When I was 39, I was depressed about turning 40. Then, at 39 1/2, I had open heart surgery. Could have died. Never so happy to see another birthday in my entire life. 40th bday was beautiful. My David Austin roses my were all in bloom (June - in Michigan,USA). Just celebrated 69th birthday in quarantine. Still loving life & appreciating all of it (well, most of it). I especially appreciate you Sarah. Thank you, as always, for the daily giggles & for tugging at my heartstrings on occasion. We all really do love you.
Another brilliant read Sarah. I remember being so happy the day I turned 40, because life begins at 40, bloody liars. When I turned 50, I cried all day I felt so old. Then last month I turned 60 I was so depressed, we were supposed to celebrate in Mexico as part of our cruise, thanks to sodding Covid and being confined to the house for 12 weeks , but yay I could open a window, and look outside........I’ve ended up on antidepressants, they didn’t help, they doubled the dose. For tea I’m having weetabix, the tablets are giving me bloody constipation. Welcome to my glamorous life...... you and Gary stay safe xxxxx
I felt terrible when I turned 50, felt even worse when I got to 60, hope when I get to 70 I start to feel better! Constipation - prunes and the juice should help, Hope you get another chance to have your holiday😊
It's my dad's 84th birthday today. We're having all things PIE. Hamburger pie, apple pie and lemon meringue pie. He says there's only two kinds of pie he likes, hot pie and cold pie ('though he admits warm pie works in a pinch if he's missed it as a hot pie and it hasn't cooled down to cold yet).
A few weeks ago, I started my own sourdough starter. With today's discard, I made maple walnut bread. It is delicious!! I loved what you said about your friends being amazing people. I think the same about my friends, and I wonder why they choose to be friends with me. But I don't ask, because they might start to wonder too!
For tea, we're having Sunday dinner part 2!!! Yep, same as yesterday: roast beef, yorkies, spuds, veg, gravy, and horseradish sauce. All plated up, cling filmed, and microwaved! Don't boo me... it means no waste, and no cooking for one day! xx
Sarah, you are wonderful!! I have been watching you everyday since you started this and its my little five mins to escape from the reality of lock down and real life, where I can listen to you and laugh without an agenda. I look forward to 3pm everyday because of you, so thank you, your a blessing and a gift
We were invited to our friends tonight, had hamburgers on the BBQ, baked potato, and black forest cake! So nice to finally see good friends in person again. Hope you enjoy your supper!
I think the Hashtag idea is fantastic☺ the fact you can all watch a TV show or film and comment x simple idea makes you feel.so much better😆 this is another thing you have done that makes me admire you so much. You are a lady with such a kind heart xxxxxx
Monday’s dinner was leftover corned beef with gravy and potato gems. Tomorrow’s will be chicken parcels stuffed with spinach and ricotta, served with chips and mixed veg. Planning on chicken parmigiana and chips, a pub style meal, for the end of the week in memory of my Dad’s passing 6 years ago. It was his favourite dinner.
Hiya Pam. Hope everything is OK over there. Josie has completed her Chemotherapy and has now started Radiotherapy. I did shave my hair off when she lost hers. She took one look at my head and said grow it back! 😂😂😂
@@alanjackson2712 so great to hear from you!!! It's snowing here! Tell Josie that I send good vibes her way, and hopefully your hair grows back quickly, for her sake! 😆
Dear Sarah, Judging by the comments, it looks like you're getting all kinds of Champions to come out of the woodwork....uff, what a great relief to know that you don't have to be perfect to be lovable. 😀♥️ Lots of love to you.
I’m in a new decade this year, I turned thirty. I’m grateful for your advice, I’m still single and sometimes don’t feel valued by society because of this. I’m working toward valuing and investing in myself and being a hard worker.❤
Breadfeast Bonanza! Chiabatta rolls with lovely cheddar on, melting slowly on the hot bread. Hade bake-ups left from the weekend so why not. Bread and cheese is always lovely.
I loved turning 40. You're right, it's about not feeling obliged to do anything you don't want to. So I didn't have a 40th party but instead my husband and I did "Zoo Keeper for a Day" at my favourite zoo park. I got to pat a Rhino, feed Tasmanian Devils and get eyed off as lunch by the Lions. Best day ever, great way to usher in my 40's!
That's a weird raffle prize! Chinese chicken fried rice today. Picked up on Saturday. The restaurant had a table up at the entrance-part of a barricade into the restaurant where they set the carry out/to go/take away orders. I'm very excited.
I was 28 when I dined alone and I felt very grown up and proud of myself. Everyone has to eat, and why not treat myself to a great dinner without all the fuss of waiting for anyone.
Thanks for making 40 sound so positive. I think we definitely give less of a toss in our 40s, and take less crap. For my 40th, I didn’t get sloshed, but I think I just ate my way through it haha. The family made breakfast, took me out for lunch, and then hubby bought a takeaway for dinner. I don’t like big parties and fuss, so it suited me perfectly.
For tea tonight I had pan seared ocean trout. The skin was so crispy. It was frozen then thawed so not the freshest but bloody brilliant type of fish to eat!
I made meatballs and a quick bolognese sauce, a salad with peaches and grilled halloumi cheese for dinner. Dessert was a key lime meringue pie (in a chocolate cookie crust).. delicious! 😊
With your marrowfat peas raffle prize it reminded me of our worst raffle prize win, when I lived in the UK, (been away for over 17 years now!) our village always had its Christmas fair in November, they had a tombola, it was the kind of tombola that if a 4 pack of lager was donated it would be split into 4 prizes, I have won some dodgy stuff from there, grecian 2000 for men, but the real worst one was 5 assorted saucers! The lady did look somewhat shamefaced as she handed them over, needless to say they did not make it back home. I have enough clutter! Thank you Sarah for doing this, I love your shows and hope that when everything is lifted and you can travel that you will bring your show back to Switzerland, we loved your last show here, Control Enthusiast, take care of you and yours big love from 🇨🇭
Just finished breakfast, but for tea/dinner planning on pasta salad with pesto, sundried tomatoes etc, all the yummy things and a steak. Have a good day from New Zealand

It was kinda hot here in NC, usa, so my sib & I had slices of mozzarella & gouda cheese, crackers, almonds, cashews, carrots, kale (raw), & garlic stuffed olives. We were stuffed after, I know it doesn't sound like much, but all the different things really added up & it was yummy!
