5-Snack Challenge at the Friday Night Market in Mae Sot, Thailand.

- The town of Mae Sot in Thailand closes down a street near my guest house every Saturday night for a weekly night market. I went there last week for a 5-Snack Challenge.
However, there is also a weekly night market every Friday night. It takes place on a different street. Just like for the Saturday night market, they close the street to traffic, and people set up stalls to sell food, clothing, drinks, and household goods. There is live music and a small massage station and lots of other fun things.
Luckily for me, the Friday night market is also just a short distance from my guest house, and I took a stroll there this past weekend for another 5-Snack Challenge. I had my usual technical difficulties with my GoPro suddenly shooting quite dark video, but I powered through that and had some tasty snacks.
I also learned some interesting things about how the market is organized. I hope you enjoy my visit to Mae Sot's Friday Night Market.
I have shared your Theft story videos to several high profile channels..... its good to see you are finally getting the recognition you deserve..... 25K is on the horizon !!
You are a wandering storyteller. A minimalist gentleman on the go.
Ahhh... Thai Night Market, nothing quite like it. Gosh I miss Thailand sooooooo much!
Maybe take us on a tour of one of your local night markets 👍
loved your show. The slowness and calm is amazing.
thank you. you really have a good presentation skill and let your audience feel like we are also there with you, Doug.
Congratulations for reaching 10k subscribers, Mr Douglas. Happy 2 c u getting more n more subscribers. God blessed u abundantly.
Thank you very much. 🤗
Thank you for show and tell everyone about Thailand I'm know that not your food but you still can eat
another quality video. as usual, the food videos always make me hungry.
Turned out international food challenge. I would vote #1 for teddy bear snack!
u have a very good microphone no wind noise recorded...very sensitive too.. If i mind u asking the details of that mic please would be highly appreciated.. thx for the nice commentary !
Thank you! I am using a Ride Wireless Go microphone. I like it quite a bit, though it does add a lot of expense to using a GoPro in this way. My GoPro Hero 7 black does not have a microphone Jack, so I had to buy the GoPro Microphone Adapter to be able to plug it in. And then I had to buy a special cage from Ulanzi so that I had a place to put the microphone adapter and the Rode Wireless Go receiver. And that is on top of the cost of the microphone itself. I do like the sound that I get but, as I said, it's a bit expensive. 🙂
your amazing thank you for showing and stay safe
Thank you for sharing
Kebeb, Crepe, SpringRolls, FriedChicken, DonerKebab, Coconut Mikeshake for lunch + dinner. Enjoy watching it! Thanks, . Life must be soooo hard ... LOL..
Congrats Doug for the 12k subscribers. The first thing you had is called Shashlik. The meat part may be Beef or Chicken
I challenge you to 10 snack challenge! How about it Doug?
💜💙💚🧡❤️💜💙💚💛🧡❤️💙💚💛
Love your videos.
Thanks
A 10-Snack Challenge is probably doable. I just can't be so greedy and order two or three or four of everything. I'd have to go for smaller portions. 🙂
12k subscribers...... that's amazing!
Congratulations for reaching 10k subscribers Doug
Please consider do a Q & A video
oh yes he hasnt done a q&a video before
Great Job!!
a suggested new name....The wandering canadian 😃
I am watching your vlogs since the first vlog you were not able to get back to Myanmar. It gave me so much entertainment threw this diffcult. Times. And i want to invite you to a christmas meal in Mea Sot. Of coure without me, cause i am in Germany. So my question to you, Doug: how can i send you money for a christmas meal of your choice? Just to give you someting back for my funk 🙌🏻
Douglas, your last "doner kabab" snack is generally called "shwarma" which is a middle eastern name.
I remember that shwarma was one of the names I came across when I did some reading about this dish a few weeks ago. But I found other names being used in different countries. I wasn't sure if one name was more generally accepted than another. To be honest, whenever I think of shwarma, I think of the final scene in "The Avengers." 😁
Döner Kebap is a turkish name. Shawarma is a middle eastern name. The meal is basically the same.
@@indahood555 you are right. Maybe slight difference in taste. I prefer Turkish version.
