Why has the community let Namco get away with forcing you to pay for the same DLC over and over again. Why does the community get hype for characters that have already been in the game for years? Heihach has been in every Tekken game, so why get hype about him being in Tekken 8. They also let Harada get away with flat out lying to his customers repeatedly. All of this and I haven’t even gotten to the gameplay mechanics yet.
Harada lying… most definitely…but forcing people to play the DLC’s nah I only pay for who interest me but I get your point, I’ve said this before why are making legacy characters DLC’s? But the casuals don’t care about that Harada tried to progress the game forward in T3&T4 but the backlash he got for killing off kazuya, leaving off eddy, beak, Anna etc so he continues to bring them back for fans 🤷🏾♂️
I don't get this argument
The character has new moves, plays different and it's a different model. Has new intros, needs to be worked. So it's not like they copy pasted the char.
Now, people should definitely be complaining about battle pass and how you don't know which characters you getting when you buy the season pass
A character beeing in a previous game, doesn't mean they automatically have to be in the latest installment. There is no logical reasoning. Every new installment would be a Tekken Tag roster. That is literally no sustainability if you want to change all the characters with some new moves etc.
TTT2: DLC: FREE, Harada promised: Legacy Chars as DLC will not be charged for.
T7: Legacy chars that they actually charged for: Julia, Ganryu, Anna, Marduk, Lei, Kuni, AK.
T8: Now customization items even trivial ones (Battle pass) will be charged for, that includes older Tekken common customization items. Insanely closed the gap between high level and lower level gameplay, literally any character can do x2 to x3 rage drives followed up by a heat smash. Example? Law's 1+2 in heat.
Most hated character in T7 competitively was Akuma, because he could combo off of 10i. Now? Law and Hwo have a 10i CH launcher in heat, why?!
King best CH fisher in the game? Yoshi hitting like a truck? Paul is a pure string cancel mix fest? Nina Carries wall to wall without any effort what so ever? Kazuya has a power mid that does 30 and +5 oB? Pluse a fast safe mid demon paw? Jin has crazy reach on jabs and df1? Bryan has a charged attack along with Yoshi, Clive, Paul, Feng... KUMA PRESURES IN HEAT like WHAT!? Whatever happened to weaknesses and difficulty?
People who argue the game is not easier, aggressiveness have became baby mode, brainless and exaggerated. Defense has been punished severely.
Some people really can't see what you're saying. They actually can't, it's crazy. It's right in front of our eyes. The game has some serious issues, and I doubt most will ever be addressed

@@jamessummers5936 If there was a more stable version of tekken 7 where it doesnt crash 24/7 or if namco ever decides to add older tekkens on steam, I'd definitely play tekken 8 waaay less (and I already play a less frequently than before). VF6 teaser looks dope, but its not gonna release in a week or smth

Clive is just like noctis it's funny how not that many ppl complained about Akuma t7 or geese and not as much as the dude from walking dead i don't mind Clive being in ff16 we got devil jin and yoshi so he fits
Definitely feeling you on those costumes. How they don't let us re-enter higher ranked tournaments in Arcade Quest to unlock legacy costumes and art AND rank up effectively in single player is beyond me. Give us stuff to do with those avatars and areas.

That's actually a decent idea, if they could only add unlockable rewards from the Tekken Lounge such as costumes, emotes, art panels, etc. It would've been more meaningful to unlock vs boring battle pass. Tekken Lounge could have been more fun stay if we can do something more and I feel like the potential has been wasted.
Heat killed Tekken for me, I can't imagine how it could be balanced besides being nerfed to irrelevancy. I have more than 2000 hours in Tekken 7 and very high numbers for every other Tekken going back to 4. This series has been my FG series for my whole life basically, but I made it 124 hours in Tekken 8 and uninstalled it, I haven't had a desire to play it since. I don't even watch it anymore, and I used to watch every tournament.
Tekken is a defensive, movement based game where true mixups are something only particular characters have, and their kits are meant to be balanced around it. Giving everyone an unga-bunga armored gap closer with built in mix ups as a universal mechanic is truly the dumbest, worst idea they could have had/stolen from SF6 and there's not much they can do to fix it that wouldn't require them to admit it was a mistake, which they won't do.

