If "$300 beanbag chair" wasn't enough to keep me away, "$60 restocking fee" sure was.
I bet you the $60 is more than what it costs them to make and ship it. They know people don't like it, so they profit even if you return it, then they probably donate the used ones to charity for $299 tax write-off. SCAM COMPANY.
Only companies that have no faith in their own product would only give a 2 week return window AND an exorbitant restock fee.

@@__aceofspades or it goes right in the trash, which honestly seems likely. They probably just tell amazon to get rid of it, because it just costs extra money finding a charity to take them; and even if they did it would draw too much attention to how many get returned.
@@mszoomy don't forget you have to get "approved" for a return, AND pay for the return shipping as well! lmao they really don't want people returning them. It says on their return section "We retain the right to deny any return request." and "Items that have been opened." are listed as "non-refundable". So basically no you cannot return them unless you haven't used it in any way shape or form, once it's opened it's yours.
what is returnable is listed as:
"Items that are unopened and are in new condition may qualify for a return.", which means if it was damaged during shipping, it's yours. It's literally a return policy that 99.9% of customers aren't eligible for.

I liked the last mode you did not comment about. There is a “drunk mode” for when you face plant yourself onto it.
That would be the only condition I would say the moon pod was worth it

I also once had a $300 bean bag, it was leather and 2m long 1m wide and it wasn't a piece of junk. This is going to be worth $15 at a garage sale soon I assume.

@@molusk4031 yes. Anything way overpriced for what it does is usually consisered junk. Equivalent of spending 3-4x as much on a badly modified car, its got all the gadgets but it's still junk, should have bought a decent BMW not a modded Honda for eg.
$15 bucks? That's only if you can clean all the debris off the liner before putting it on a clean tarp on your lawn and not letting anyone with a pet near it..

I was thinking the whole time you can get a decent recliner for 250 from big lots and you can do everything comfortably he was trying to do with this.

If you're gonna get an overpriced beanbag, get the LoveSac. Got memory foam pieces instead of those little styrofoam beads.
Plus you get to yell at anyone sitting on it, “Get your butt off my love sack!” Or “only I can touch my love sack”. WYI it only works if guys own the love sack.

An old family friend who was definitely an old school hippy type said most people under fill their bean bags but when you get a bean bag he did say you have to tune it adding and removing filling to get it to suit you. Either way a glorified been bag is not worth $300 it's got maybe $50 bucks of material and $20 bucks worth of filler and I'm being generous,
with a 60 dollar restock fee my guess it has less then that in costs so they never lose money, you know dont re-sell it they just toss it.......you might be able to get one for free it you live near the warehouse
Dude it's got like 5 bucks of material total. fabric is cheap and so is old foam peanuts.

I'm pretty sure you could get some pretty nice faux leather for $17 in material and that'd probably be far better than what they use... Hell even if they used real leather they wouldn't even be able to crack that $200 range. Also even the high end filler is about 10$, so in all likelihood you were being WAY generous; probably about $25 in material at best. Given the $60 "restocking fee" they probably double their money even if it's returned.
You have to review the Yogibo. Best ‘bean bag’ ever. It’s like a good version of the moon pod.
I agree with that Yogibo is a better choice.
I spent a lot of time researching this and it seems that Moon Pod copied Yogibo and claimed the idea as their own.
I highly recomend Yogibo, very comfortable and very easy to clean.
I wanted a bean bag for years. One that I could just fall into and it would envelope me. I'm a 5"4' women so not too hard to find something bigger than me lol. My boyfriend bought me the Large size Big Joe Fuf Foam in cobalt blue for last Christmas so it was about $200 the other colors are less than that about $140. That bean bag is the best and is memory foam instead of beans. It'd be cool of you did a comparison video between the Big Joe and the Moon Pod since they're in similar price ranges I.e $100+.
Someone gave me a huge bean bag for free once. I think it was some kind of chopped memory foam inside. It was awesome because you could sleep in it and it was as big as a full size bed. It took up my whole room but I really liked it. I would never consider buying a $300 bean bag that doesn't have something for the feet/legs. It is way too small to consdier sleeping in. It should also have a neck support since it is so small.
Try being 6'3" or so... Finding a bean bag you can fit on and not cause to explode is hard.
@@hotbam37 yeah my bean bag takes up half of our room and the other half is our Queen size mattress 😅. I had to convince him to let me keep it in there since it's an awesome chill spot when I don't want to be in bed and perfect for naps especially with the cat who'll curl in it too. I very rarely splurge large amounts of money on things you can get great items for cheap especially if they're on sale or with coupons but that bean bag is definitely the best. I was incredibly shook seeing this moon pod. I was like what's the point of this.
@@SilvaDreams yeah I'd imagine! My cousin is a football player and hes 6'7". No one knows where he got that height from cause his dad was adopted we definitely know it's not from his 5'6" mom 😂 It's literally so hard to find anything for him I think you'd have to get one custom made at that point and who knows how expensive that would be

