    The chemistry was there between these two women. You could not predict what either one would say or do. The whole film kept you guessing even after it ended.

    So to address the elephant in the room, which is "what the hell is Anya Taylor-Joy's accent?"
    Apparently her mother is English-South African, and her father Scottish-Argentinian. She was born in America, lived in Argentina as a kid speaking Spanish, then moved to England at age 6.
    In summary, her accent is English-American-Argentinian-Scottish-South African.

    • @d.s3980
      @d.s3980 3 роки тому +3

      No. Her accent is a mix between Rioplatense Castilian (Argentina) and British English (England). There is no such a thing as south african, spanish (spain) or American accent there!
      Anya was born in the States and returned to Argentina where she learnt her first language, at 8 y.o she learnt English at England. She has no family in the States and she moved there to work at hollywood when she got famous, when she was older and managed the language but I don’t hear American accent/words/slang when she speaks. The country classified Anya as a WOC lol...
      Her mom is not from South Africa, she is Zambian. She was born in the territory when it was a british colony known as “Northern Rhodesia” because Spain had problems and her dad was an english diplomat who decided to move the family there. (She is half Spanish half english) just like anya, she returned back when she was young (to Spain! and grew up in Zaragoza). She couldn’t claim the nationality, spanish citizenship is only given to men and anya said she doesn’t have the british (english) citizenship, but they have family in England. Her mom moved to Argentina where the family lived till the crisis and moved for work to the states and later to england. They have all their family in Argentina and England.
      Anya’s dad is 100% scottish (“scottish argentine” also known as Scots born in Argentina, is not half scottish half argentine, and there is no such a thing as argentine dna) both of his parents where born in scotland and he claimed the british citizenship from his parents and the argentine because he was born there. He comes from a very important british legacy in a very popular neighbourhood located in Buenos Aires. He worked for british-argentine relations, for the Argentine-British Chamber of Commerce and as an international banker.
      Anya’s dad as a direct ancestor, gave Anya the argentine and british citizenship, and Anya got the American because she was born in the States.
      She is 50% scottish 25%spanish 25%english. That’s all. And her accent sounds exactly like mixing Rioplatense (Intonation and dialect comes from Neapolitan language) with English (from england).
      She sounds exactly like Argentine falklanders and Welsh argentines from Y wladfa, same accent, same mix.

      @@d.s3980 As she has stated, she tends to mimic accents with whom she's closely interacting with, so with Olivia Cooke she's matching her English accent. On Live with Kelly and Ryan I can hear her speak in an American accent occasionally.

      @@d.s3980 Hi, Anya's father is in fact half Scottish, half English, due to both his mother and father being half Scottish and half English.

    How can any of you say that Olivia is boring?! It's clear to me she's a down to earth northern girl with none of the false graces and weird accentry that Anya (who I also love!) is displaying here. If I could be mildly sexist for a second, as a man I'd rather go on a date with Olivia. I'd feel like she's more real and have more to talk about than herself.

      UlrichUlrich Olivia is a girl next door type and a actress. Anya is a model who became a surprisingly good actress. Any girl next door might look plain and boring sitting next to a model. Olivia is a fully northern english lass. Anya is a British latin mix. That also helps her.
