Amen to that, Don. These mountains are so unique and different especially with the snow which highlights certain features you might miss if it's just tree's or bare rock. Thanks for the comment. 😊

Melinda, it is amazing. We've been to Alaska before but not with so much snow on the ground. It really changes the view of the landscape. Thanks for joining us. 😊

You know, Kevin, after about a week of nearly daily issues with campsite availability...it almost became laughable....almost! LOL. Appreciate your time watching the channel and thanks for the comment. 😎
I love how the mountains seem so close even though I know they are huge and a long way away. Beautiful! My husband still says we should have moved to Alaska.
What’s stopping you? I quit a good job back east and sold most of my possessions and moved here. The first year it was hard to get a job. And I lived in a dry cabin and did day labor jobs like shoveling gravel, throwing hay and working on a potato digger. That was in 1979.

Thanks Gary. Boy, we see a lot of truck campers up here and Class C, B RV's so you're on the right track. It's a big state but there are some tight camping spaces. LOL.

But glad you enjoyed my hometown in Eagle River AK
Thank you. We enjoy Eagle River so it was really nice to visit for a few days. I hope they don't turn it into a shelter. It's a nice spot so close to Anchorage, it really feels like you're out in the wilderness.
Well, Phyllis, thank you for the comment. They are a couple who were unsure about traveling the ALCAN by themselves so we let them tag along behind us as we made our way to Alaska. Once we crossed the border they are now on their own journey around the 49th state. Appreciate your comment. 😊

Hi Dave & Sondra. I think a few things like.... Letting us know the temperature for the day (it looks frozen), showing us how you camp ie do you build a fire late in the afternoon? How is curiosity working out as a rig for camping. What's the fuel consumption like? Etc etc The views are amazing and am enjoying it a lot, but would like to see more of the struggles ( besides your plan B camp grounds 😂) plan c is a Walmart parking lot in the next town 😅😅. So what I'm saying is that we are getting all the good stuff and some are telling the family to get ready for travel and maybe it's cos we not getting the nitty gritties. But it's really nice to sit on the laziboy in front of the fire & comment about folks freezing their butts off. Oh yes... Sondra. I'm told that when you encounter bear poo you are meant to stick a finger in to get a temp reading which will tell you how far away it is from you 😂😂 Stay safe guys. Enjoy enjoy.
Hey Glen, sometimes we have a fire and it's in the afternoon before it gets cold. Temps have been mostly in the 50's daytime and 40's nighttime. We're getting about 9.5 mpg on the trip. We try to show how we travel so we don't have a lot of struggles. The Class C is doing great...we have a minor slide issue that I can fix with a bolt. Glad you're along on the journey with us.
That man was saying to have fun because he knew you would be camping. Lol. Plus. Alaska is an adventure. Lol. The scenery is amazingly beautiful!!!! Do you guys ever stop for moose burgers? Have a safe trip and have fun❤
I don’t know if moose meat can be sold commercially. Most animals and fish caught with a sporting license can’t be sold commercially. This is strictly enforced. They even arrested someone once for selling canned salmon caught this way at a flea market in Arizona.
No moose burgers but I do like Bison burgers! They have reindeer hot dogs but we don't eat out a lot. We've had fresh salmon given to us so we're excited about that. Thanks for the comments, Deborah. Appreciate your time watching the channel.
I think the land & sea package for Alaska is awesome and the way to tour this great state. We wanted to spend more time here so we're doing the "all land package"! Thanks for the comment.
Howdy! Hope all is going well. I’m curious to know how that Magnitude is treating y’all. Would love to see a rig update video. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Particularly the slide out. Safe travels!
The Magnitude is doing well. The slides are smooth but the large one has a loose "molding" strip which helps to anchor it. Nothing major that a small bolt won't fix. No complaints though and the maneuverability of the unit is remarkable. Haven't used the 4WD yet...hope to not have to but a comfort knowing we have it. Thanks for the comment. We'll do a rig update/tour a little later this summer.
After your trip you should publish the campgrounds who were open and which ones were closed during your trip in May / June. Would be valuable information whoever plans a trip to Alaska.
We're not quite sure if we're going to make it down to Homer this time. We were in Ninilchik for a few days but had to head north and inland. Maybe later this summer, Tary. The area is beautiful.
Great question, Clifton. They are a couple who were unsure about traveling to Alaska on their own so we let them tag along with us on the journey up. They are now on their own path to explore Alaska plus they wanted their privacy and did not want to be shown in any video.
The wife and I too have a Thor Magnitude XG32 and love it. Noticed you have a traveling companions tailgating in another Thor Magnitude or Omni; will you also be showing off / highligtling their Rig and Blue Jeep as well? And just curious are they full time companions following you on your adventures? Just curious?

