Mark..."" and you should play donkey Kong Jr on cards.... 5 of them ... today!! ..... I LOVE VECTREX!"" That was funnnnny as all get go!! Way to go mark!
I happen to own a Nintendo e-Reader that I bought eleven years ago, and I still have it along with this game as well as "Mario Bros." and "Donkey Kong 3". :D
All this review did was remind me of how underwhelming the music was in Donkey Kong Country Returns. ... Until the Golden Temple level and its fantastic take on DK Jr's music, which can be heard in this review. But then Tropical Freeze came along and more than made up from DKCR's underwhelming soundtrack. TF's soundtrack is just an ornate buffet of phenomenal sound. I think it's better than DKC2's soundtrack. "Rodent Ruckus," "Bopopolis," "Busted Bayou," and so many others are just beautiful pieces of music. Then somewhere after Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8, the Wii U lost all value in my eyes. And nothing seems to be coming to salvage it. But at least it gave me Tropical Freeze, one of the very greatest of Donkey Kong games.
I've got the Famicom version. Really, if you've got a Famicom or an NES with an adapter, getting the Japanese version of first-party NES titles is the way to go. They're generally quite a bit cheaper (especially if you buy them in lots online), and most of them are identical to their NES counterparts, they've got so little text in them that nothing had to be translated. Even the famous "our princess is in another castle" line is inexplicably in English in the All Night Nippon version. I prefer the original DK, jumping in this one is a pain.
I got the e-reader for Christmas 2003 and I'm not sure if I'm the only person that discovered if you remove the e-reader while playing a game the game boy will not freeze up, you can continue playing the games without the E reader cartridge inserted
+Dark Hero Awesomeness But this is an emulated NES game so it "thinks" that it needs a second controller to do the 2 player game, which is impossible on the GBA. :\
"There's something magical about playing games on cards"
Oooh, so that's why the Turbografx 16 is so magical~!
+Ruko Michiharu Ohya!
+Ruko Michiharu and the master system

This is the NES version! It's not like it is it's own version of Donkey Kong Jr.!
I have the NES and ColecoVision versions.
I played the hell out of Donkey Kong Jr on colecovision when I was a kid.
Ha! Take that Luigi. Poor guy never gets a break.
Oh c'mon Mark. Luigi rules!!
+CarozQH just what i was thinking
Its been forever since I played this game.
I think the eReader works by recording the 0s and 1s in black pixels and white pixels, that's why it takes 6 cards to play Balloon Fight.
So much joy with this game
I've been watching cgrhd since I was in 6th grade, now I'm a freshman in college
"Luigi is a complete prick!!!" hahaha

Seductive computer voice FTW!

What did you say about luigi?
I think I know why the e-Reader never took off....you get a fold or a smudge on any one of the cards and you're screwed!
I actually own this, and the e-Reader
Some one make this man DK Jr for Vextrex...
Luigi didn't appear in a game until 1983's Mario Bros...
Nintendo came full circle with the cards thing here.

Come on, Mark...share that seductive voice with us.
Mario is evil.
Mario Power Tennis for example. During Luigi's celebration Mario is stepping on Luigi's foot.
Not as good as The Last of Us.
