From the First Exercise; How come intercept became 0.00000398 when calculating for C. When the intercept is 0.0000035 when calculating for Vm.i don't understand where 0.00000398 is coming from. I was getting 352 for C.please reply urgently
I have already explained in video. This is just because 0.0001 is taken as common on y-axis (to smooth the y-axis) and when you multiply with 0.0398 it will become 0.00000398, because you have to multiply to get original value. If you do not take it as common, then it will directly give you the value of intercept of 0.00000398.
The slope will be best if R*2 value is 1 (taken from straight line equation). I use the equation as discussed in video or please watch other videos doe detail.
nice video but one thing sir i want to ask please tell me what is mass of absorbent ? i mean you calculate the value of Vm to be 391.2 cm ^3 /g but what is the value of vm will you divide with mass in gram and what is the mass of absorbent?
Thank you finally i got it actually slope has unit cm^-3 or /cm^3 so that when we divide by 1 we get unit cm^3 thank you very much nice and motivated video
Hello. I have basically the same question. If the Stot is in cm^3/g then if i divide it further by the mass of adsorbent (cm^3/g) / g will give me cm^3/g^2 Also it doesnt make sense that i take the sample of 0.1g and Stot will give ...lets say 10 cm^3/g Dividing Stot by 0.1 will grant 10 times higher value so 10cm^3/g will become 100 cm^3 / g^2 The only resonable calculation would be if Vm was given in cm^3 and not cm^3/g Then Stot would be the surface of the measured sample and further calculation would grant the result per gram - by incorporation of the sample mass So Stot = 10 cm^3 Stot/mass = 10cm^3/0.1g = 100cm^3/g ==> BET surf.
Very helpful to manual calculate the workings of the system. Thank you very much!
This is so helpful. Thank you so much Akhyar
My pleasure if you liked it
in exercise 1 why intercept value is 0.0398

How do i calculate surface area for my carbon-based adsorbent which is used for removal of pharmaceutical compounds?
Thank you so much 🙏
How did find the best slope? What equation did you use?
The slope will be best if R*2 value is 1 (taken from straight line equation). I use the equation as discussed in video or please watch other videos doe detail.

Just divide the mass of adsorbent with Vm, you have taken for the study. If it is 1g then the value will remain the same.
understood one last thing that i had confussion! to find Vm we use 1/ slope + intercept then the unit if vm is not in cm^ -3

Hello. I have basically the same question.
If the Stot is in cm^3/g then if i divide it further by the mass of adsorbent
(cm^3/g) / g
will give me cm^3/g^2
Also it doesnt make sense that i take the sample of 0.1g and Stot will give ...lets say 10 cm^3/g
Dividing Stot by 0.1 will grant 10 times higher value so 10cm^3/g will become 100 cm^3 / g^2
The only resonable calculation would be if Vm was given in cm^3 and not cm^3/g
Then Stot would be the surface of the measured sample
and further calculation would grant the result per gram - by incorporation of the sample mass
So
Stot = 10 cm^3
Stot/mass = 10cm^3/0.1g = 100cm^3/g ==> BET surf.
Very good.
Thank you!
thanks sir