T7 was bs too. And I confirm it every time I play T5DR, T6 and TTT2 with friends or ranked.
Heat definitely needs a tune down. But what I wished removed was rageart, that thing beats anything.

I think the players that are new to the Tekken series as a whole, love T8, but for the hardcore audience, the game has lost the appeal that got us into the game to begin with. I was fine with the idea of T8 becoming more aggressive, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. So I desired to play a different fighting game at the end of the day. Thankfully VF REVO comes out at the end of the month and I've uninstalled T8 immediately after the Clive release as it demonstrated the direction the devs are committed to, which is not a direction I'm interested in going in.
You and me both. Plus I have 112GB of free space in my SSD now.
I'm hardcore and I'm still digging the series, it's fun.

I understand not paying for cosmetics or whatever, but if you bought the game, why not just play it. It's already a full package game. Don't know if you're on pc, but everybody has three costumes and I color variant. I don't see how cosmetics influence your offline or online enjoyment. It's not like people can pay to win.

13:10 when they released the trailer for Jin, i believed they would not add Devil Jin
Not only you but we all.
This franchise however can't progress story wise since there's no accountability at all such as killing Heihachi and Devil Jin's addition to this game. What we have during the ending of T8 both Jin and Kaz's losing their Devil Genes won't be necessary anyway since I know for a fact that Harada will keep insisting them to keep moving forward.
Sad thing is that, Tekken Tag 2 probably would have been more Successful if they updated the balancing from time to time
I love Tag 2 but the balancing of that game is MAD
1) I highly doubt that the balancing of the roster has any bearing on how commercially successful it is. The vast majority of those who buy any Tekken game are casual-of-casuals who've no concept of roster balance.
2) I think an argument can be made that TTT2 is the _least_ bad offender in terms of how imbalanced the roster is. Certainly, I would say that the gap between top and bottom characters in TTT2 is narrower than in any iteration of T7, or T8.
Never thought tag 2 was bad, legit it was just the online that sucked, other than that the game was fun
No, it would've been more successful with a PC port & a version for PS4/Xbox One. It simply came out too late in the 360 lifespan.
TTT2 was my favorite Tekken. I would like to play a Remake.
I deleted the game once i saw it was Clive as the last dlc character. Clive was not the character Tekken Fans wanted or cared about. The game does not prioritize Defense in any way and it shows this by presenting a new Tekken with no new defensive options. I was born in 92'. Been playing since Tekken 3 and ive watched them consistently ignore the defensive aspect of their game.

VF6 is supposedly being released this year so at least there is another alternative coming, i'm still playing Tekken hoping they add characters i give a shit about but if VF6 ends up being dope due to the Yakuza devs then i'll have to make a choice which one i want to spend my time on

Since you’re bringing up bdays. I was born in 83. Played tekken 1. Tekken 8 is fine. Tifa ain’t coming. Clive is fine. This is the first season of a non arcade release. Arcades have been irrelevant since you can remember. By all means, pretend that they weren’t. Tekken 8 is a good game that will only get better

You have a break for a bit. You return, and you realise the absurdity. I've been on holiday, and I've come to realisation i dont need or want this game.
Tekken been losing me since TTT2. T6 was the last fun I had, the netcode was horrible but I had fun. Wasn't a fan of using 2 characters in TTT2. T7 came and we got 1 on 1 again, better netcode, but we got armor moves, rage drives, rage arts, 2D characters. T8 I played the beta and I was fooled. The game felt good, but when it came out...bamboozled! I don't even play the game and I know that people who used to know my would be shocked because all I was known for in my circles was Tekken. I have 0 drive to turn this game on, if I get T9 it will be on sale, has to be less than $20 for me to buy it lmao.
I just wish it was an actual Tekken character instead of Clive honestly. Or, Tifa like everyone’s been asking for. I have NEVER heard anyone say they wanted Clive in Tekken 😂. I’m patiently waiting for VF6 personally. I might pick Tekken back up when season 2 arrives but…. Not really sweating it. Not my cup of tea atm honestly.
I don't have a ps5 yet, I was kinda disappointed that they decided to cancel the entire story of 7 by bringing Heihachi back but whatever 7s story was lame to begin with I can get over it. When Clove was announced I realized I'm not getting tekken 8 until after I have every other fighting game I want first. Noctis wasn't fun, what am I supposed to see in Cloves kit that I won't find tedious?
No one asked for Akuma, Negan, Noctis or Geese, game developers are going to do what they want.
Idk where this entitlement comes from to think that game developers have to do what the players want. And even if they could, players want different things.