Thanks for Alaskan/Canadian insight. Looking forward to planning our 2025 trip. Was curious, with the cold Temps you have had and all the boonndocking you have been doing are you filling up the propane as much as the diesel?? Keep the content coming!
LOL...it has been chilly at night. We've filled up propane three (3) times so far (Montana, Yukon and Alaska) but each time our tank was only down to about 40%. Nearly every fuel station has propane in Alaska and the same with the commercial campgrounds.
Great question, Connie. Lots of fuel stations along every route so we are not worried about it. I have an extra 5 gallon diesel fuel can but it's never had fuel in it. So far, they've been plentiful.
We wanted to get here early for some specific wildlife viewing so we knew we were talking a chance on closures. We're enjoying the empty campgrounds though, John. Thanks for the comment. 😃

Absolutely breathtaking views of the mountains. Love your journey!❤
Thank you, Paula. We just sort of point and shoot...Mother Nature does the rest. Appreciate your time watching the channel. 😃
After your trip you should publish the campgrounds who were open and which ones were closed during your trip in May / June. Would be valuable information whoever plans a trip to Alaska.
Thanks, Melinda. It's a beautiful area and the trip so far is really fun. 😊
Hope your trip has been going well, would be great to spot your rig in Homer AK, safe travels.
We're not quite sure if we're going to make it down to Homer this time. We were in Ninilchik for a few days but had to head north and inland. Maybe later this summer, Tary. The area is beautiful.
Thanks for taking us alone hmm where are we going next hmm can't wait to see where we are heading too
Well, Barbara it's a bucket list item that we are going to see... and you have front row seats!
@@bigtruckbigtravels can't wait ..loving the trip
Awesome being able to travel with you on your travels. Why not have your caravan friends in some of your videos?
Great question, Clifton. They are a couple who were unsure about traveling to Alaska on their own so we let them tag along with us on the journey up. They are now on their own path to explore Alaska plus they wanted their privacy and did not want to be shown in any video.
The wife and I too have a Thor Magnitude XG32 and love it. Noticed you have a traveling companions tailgating in another Thor Magnitude or Omni; will you also be showing off / highligtling their Rig and Blue Jeep as well? And just curious are they full time companions following you on your adventures? Just curious?
Great observation, Sam. They are a couple who didn't want to drive by themselves on the ALCAN so we let them tag along behind us. Since we are in Alaska now they have created their own path. Appreciate your comment and watching the channel.
☺️💕
Thank you. 😊 😍
Those were some lovely views. 😊 How long do you plan to be in Alaska? How long are you planning the entire trip to take?
Thank you, Adrian. We'll be in Alaska until late September then we'll head down to the lower 48 and cross back into the USA on October 1st. Appreciate your comments. 😎
Will you guys be coming to Valdez? My husband and I work at the Valdez KOA! Come see us if you're here!
We are coming to Valdez! I believe it's the second week in July. We'll be there for a week. That would be great to say "hi"! Thanks for the comment. 😃
@@bigtruckbigtravels We'll be looking out for ya! Safe travels!
Thank you so much for videos... what are your day/night temperatures?
Since we've crossed over into Alaska we have seen a range of mid-50's to mid-40's during the day and generally 40's at night. We've had several nights in the 30's but we've stayed warm and cozy so far. Thanks for watching.
There is still snow on the ground, what is the date of this video. Hope to be in Alaska in either 2024 or 2025 with my RV.
This was taken the 2nd week of May of 2023 (this year). We try to be fairly current. May is early to be going to Alaska. Most places start to open up June 1st. Thanks for watching.
Great shots from the Glen Hwy. and Matanuska Glacier. It just won’t warm up!
You guys make it to Homer yet?
We got as far as Ninilchik, Marty, and then headed inland. Beautiful views. So peaceful. Maybe later this summer.
@@bigtruckbigtravels yes
Much warmer in the interior…Fairbanks.
@@bigtruckbigtravels next time
You get back to Anchorage let me
Know if you have a meet up?
Arctic Roadrunner has good burgers and a soda fountain! It’s not Whataburger but not bad!
Ok you two campers what do they call up northern Alaska GOD'S County very good you when a cookie LOL oh and where are the bears and moose
Thanks, James. No idea about the moose and bears. We've been looking for them!
Do you ever worry about running out of gas?
Great question, Connie. Lots of fuel stations along every route so we are not worried about it. I have an extra 5 gallon diesel fuel can but it's never had fuel in it. So far, they've been plentiful.
You are going to Alaska a few weeks too early
We wanted to get here early for some specific wildlife viewing so we knew we were talking a chance on closures. We're enjoying the empty campgrounds though, John. Thanks for the comment. 😃
It’s just a late breakup. The last 3 months have been some of the coolest on record in South Central, Alaska.
@@Chris_at_Home definitely took us by surprise. Appreciate your comments.
What date was this video shot ?

Are you having any trouble finding fuel?
Fuel has been very easy to find, Jim. I was mildly concerned coming up so early but fuel has been consistent and plentiful. I think the largest distance between fuel stops was about 100 miles or so. Appreciate the comment. 😎
What happened to your HDT?
Great question, Marty. It's being taken care of very well at our daughter's home in Alabama until we return in October.
Curious why y’all repeat everything the other person says lol
I’ll always watch y’all
LOL...not sure, Kelly. Maybe because we think alike...maybe for emphasis. Oh well....thanks for watching the channel.