Doner if I'm not mistaken is Turkish. Very popular in Germany... I'm curious to know what made that vendor choose this name.
I'm not sure either. I first started thinking about this snack because I saw a photograph of a "doner kebab" stall on the Google Maps listing for the regular Mae Sot night market. I'm not sure that that doner kebab stall is there every night, though.
I haven't taken my GoPro to the regular night market yet. I'll probably do that soon.
Hi Doug. I noticed that you seem to have crossed 22k subcribers. You reached 10k just a few days ago so that's really amazing growth. Any idea on how you gained subscribers so quickly?
I certainly noticed that, too. 🙂 At the moment, it is a bit of a mystery. A lot of new people seem to have subscribed to the channel in just the last 36 or 48 hours, but I haven't seen a lot of comments from new people. So I'm not sure who they might be or how they stumbled across my videos.
The one clue is that a couple of my videos suddenly have over 10,000 "likes". That is very unusual. So my guess is that one or both of those videos were shared by someone or some organization with a wide audience. And perhaps that caused the mysterious UA-cam algorithm to suggest my videos to more people and things snowballed from there. That's just a guess, though.
But whatever happened, and assuming these 14,000+ new subscribers are real people, it's quite exciting. 😎
Wow!
@@PlanetDoug I belief your vlogging episodes of your experiences, being scammed, robbed and cheated must have been shared in popular travel sites by concerned subscribers. Hence the exponential rise in number of subscribers. Indeed those vlogs are a good compilation of your vast travel experiences. Your style of honest vlogging further, is an added attraction.
your subscriber is grow quickly
Mala is the spicy and numbing flavour from Chinese cuisine, which is made from Sichuan peppercorn.
Great
For a Canadian you've certainly got a great constitution and liberal palate. Enjoy. Why don't you carry an empty tiffin box with a spoon into which you can empty the snacks and eat comfortably.
I don't know why I didn't think of that myself. With my own container, I could have some of the more regular meals instead of just having finger food. Good suggestion.
12100 subs now and rising fast.
1st. Wow! 11.8K subscribers.
I've had that chicken before. I like the Korean flavor. Mala is BBQ in Thai.
Mala is chinese food,in a way "seasoning". It's traditional dish of Sichuan and Chongqing.
@@blahhhblahhh7884 Mala in Thai means BBQ. So in this case, it's BBQ
I noticed the Korean flag on one of the sets of chicken. I'm not sure why I didn't snag one. When I'm back there, I'll definitely try the Korean flavor next time.
@@whiskeynovember8498 I'm thai LMAO Mala is not even a thai word, It's adopted word like driver and director etc
@@blahhhblahhh7884 ok
Next time please make an 8-snack challenge.
8 snacks would be a lot of snacks. 😁
The way to handle the doner kebab is not to open and undo the alfoil. Just peel one end and slowly work your way down with each bite.
which stabilizer do you use?
I've been shooting video with a GoPro Hero 7 Black, so I just use the electronic stabilization that is built into the GoPro itself. They just call it HyperSmooth. There are no real settings to choose from in HyperSmooth. In the GoPro Hero 7 menu, you have two choices: Auto and Off.
I always have it set to Auto, which is essentially "on". The stabilization of the GoPro is the main reason that I bought it and why I keep using it. I don't use any kind of stabilization on top of that. No gimbal or anything like that. 🙂
I think crepe is called Tokiao. Spelling probably wrong 😜
I agree with some comments for you to do Q&A live streaming.
yes, 'ma la' 麻辣, is a chinese word and means 'spicy'
Mystery solved. Now I know for sure which one was the spicy one. 🙂
That cannot be shiekh kabab, because they also have beacons in the stick.
To be honest, I don't think it was bacon. I don't even know why I said that when I was making the video. It was just a word that popped into my head. I think the meat consisted of cuts of beef and/or chicken.
I hope i don't hear any noises coming from the other end mate. Please enjoy.
What's the runner up? Donya?
'
In terms of a satisfying dish, I think the runner-up has to be the "doner kebab" or shwarma. I didn't spend much time talking about it, but that was probably because I was so busy eating it and enjoying it. 🙂
The dogs will gladly lick your fingers i would think mate.
They are mafia dogs