As long as the game is fun, new characters are animated well and are fun to play with, the franchise will continue.
@@jamessummers5936the entitlement part came from the pros they started this whole rant which made developers do patch updates and bring back certain characters smh, you are absolutely right tho Namco is definitely going to do whatever at the end of the day but they do have the pros in their ear which I do not like.
Really close to just walking away from the game for a while, broken Clives everywhere in ranked, the basic meta of the game is just not enjoyable and I'm 50/50 whether they will, or even have the intention to fix it.

Season Pass and Tekken Shop were a cunning and sneaky move from Bamco, we will never forget how deceptive it is being released right after when the reviews are out and released the game. They compromised T8 customization during release of how lacking they are in general because they knew they'll be added in the game later via microtransactions. Tekken Devs or Harada might not agree with this decision during at the release of the game but Bandai Namco is just being greedy after the game being sold for $70, a separate Season Pass and the audacity sneaking in both Battle Pass and Tekken Shop and lastly, they even want us to buy a separate stage from Heihachi outside of Ultimate Pass which is crazy.
The way the game is treated had me and my friend picking up t7 and t6 again. We are having such a good time. T8 needs a whole lot of tuning, and i feel a lot of characters are WAY more boring than they used to be.
My perfect tekken is probably a combo of:
- T6 pacing and rage system
- T7 combo style and bound, in addition to keeping jin, kazuya and heihachis combo tools (i find T8 Kazuya and Heihachi combos to be boring compared to T6 and T7. Also like the wall bounce stuff cause it looks cool.
- T8 wall-system (for combos and interactions, wall bound and such)
- NO chip damage (or only chip damage on some special moves in heat)
- New game gimmicks doesnt completely take away regular tekken gameplay. Heat would charge over several stocks or you have only one heat meter per match (just an idea)
- maximum one rage art per match
And lastly;
- Dlcs are not having 4-range attacks and 40-hit death combos... (for those who saw that video)
Tekken has shifted a ton from what made it once great. It’s feeling more like Guilty Gear nowadays.

The offence options when you're like going against easy top/high tier range a bit too much to a lot too much. Like you can still be defensive but the offence in this game is just stronger and some characters just outright put you in situations where you cant do anything which fundamentally goes against the core principle of you always have counterplay to deal with an option in tekken (despite how some characters like T1 king slip through the cracks in every game)
Tldr : offence needs to be put on the same level as defense in this game.
Tekken 8 was a really great game at release. I would give it like an 8/10. It started to fall down on patching in MTX after release wich was already a shady move and not really well recieved by the community than they pushed it further and further with the stage of heihachi for example. Battlepass as a whole being a let down for most people is also a huge deal for people to leave... Another thing was Clive imo he is well down but really not what people wanted. You can look it up on steam charts for example Heihachi brought more traffic to the game than a guest char wich is crazy imo. I really hope they will come back strong with s2 but personally I decided to not play further until they start to make some right decisions.

Their feeding into the feedback of the pro’s casuals do not care bc D.Jin and Dragonov are on SS level just play the game and enjoy it. Like you said in the beginning of the video the old tekkens didn’t have all this update this or that but Harada already spoke on this “you want the old way, go play the old tekkens” smh

Not gonna lie, I don’t agree with you about Jin whatsoever.. his attacks are still karate based. The only thing that confuses people about Jin is the effects that follows his attacks.. the only thing that anime with him is his heat finisher.. except that dive kick which is bs.. for me the problem with Tekken 8 is too many “get out of jail free card” mechanics.. supers, heats, armored moves and health recovery 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️.. and none of them are managed in a way where it a reward rather than a automatic thing..
Why are these devs so gung-ho at making heat engagers more powerful most of the roster is already have engagers that are plus on block outside of a couple characters. Being able to full crouch after engagers is an oversight.

