Tutorial starts at 1:30 and ends at 4:02. I found that keeping original threshold worked best for me. Additional helpful info follows: 4:33 - Scaling 4:03 - "Page" or "Document" properties (resizing) 5:54 - Adding and nesting additional images 7:00 - How to save to DXF if if you want to print and cut your file 7:58 - Importing into SheetCam (sp?)
Hi, I have a Raster image which i want to trace(Bitmap), and want to turn it into vector SVG, while i try to trace it, it is unable to trace white outline or outer part of the logo which is white, it only vectorises Blue part inside of it, so am confused how to resolve this issue..please help. Thanks :)
Hello. I'm trying to cut out a logo in my Bystronic fiber laser, I followed every step in this video exactly and when I put the logo DXF into Bysoft ( program for my laser ) I get mass allert that tells me that I have overlapping and open contours. Am I doing something wrong ?
Thank you very much.Your tutorial has been a great help but I have done as you have except I save as EPS for Flexi sign but when I open it it Flexi the images have a red line box around the image and this will not let me edit the image in Flexi can you tell me how I can remove the box ? Mark
OK, great video. So, how do you vectorize a line drawing in inkscape, so that you don't get double lines around all of the line drawing lines?? Thanks for any recs.
This is a perfect tutorial, as I am creating images to be plasma cut. BUT I am having trouble as my ..dxf image looks like hell...circles have flat spots, stray lines.... nothing I can see in inkscape, only when I put the file in sheetcam. Any suggestions?
Great video! And thank you!! Is it possible to take a color pic and turn it to a sketch format for black and white? Just curious. Again thanks for your time!!
Barb Van Schoor Barb, You'll want to turn off the fill and make sure your stroke is turned on. This will give you a outline of the object. Next you will select all and under the path menu you'll the break apart option. This will breal ap[art all the lines and allow you to select just the inside cuts and delete them, allowing you to just get the outline.
This is a very concise, easy to follow tutorial. Thanks for putting it out there!

Great Vid! thank you for the lesson. mucho appreciato.
After using the Trace bitmap (Shift + Alt+ B), I am not getting a vectorized image on top of the pixel....
Hi, Cameron
I am experiencing the same issue. Did you ever find a resolution?
@@marknoble9583 You have to click on the underlaying graphic. The software tell you at the bottom. You need to see a preview.
Every time I use inkscape I find out it can do some crazy stuff, like I'm only looking at the tip of the iceberg when I use it.
It's a very powerful program.
This was super helpful. Thanks for the tutorial!

How do you vectorise images with color? Since all this does is make it smooth and black and white.
This was extremely helpful, thx so much!!
this dude said go to youtube like we are not already on youtube. lmfao
Very good video. Thank you.

I have an elementary question...do you need a jpg that doesn't have a background to use in inkscape to cut out in metal
good job
so much thanks to you! great explanation
Excellent tutorial.
but that's black n white can you make a video with a jpeg or png that has color.
Nobody responded to that? Vector graphics are not jpeg or png. You want to draw with pixels. That is different stuff than vectorizing.
Awesome tut! Could be streamlined a bit, but an otherwise great investment of my time watching =)
please use speed 1.25 and its very good tutorial :D
Great video thanks!!!
How can you change the nodes so that just the outline is cut?

Scott Cunningham So if my image has a zillion nodes on the inside do I just keep deleting each one?
I downloaded and installed and it will not open from my desk top.
I restarted my computer and it took at least 2 mins before it open
Excellent.
Thank you for the video how i can convert this from vector to g code for Mach 3 i am starting from cero can you help thank you
Going to Mach3 requires Sheetcam. We have updated this video to inkscape training 1

Anyone know why my saved vextorized image gets destorted when I pull them to sign_master? It only does it some of the time?
