WOW! I saw Muti conduct "Aus Italien" with teh Philadelphia Orchestra in 1972 and 1986 and they were fantastic performances, especially the 1972 concert, which was in his 2nd week of appearances with the orchestra. I just watched his 2015 Berlin Phil performance and thought "Ok but not what I remember." Then I found this video. THIS is what i remember and this appears to be the Philadelphia Orchestra, probably on a 1987 European tour.

This week,in Budapest Muti will conduct this piece with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra :)

I saw him conducting in La Scala in 1997 during the dress rehearsal and the concert. Yet I prefer Neeme Jarvi