About the Guests: Clive came out pretty cool, but we have been asking for Tifa since Tekken 7, so yeah....mixed feelings about it. There's still hope tho, cuz the devs we could get more than one FF character in the game.

I stopped playing t8 after Clive came out. I was willing to forgive them hiding the shop until the reviews came out but this is just dumb and every time i hopped on ranked there were 20 Clive players and 1 dragonov sprinkled in every once in a while .
After I played 35 Clives in a row, I decided enough was enough.
I just hope we dont have to wait for spring to see some balance changes

Jin is def more “anime” now but it’s likely because in the story he accepts everything he’s learned is him. That’s probably why his combat direction turned into this new style with the demon style moves
Imagine if T8 evolves to a point where the characters have alternate fighting styles that you have the option to select in character select before the match. i.e Jin having no devil anime effects.
Engaging heat. Long combos. Heat smash. Heat rush. Rage arts. All these take control out of player's hands which in turn slows the game down. Messes up the flow
Tekken getting killed by these decisions a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If there is a loud group of the community who are constantly talking about how problematic the game is, then naturally, new players will stumble upon the content, and that demotivates them to play the game.
If we say nothing, then the game stays in its current state. Which will kill it via lack of competition, perhaps.
I am gonna be honest to anyone reading this, if you hate the game, please leave and stop spreading your hate for the game. If you have constructive criticism and love the game, then please stay and support the game through these hard times.
Tekken has historically been poorly balanced on arcade release. We are in arcade release right now. Not literally, but figuratively.
Au contraire, those of us who detest the present gameplay direction of the franchise should continue expressing our sentiments loud and clear precisely in the hope that new players are dissuaded from bothering with the game. The fewer new players pick up T8, the better! Bandai Namco deserve a kick up the backside for T8!

@@ChristopherWaddelow Everyone should have their voice heard especially the criticism coming from long time Tekken fans such as King Jae. Tekken was renowned to be a beautiful defensive footsie fighting game. Tekken 8 heavily strays away from this.
Telling people to be silent when they do not share the same view point as you is a very immature stance and inhibits future changes that can enhance the game. In this case making Tekken 8 feel more closely to a traditional Tekken game.
If this is arcade release, then how about just releasing the game when it's ready. Dice would release games unpolished and not ready, and look what happened to Battlefield they just killed the franchise. Just fucking release the game when it's ready.

Also, you keep bringing up this tradition, and I heavily disagree with the idea that footsies is something that is sacred. T3-T7 are still around. Go play them if you like them. Just conforming the game to the prior in the series is rather boring imo.
yesterday I played tekken 5, jin was so cool, kazuya without all that stopping of turning into a demon in the middle of the fight was also really cool, now jin in tekken 8 is very much in the style of an anime, they should leave their entire arsenal of blows with this demon power to Devil jin.
They destroyed Leroy's parries and strikes. I don't get it. He was supposed to be all about defense and using your opponents fist against them.
Had such high hopes for this game.

Guess what they'll do with Season 2, new moves for everyone which leads to another balancing nightmare because we know not everyone will be beneficial for this and some characters will take it but will become useless of how bad it might be compared to some other characters and we're still going to end up complaining again for the rest of next season for balancing in general.
remember bamco has a habbit of releasing DLC' chars broken to drive sales up, and then fix them
This game really frustrated me in the first few months. Things didn’t make sense. I’m not that good. I’m purple with my main Steve. Got bored of him, picked up Kazuya because I wanted a challenging and rewarding player to play. Got to like destroyer with Kazuya, I kid you not, I fought 8 Clive’s in a row. EIGHT different Clive’s. That’s annoying. I’m also not a fan of the powercrush heat engagers. Has to be the dumbest shit I’ve seen in a fighting game other than special styles
People not agreeing with you that yoshi was broken is crazy to me.
I mained yoshi exclusively for the entirety of Tekken 7, took ONE look at him in 8 and immedietly knew how broken he was. You could just flash ANYTHING.
Especially with that STUPID range on SwordStance-Flash pre nerf. It literally made me laugh out loud. His CRAZY damage etc.
Only thing he lost in compensation were his Oki Setups, wich if you ask me was the worst decision to make. Now he gets all that Oki damage guaranteed in a Combo anyway.
Immedietly dropped him as my Main and tried new Characters, then fell in love with Steve.
I ve been playing also tekken since tekken 1 and I am now playing for fun (almost tekken god rank)
For me honestly one of the problem is the dead time in the game now. Super long combos where mostly one of the two has to wait. Rage, waiting time. Jailing move again no action. So basically the active time of playing from both players is actually reduced and one or two action can basically end one full round. So not sure where this game wants to go...
Just to respond to Jae about the FF music, I play a lot of Threatrhythm so I've heard 16s soundtrack without the game context, and just purely from a musical perspective I don't think it holds up to any of Uematsu's work.

