    My Porsche 911 996.1 Carrera has been wrapped in white for four years. It's now properly falling to bits and I've decided enough is enough, so the wrap is coming off! But what horrors await underneath that white wrap? Will I find beautiful Zenith blue paintwork or a load of patched-up accident damage? Find out as I remove the entire wrap from my Porsche 911 and decide what to do next. This is a warts-and-all video and shows just what to expect if you plan on buying a prestige sports car that's already been wrapped!

    Porsche offers so many cool colours. It boggles my mind so many are boring silver and black.

    Looking forward to the big reveal! Looked like a Yellow colour being mixed at the end.

    Nightmare mate , I like the original blue colour , it’s very nice or rather it would have been very nice originally!😂
    Hope you get it sorted

    Looking forward to episode 2. Colour change eh?..... I saw a pic of a 996 GT3 the other day that reminded me of Bmw estoril blue. Looked stunning 👌🏻

      @9WERKSTV  5 років тому

      Estoril blue was a lovely colour on the E46 M3, can't imagine it on a 996 GT3 but think it would suit the more aggressive lines of a 991. Regardless, respect to the owner - variety is good!

      Engine bay is going satin black to help keep costs down so it won't need to come out. Part 2 coming very soon!

    I can not wait for the next video.
    But why change the color of the original paint?
    You could have done the blue and a new wrap over it.

      Thanks! Regards the colour, I do really like the Zenith blue but the colour I've gone for makes it a bit of a one off. I've always wanted a Porsche in this colour, and I figured a 996 was the best car to do this with, due to the low cost of the car. I wouldn't dare respray a GT3, for example, which I hope to own one day.

      @@9WERKSTV See my post above regarding GT3. Unfortunately i had no option. Respray or razor blade lines across the hood, bumper, and fenders. So as long as it was getting those parts done, I figured redo the stone chipped rockers too. Now the rockers are double PPF'd, a base ppf, and A second piece over that for easy replacement when it gets marred with the inevitable stones kicked back by the Cup 2 tires. Car looks amazing now.

    I wonder how much the full respray would cost on a porsche ?

    • @scuddryvr8784

      I just had my hood, front bumper, front fenders, A pillars, and back half of my rockers repainted on my 997.2 GT3. Additionally, the rear quarters were clear coated since they didn't want to just clear coat the repainted part of the rockers and A pillars. You can't blend new clear coat into existing, so the whole rocker / rear quarter/ A pillar assembly had to get new clear since its one panel. Paint was damaged when a detail shop trimmed ppf while on the car and razored thru the paint and also stone chips on the rockers. Paint done to Porsche standards by a major collision repair center. 5K for just those panels. So probably 10K if you added in doors, roof, and rear of car.

      Additionally, PPF'd and Car Pro Cquartz Professional ceramic coated. Looks like a new car!

    Hi, I have a 1998 996 and am considering deleting the rear wiper to achieve a cleaner look. I am using a plug from Alloy&Carbon off Ebay. I notice you still have the wiper on your 996. Could be a good idea for an instructional video.

    • @9WERKSTV
      @9WERKSTV  5 років тому

      Ah, the perennial debate on wether a rear wiper belongs on a 911 or not. Personally I rate them - they are handy! However, mine might be going as it might not look right, so there may well be a video on that soon. Thanks for the tip.

    • @Audidude
      @Audidude 5 років тому +1

      Phil Jones I like the rear wiper on my 996.2 C2 manual, BUT, my carelessness caused large scratch when my power washer caught it in the raised position and it flicked down with the blade armlifted out, gouging theC-pillar. I put up with it for nearly a year until the car needed a new bumper and I got the panel repainted at the same time.
