As a Brit a weird sentence to hear is "at my board game store a few hours away..." You travel HOURS to your nearest store? You can traverse our whole country in a few hours lol.
Everdell was my gateway into the deep end of board game research, videos, and also dabbling in design. Already coming with the love of Redwall series, I couldn't not love it, you know? Love to hear others feeling the same way about that masterpiece.
Thank you for talking about Endless Winter! I feel like I’m the only one in the family who will like it so I’m afraid to break it out. It’s so hard to get them to play so I always try to pick games I know they will love. I’m so jealous you have a family of gamers!
So many inserts do NOT have lids, and I HATE that. What brand of insert with lids did you get for Endless Winter? Also, I agree with the previous poster - show your inserts! Homemade and purchased! Still love your presentations. And congratulations on the new chair. So great having a chair you like!
I definitely should! And my inserts for Endless Winter came with my copy of the game. I just picked it up at a game store, so I'm not sure if it comes standard in the game or not. Hope that helps!
I just recently started diving into the larger board game world, normally just play Settlers and Carcassonne with the family. I had never heard of Everdell before watching this video 😅 thanks for intoducing me to all these games I can bring back to my family!
I agree with you on the inserts and organizations trays for Endless Winter; they are fantastic, as is the quality of all the components! Only thing that caused some confusion in the beginning was the open space for a mammoth. I initially thought I had lost it during unboxing until I learned it was only included in the Kickstarter.
I want to meet someone who loves me the way you love Everdell :'D You really are just the right kind of crazy and it's great to watch every time. And yes, that Everdell Complete Collection box is humongous, completely ridiculous. BTW it's good that you point out when you have upgraded components. I know I'd feel bummed in case I purchased a game after seeing your b-roll and discovering that it doesn't actually come with lovely screenprinted meeples stock. Very much agree with you on both baggies (ugh) and neoprene mats (aw yeah). Get well soon!
Thank you! I always try to point that out, thanks for noticing! If I forgot and someone bought the game not realizing they weren't getting those upgrades I'd feel super bad!
I am definitely interested even if you talk about more popular games because I'm still very new to the whole hobby! That Everdell complete box looks pretty yummy 🤤
Would love to hear your opinion even on very common/popular games. I remembered you mentioned that you hate Ticket To Ride, it will be interesting to hear why and maybe do a video of hated games
Century is wonderful. I introduced to my family who mostly aren't gamers and they took to it nicely, and it's made them more open to trying games with higher complexity levels. We got the Century expansions and I'm planning to teach them and learn along with them soon. (We got the Golem versions too because we think the crystals are prettier than the wooden blocks of the original version!)
I haven't heard of The Littles, but I am reminded of The Borrowers/Arriety! The art and pieces on that Castles game are so cute. "Shorelings" is such a cute name too. I enjoy Century, but I feel I play it inelegantly. Like, I use my card, rest, reuse that card, rest...and there isn't much on the tableau to choose from. I'm sure I'm just bad at it.
You're not the only one, I feel like I'm resting every other turn as well! And if the tableau is filled with those "trade x in to make x" cards, then buying cards always seems to stop for everyone.
Everdell was also the “gateway” game for me… Dominion also I guess haha Maybe I’ve missed it, but do you have a review of Honey Buzz? Super intrigued by that one, my wife loves the artwork and we want to try it haha Also, have you ever played Unfair?
I have yet to review Honey Buzz, but it is one of my favorite games. I love the deluxe edition, too, if you can swing it! I have yet to play Unfair, I'll have to check it out!
Finally! Someone who understands my expansion need! I have so many board games that, unfortunately, I have not touched, but I need the expansions, too! How am I supposed to play the game if it has expansions that I don't have? 🤣 There are times when I have not touched the expansions, but I love the fact that we can have the option of expanding, and it's always great. I NEED the expansions!
Glad you were able to get into Endless Winter! Would it be a game you'd recommend to get? Or better getting other games on the ever growing list first?
Yes, I would definitely recommend it. It's a very fun game and if you are interested in games with a ton of available actions then it might be just right for you!
Just a little piece of advice for editing. I would suggest not doing a dissolve transition between your segments. Either stick with the jump cuts or maybe consider doing some kind of wipe. The dissolve just doesn't fit that well. Sorry to be critical, I enjoy your videos but I just have an editing background and it always look s a little off to see your dissolves. I think it just look bad to dissolve when you are essentially dissolving to the same background. It creates that weird sort of morphy look. Even a wipe might look a little odd if there isn't something wiping over your image. That's why a jump cut might just be best in the end. Anyway, I'm just trying to help make your videos look better as your grow your channel.
Century Spice Road is defintely one of the games that my wife and I have played the most. IT is an excelent game, it is so easy but has so much depth. The only issue is that, specially if you're getting a card, one move sometimes can be very obviuos, however, turns are so fast that if that happens once in a while it is not an issue. Other thing is that it does reward repeated plays so it is kind of awesome to see people slowly realizing the game when you teach it.
It's true. I feel like I'm always watching my husband's board to see what he's trying to go for, but it adds to a lot of fun banter and aggressive play!
I keep almost getting Endless Winter and hesitating. I will probably get it one day. Area control is not a mechanism I particularly care for, but I love Worker Placement, Deck-building, and Set Collection. I love Everdell! It is currently my #6 game of all time. We sold the base game, Spirecrest, and Bellfaire, and some extras to get the Complete Collection. I don't know if you have tried out the Automa solo mode in Mistwood, but it is pretty fun, and I have not even gotten to try out the extras for the solo mode. And Farscape is not an expansion at all... just a standalone game. I haven't had a desire to get it because I feel I would just want to focus on the Everdell I have instead of jumping into this similar new game. I enjoy Century Golem Edition. Nice table presence for a small game, and I enjoy the engine building and the unique way the hand management works in this game. As far as the neoprene issue goes, try rolling it the opposite way every other time and it will help it flatten out.
If it helps at all, I really feel like with 2 players the area control is a minimum. It feels almost like an expansion in and of itself. I haven't tried out the Automa, I will have to give it a whirl! I've tried that with the neoprene, I've just found that sometimes the material is too light and struggles to lay entirely flat. I still prefer it over a wonky board though!
@AfterEvenfall It has worked for our Castles of Burgundy playmat. Although for any playmat, if it gets left like that a long time between plays, I'm sure it will over correct the opposite way.
There is only one part of Endless Winter than has words written on the cards. (that is all of the animal cards) The rest of it just uses symbols. Century: Golem Edition has only symbols and no words! :)
When you talk about your custom inserts, or the included inserts that you really like, you should show them!
I really should! They take me long enough, I might as well show them off! ;)
Yes please! I make inserts out of foam core but 3d printing them sounds more fun and easier! Show them off please
As a Brit a weird sentence to hear is "at my board game store a few hours away..."
You travel HOURS to your nearest store? You can traverse our whole country in a few hours lol.
Haha that must sound crazy! But yes, my NEAREST board game store is 3 1/2 hours away!
@@AfterEvenfall thats crazy! I will consider myself lucky that mine is 10 minutes on my bike in Oxford, England :)
Thanks for another great video!

It's such a good game, I'm glad we can agree!

Great episode 👍I will definitely checkout Century Golem edition 😊 Greetings from Munich, Germany🙋♀️
It's a great game, and it's so incredible to hear that you are watching my channel all the way from there!

Century is now top of my wish list, adding the mat too. I want to try Everdell.
Both are great!
