Snake Eater Performance: Flow Bench Fist Fight

  • Many tuners and "Fuel Injector" service businesses rely on these small under powered flow benches, my intention is not to destroy anyone's business but inform the customer that so that they can make better decisions. An informed customer can see through dishonest internet or in-person salesman. Snake Eater Performance brings back the Launch or Autool fuel injector flow bench to compete with the ASNU. Snake Eater Performance uses two ASNU Classic GDI machines as our flow matching and testing machinery. Snake Eater Performance has used them for Bosch, Fuel Injector Connection, Injector Dynamics and many other fuel injectors and we feel the ASNU is the ONLY machine worth our time. Any high flow fuel injector deserves quality machinery and accurate flow results.

    I understand your issue with people that do not comprehend the limitations of the tool they are using and are attempting to damage your reputation. I would 100% agree the ANSU is in a different league from the Autool, and the older Autools used extremely poor fuel pumps and power supplies with too low current. I disagree on the wire size as for the length the wire size is adequate - the math works out. also it is the same size Holley uses on their HP and Dominator harness, and I have run over 2000HP on that harness.. Autool have corrected the Power supply and pump issue some extent - A good solution is running 1 or 2 injectors max at a time, while time consuming is a fair alternative to spending 10K+ for a small shop. In full disclosure, I use and have recommended your injectors many times, they are reliable and affordable and I can see why based on the passion you show here.

      I appreciate the well thought response and the kind words, thank you. I agree, the wire size is probably just fine, my own Holley HP has a similar diameter and you are correct the math checks just fine, I was incorrect there. I own and recommend the Autool for a reason, I agree it is a very great and affordable alternative to the ASNU, we just have to acknowledge its limitations which you have pointed out. Testing one or two at a time is how I flow matched the first sets of SEP when we started offering a cursory level flow match early on. I think they're a great resource for people who run alternative fuels simply as a means of flushing the more harsh fuels out of injectors without pickling an entire fuel system.

      Would the Autool CT400 be a good choice for a teaching aid . For myself as a learning aid . To see if this is something that I want to do as a retirement job. I would purchase an ASNU & GB Carbon Zapp machines for making $$$ on a customers injector if I want to pursue this line of work.

    so moral of the story, if you want to buy an affordable test bench you'll want to upgrade the fuel pump and add an external power supply.

      This. I put an Aeromotive 340lph pump and an external adjustable regulator on my china flow bench, it holds 3-6 bar (wherever I set it) no matter what injectors or test I'm running.

    Have you ever cleaned a direct injector with you autool system. I am trying to do my outboard injectors but can't get them to open at all. I hear the injector clicking, but no fluid will flow through on any psi from 20 to 75 psi. Any help would be welcome.

      Hey Ben! Not gonna be possible unfortunately. GDi requires a machine like the ASNU machine you see in the videos. The autool machine can barley open multiple OEM MPFI injectors. Theres a few folks who claim to have upgraded their autools somehow but I’m not able to speak on that and can’t see how.

      Most injectors will fit with a 14 to 11mm tophat adapter (if not upgrading your fuel rail). You will also need new injector connectors or the pigtails to adapt from obd1. You will have to ditch and bypass your resistor box with newer injectors. Then set your injector size in your basemap, reflash, and drive to your tuner.

    The real problem with all these cheap machines (and many "nice" ones) is batch firing, instead of sequential, and a complete lack of fuel pressure dampers.

      @@snakeeaterperformance but the cheap machines could be modified easily, right? Just as you would your build? The cheap machine is basically like stock and might be ok for stock components which is probably it’s intended use. Bigger pump and lines for volume and better electronics to supply adequate pulse, longer smaller diameter tubes to amplify results, lol, then it would be close to what y’all have. Which I guess brings the point of this video home, if you wanna test performance injectors you need a performance setup to do it?

    • @snakeeaterperformance
      @snakeeaterperformance  2 роки тому

      @@stevenbelue5496 I don’t know how easily they could be modifed tbh. I’ve looked in the back of them and chose not to myself. Some people say they have but the if the main controllers of the electronic signal were never built for that juice they’d be hard to modify while still interfacing with the control software/hardware of it.

      But for the cleaning process , both use ultra sonic cleaners , I can’t see a difference between the asnu and the red one ,, or is there one ? So that’s the cleaning ,, and for the testing the asnu (as shoes in the.the vid) is much much more accurate and consistent with its own results , the red one isn’t at all . And if you connect the asnu to a pc you’ll get additional data about the injectors (afa I’ve understood from the vid) ,, What other advantages the asnu have over the red one to explain this huge price difference ? Or it’s just like that??

    • @snakeeaterperformance
      @snakeeaterperformance  2 роки тому +1

      @@polvereoro86 as far as ultrasonic goes the red one probably does just as well. There are many affordable ultrasonic cleaners out there as well starting at $25-35 usd.
      The ASNU, when connected to the computer can command the injectors in nearly any way. You can control pulse width, RPM, Duty cycle, injection count, opening signal current and much more. It also has the ability to be hooked to a bench power supply so that you can supply the exact volt/amp combination you want to deliver. With all these features you can simulate nearly any condition on the engine except the actual heat of the engine bay. The red flow bench only has the ability to batch fire the injectors which means it spreads all its power across all injectors at once while the ASNU fires them in either batch or sequential so that you can give clean signal to each injector and test injectors that don’t have low operating volts. Many injectors will operate as low as 4v and .2 amps some are 9v and .7 the latter cannot be tested on a batch fire system.