Companies in New Zealand can get issued a warning if they're claiming an item is at a sales price when the price hasn't returned to the 'original' price in a significant period of time. Sometimes I wonder why the US don't seem to have the same customer protections we do in NZ and Australia.

We actually do have this same type of law. The FTC enforces it, but Americans have to actively go and report it when they see it, and ... We frequently don't. Americans kind of have a "Someone else will do it" attitude about stuff like this.
But yeah, if you do this and sell products in the US, you're putting your shit at risk, IF anyone actually decides to file a report with the FTC and get something done about it.
In EU you can return anything you buy online for 14 days and there can be no fees charged for that.
American law protects companies, not customers it seems.

Please review the LoveSac! Me and my boyfriend have been looking at getting one but we aren't sure yet. Similar to the Moon Pod but it's a proper bean bag chair and looks far softer. Would love to see your thoughts on it!! (I never comment but this video felt like a good place to leave this comment- been loving your content for well over a year now :) )
Lovesac is really nice if you want one. The only question is whether you want to spend that kind of money on a bean bag instead of a nice piece of furniture. But if you’re going for a certain vibe they are comfortable and sturdy and made well.
I had one of those. Absolutely loved it. It was big enough for me to fall asleep in. But beanbags and cats don't mix. Something about them is too similar to litter boxes. I eventually had to get rid of it.

Me personally. It's awesome. It does actually mold to the forms you want. I'm writing this on the moon pod right now. It really is like a very comfortable flexible chair. I'm a guy so you know.. ergonomics are important. I feel very free while my back is also well supported. The smell is there but not noticeable while sitting down in any of the positions. I think it would be more reasonable if $50 more stayed in the consumer pocket for this, but it's honestly not a cheap product. It doesn't look the way it does in the commercials but it does feel as good as I thought it would. It's more compact than I thought it would be which is honestly good because I was worried about space but it's pretty easy to store and can be really comfortable pretty much anywhere. I'm personally really happy with it. You could buy a bunch of these for a room and everyone could enjoy these.
Drew Gooden a fellow UA-camr reviewed the MoonPod and found out that on the website you literally cannot leave a bad rating. Of course the good ones post but any negative reviews will not post to the website. 😂

I really wanted one of these pups and got a Yogibo instead. I LOVE the Yogibo. It's bigger (longer) than the Moon Pod so it's actually super comfy to get into "recline" or "nap" mode. I love it when my lower back or neck is bugging me because I can get into the most supportive position and it just keeps me there. I also got their lap desk and support pillow afterwards, and they're both solid buys.

I would like to see a comparison between a “typical” bean bag and the Moon Pod.
I bought a bean bag chair at Walmart for under $50. It was comfortable for a little while but then it was too smushed. I’ve seen the Moon Pod ads but definitely wasn’t planning on dropping that kind of money.

We got the double one, it’s not as firm since the sleeve is more stretchy. It is over priced but we got it as a second “couch” since it’s smaller and we can pick it up and tuck it away. And our two kids love it.

And any product that I’m going to be laying on I certainly don’t want to be offgassing, which this thing certainly is based on how many times he mentioned the smell.

