Vibes Brother's keep teaching the Young. 👍🏾👍🏾..

Do 1 about the other version of rock the bells...the 1 with more guitars and cussing....picked up a underground radio station from Grand Rapids MI in the 80's heard it when in 7th grade...Haven't heard it since.
Love what the GOAT has done from the time he stepped into the game all the way to right now in the moment. A true innovator on so many levels and helping keep ole school hip hop alive and well!
So a very interesting signature scratch Z-trip uses a lot during these samples series is the scratch in the midle of the song at certain points but without loosing the flow. The song just continues but with the scribble scratch in between. I can't really see when and how he cues up his doubled record so fast. Is he maybe using 'skip beat forward' x4 or x8? Anyone got an idea? If you follow the series, he does it a lot.
Steve Ferrone was the drummer and was black lol he was the original ?usetlove who ended up inspiring the present ? usetlove and was also one of the top session drummers. Fun fact, The AWB was practically the studio band for Chaka Khan's first solo album
@@averyt6521 The girl that's getting "crushed" is HIP HOP... all of the rappers are getting their turns twisting her. That part of the metaphor is most important. It influenced Common to write I Used to Love H.E.R.
Minnie Ripperton's "Baby This Love I Have" is the major sample of that song. While 5 others are listed as been sampled, the main flow is from Minnie's track. That Song deserves some commendation as well.
Steve Ferrone was a brother in AWB. Great drummer!
💯🥁🔥

the original line up of Awb was all white, however Steve Ferrone( drummer) joined in 75, he was black english
The Average White Band had some funky instrumentals ...they have been sampled a lot in many well known rap songs!

RIP Phife .. A Tribe Called Quest made classic music. Queens ,St Albans, Farmers, linden ,Murdock Hollis , Liberty Ave Springfield. stand up ❗
Someone give Greg Nice a podcast.
Right! His vibe and voice are dopeness

One Black Brother
This was RAW!
Check the rhyme,
I'm on flex time,
I'm dropping bombs on the city at time!
💯💯💯💢💢💢💥💥💥
SALUTE
Yo y'all dropped the ball you didn't talk about the other sample the main part of the song??
I said the same thing, the other sample is 1975 Minnie Riperton-Baby this love I have.
No woody from Farrah Fawcett...i was around that time as a 7 year old in 1976 😂
There was one brother in the band!!
L L must be enormous in person. Look at how much bigger his fist is than Greg Nice's when they pound in the beginning.
let's be real, who didn't watch Friday Foster and pop that willy? 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
How kool is ☝🏿this?
How They Forget The Minnie Riperton Sample “Baby This Love I Have” For The Second Beat?
💯💯💯💪🏽💪🏽
You on point Phife?
All the time Tip 👍
Average White Band is from Scotland! Weird fact lol
"That's that "STANKY FANGER, BANGER"💩
Steve Ferrone is black, the drummer from AWB
It was one black dude in AWB at first,, later it was two black dudes.
AWB's Drummer was a Brotha.
Just look up the band No Brother in the band
The AWB´s drummer is black...his name is Steve Ferrone
Farrah Fawcett didn't really do it for me. In '76 I was gettin' the woody from Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman.
Smh so no mention of Minnie smh the disrespect that part made the sample
This is a GREAT idea!!!
Aaaand this Is why comparatively modern beats suuuuck 😄
Why does the title give away the sample? 🤔 I mean you lose the trivia element of guessing from it. To anyone who cares besides me.
Yes...the Drummer of AWB was Black
QGTM 💵💸💰
rhyming over Minnie Riperton
The drummer, Steve Ferrone is black
1:10 yeah the drummer was black
Always thought Greg Nice and Anderson Hunt the old unlv pg looked alike