Honestly, I can care less about the FF fans experience. The game was killed when the FF character entered.

Great vid Jae, I have finally gotten back into tekken 8 and the top 5 characters are just leagues about others, maybe its me being a scrup but some characters just feel impossible to fight against and have insuffereable offense.
You only realise things went wrong when it gets too late!!

Dang didnt even notice about Jin like that. But your right Jin even in 8 story doesn't want the power of the devil nor wants to use it. Its at the very end he accepts himself. But when him and Kazuya battle their devil both disappear. Which means Jin doesn't have the devil with him in both scenarioes before and after he refused to use it, and at the end lost it to the Kazama purification .And sorry but Kazuya needs along poke in this game their is so much bs that I already commented on. Even story wise doesn't make sense dudes been fighting since a kid and its his 8th tournament and he hasn't learned to defeat his opponents he needs to strike more outward. Instead of puching like a t rex. Thats all he needed to cut most of the bs of the game. You can't turtle cause they made the game too offensive and that if you are a defensive player they actually made it worse by the overall design. Sorry but why does everything penetrate crouch block. All they need to do is stop unblockables, make backdashing is easier, and side stepping more sensitive,, stop the unstopable throws, also these infinite combos make a burst like soul call or like Dead or Alive where you can block out or parry out of almost everything
there are no infinite combos in tekken, all unblockables in the game can be sidestepped basically, and there are very few unbreakable throws in the game. You have to learn about what’s happening in the game brother

Their would have been backlash but people would have known before buying. We been groomed to expect it to me this customizations were purposely kept aside to make a profit. Harada's been screwing up Tekken 8 almost since its launch, including adding Clive, and its been going in the wrong direction since. If he keeps this up, he'll drive away more than half the community.

Some people cant accept that them not liking a game doesnt make said game bad, the best way to know if a game is good enough is to look at the numbers, and I love to break it to yall, but numbers says otherwise.... Tekken 8 is a massive success from a numbers standpoint and its not even debatable.

People are so negatively biased they don’t want to look at the situation from a objective standpoint, nothing is more objective than numbers. There’s so much negativity spread online people think that the game is dying but when we look at the numbers, we can see that it’s solid… Negativity push people to go out of their way to vocalize their criticism, but people who are satisfied don’t scream it everywhere, they just stick to the game. If we compare Tekken 7 to Tekken 8 number wise and on the same time frame, Tekken 8 is holding strong and is as successful as his predecessor. Obviously we can’t look at the consoles numbers, but we can safely assume that it’s the same. Even tho Tekken 8 has its flaws (flaws that made me quit the game since October by the way) the game is till very much appreciated.

On the topic of Jin, I actually think that he needs to be more anime, I feel like his Karate style took him further away from being a true Mishima especially the the moves. Like not having his Mishima moves and seeing how those same moves evolved over time with Kazuya, Heihachi and Lars and Reina, I'm very jealous that he looks so shit and is not flashy at all even though he's the lead.

@ you’re not playing tekken 8, you’re playing tin can 8. Ff4 is -4 on block, more than enough to cancel stance and block. Or you can hard read mashers and use hrm 1 or hrm b2 if you get blocked. Sufficient ≠ perfect. Ff4 does the job and it does it well. It’s not a demon paw, but it’s Leroy’s most plus hermit move. They HAVE to respect the mix if you hit it