299, what a ripoff, when you can get good oldschool beanbag for maybe 60 bucks.

i remember back in the 90's , my mom bought me a bean bag couch at a yard sale. I loved that thing, it was the only thing i used to it in. Had it a good 5 years .

I just got my moon pod this last week and I got both accessories with it and I really like it.., I only wish I would have gotten it sooner. I have nice furniture in my house including lazy boy chairs bit hands down , everyone wants to sit in my moon pod including me… the price is worth it as it’s very comfortable.
I remember seeing Drew Gooden reviews the Moon Pod, clearly this thing is overpriced for what it is.

I have a Corduroy memory foam filled bean bag chair. I love it. Mine has a faux fur cover that looks like cow hide. And you can take the inside out of the cover and it turns into a queen sized “bed” that you can sleep on.

Can you please do an update on the purple pillow and purple mattress. I bought the purple pillow and it worked for me and then it started feeling different. I still use it maybe every 2 months for about about 2 weeks before it starts feeling strange and I switch to a bamboo neck roll pillow.

As soon as you said it was picking up hair, I was immediately out. I have a German Shepherd mix that sheds like no tomorrow and that's a huge nope from me.

I have this moon pod. And the crescent and the foot stool. It’s the only thing I can sleep on with my arthritis. It’s a godsend. I love it. Worth every penny.
Mine will be in soon and I am looking forward to it. Got it for a website, touch of modern for a good price.
I recently watched another youtuber review this and he called it an absolute scam because its so expencive and can easily be replaced by a good beanbag smh

What was in the paperwork envelope besides the instructions for stuffing it into the bag and paper listing 3 ways of sitting on it? Just got one and the box flap open..... Cover was under the bag but not the paperwork.
Don't watch this channel often and when he said "no preliminaries" I genuinely smiled because some youtubers make you watch a couple of minutes of nothing until you actually watch what you came for.

Yogibo is the original, it's cheaper too. We have 2 and love them

Just another overpriced trend product like the X-Chair. Wonder how many people ordered this on impulse, didn't like it, then got the surprise of a restocking fee when they went to return it. Great review.

Btw, for anyone considering getting this, Yogibo has an option that is 6 FEET and is the same price. Or a smaller one that it the same size as this and is half the price. Just sayin

Once again I really enjy the honesty in your reviews.
I am astounded that a beanbag chair can cost that much. I would assume in the UK if my guess is correct it would cost £270 or in that region. I was expecting it to have a usb charging port, a mini fridge and built in bluetooth speakers for that kind of price. It seems like a total rip off.
Special model I think does have a fridge and Bluetooth
We have an xl. It's super comfy to nap on but I tell ya, trying to get up off that thing (especially with bad knees) is a workout. My husband says to roll off ending up in a tabletop position and stand up from there. I don't know which is worse. I would never pay that kind of money for it but he's a gadget guy so...

I like the face plant at the end! I wouldn't mind the firmness of that and I like the idea, but I definitely don't like that expensive price. Maybe someone will sell a knockoff on Amazon soon at a way lower price with the same nasty odor. LOL

Hi! Thank you so much for this non-biased review! From the ads from the creator of the Moon Pod, I was very intrigued, but am skeptical about buying something on-line. I fell lucky that I came across this review, I'd have been very let down and annoyed by this product, not how I want to spend my time, and I thank you very much for your time. I paid 20 dollars for a pillow that was likely a very similar filling. It was extremely firm once you laid into it. That thing's more realistic value is 100-150. At 300 they are straight ripping people off.
Is the outer sleeve machine washable? If so, I might pay up to $100 for it but definitely not $300.
I just saw a Mood Pod TV commercial and ran upstairs to watch your review again. Too expensive, but then again, someone has to pay for all those television advertisements!
When we were looking to purchase a giant bean bag.. we were looking into buying a moon pod. Did some more research (and read some off putting things on the moonpod) we ended up purchasing a yogibo instead..

The material might have static from the wrapping or something so that could explain all the hairs on it
