I think Galloway has variously supported a number of Arab leaders on specific issues, not so much because they are all-around nice guys, but because, on the specific issues in hand, they seemed to be more in line with international law or ordinary standards of justice than the west. Naom Chomsky would agree with this on a range of issues.
Paxman, to be fair, never supported Saddam. But he never mentioned much about the UK government supporting Saddam throughout his reign. Indeed he could not have done so without the support of the UK and the US.
Murdoch has spent most of his career trying to become an evil dictator, but never worked out how to make the jump from media dominance to political dominance. He made a pretty good attempt at it in the UK by bugging the phones of everybody who was anyone from the Royal Family down until he was appropriately kicked out of the country.
In the US, the UK and his native Australia, he has always used his media network to steer elections, and he has only supported MPs who allow him to expand his network.
His bold resolve to inform the public and support democracy? An expert opinion on his FOX News channel yesterday taught America that 80% of Londoners are actually gay.

George - keep going, you have probably the highest IQ in Parliament since its inception. Far and above the most eloquent, intriguing, inspiring individual the house has seen in radio and TV records. Reminiscent of James Connolly, but better.

I dislike Diane Abbott. She's a "professional" politician. Its difficult to discern from precisely she stands for, if anything. She comes across as insincere, arrogant, and hypocritical, In fact, she's a proven hypocrite, for she used to criticize tories for sending their children to private school, only to send her own children subsequently to private school. That's hypocrisy. I'm sick of her kind of politics.

Dont always agree with Galloway but his closing statement was an excellent summary of British politics over the last 20 years: "they all stand for the same things, neo-liberal economics, cut backs in public expenditure & war abroad"

But he lost to one of the greatest debaters of all time. You just don’t like his politics. The only thing Paxman has in his arsenal is insults but no brains to go with it and Galloway pick him off right away. I was in Australia when Galloway was interviewed by a journalist very much like Paxman. He started off insulting Galloway but George just sat quietly listening to these disgraceful insults. George then said are you finished? Then left him destroyed. I can never see that journalist without remembering the drubbing he got, his name is Sheridan and was considered to be one of their top journalists

As I see it, the Problem with George is, although he himself seems sincere, he could well be wrong to trust the sincerity of all the factions he makes a point of meeting with. A little bit like the Irish Prime Minister who agree's with everything you say, then does what he wants to do anyway. It's far more complicated in most cases than George wants to make out.

I myself am apolitical due to the absolute polarization of UK politics but, whatever your political stripe, one thing that came out of this discussion is undeniably true, that our electoral system is far too narrow to represent the level of political diversity amongst the citizens. Having lived in the US also I can attest to the same there: much shouting across the aisle with very little being accomplished.

How on earth did Paxman get that job he is obviously thick and no match for Galloway. He never seems to learn a lesson from one one of the greatest takers down of clowns. Galloways taking down of the two American senators in the senate enquiry is a classic and if Paxman saw that he should have known what he was up against, but being thick of course and full of himself he wouldn’t.

Aaron, I lived in the US. while working for Dell in Texas, and loved the people I met, but your media are bought and paid for. While it is going that way here, the Beeb, still has a few giants like Jeremy Paxman, and John Humphries, et-al, but people like them are being forced out, by the Liberal elite who are taking over the world.
Also, the media are not reporters any more, they are infotainment pure and simple. Battling for the female eyeballs, and their perspective because it is she who spends the bulk of household income. Advertising leads us ultimately into a media grey soup, where strong opinions are not voiced because it would upset one segment or other of the paying audience.

Well, say what you want about America, but they don't dictate 75% of UK laws, while for the EU that still isn't enough. But I like this idea about 'we' leading Europe. Presumably by 'we' you mean the socialist political establishment that runs the EU, constituted by the likes of Guy Verhofstadt who thinks nation-states should be abolished. The EU is, essentially, a gradualist, neo-imperialist institution and was/is supported by the US establishment, e.g., it was funded by the CIA's precursor.

Paxman is a sock-puppet and receives prompts through his earpiece from a team of directors. Paxman 03:06 receives the directors prompt "specs-on!" and he stalls while fumbling for his spectacles. The director prompts again "more gravitas!" and Paxman adopts his serious face....etc. a total sold-out, bought and paid for 'sock puppet'.
