Laura's version is so raw and powerful. My favorite version of this song by far.
Same here, man. I've listened to the CD and JR versions countless times, but nothing can beat the raw and saddest emotion of Laura's version.
ua-cam.com/video/8mRUZHF0QQM/v-deo.html
Ditto!
If you dug Laura, check out "Gloria," then "Self Control." She was a big 80s artist who rarely gets talked about anymore. But her voice was one of a kind.
Yes Yes... my 2 favorites also. "Self Control" by Laura - was something else... from the movie - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Gloria and this song are great to react to. MTV found the video too risque' to play but Europe and the world did play it. "The song was about losing your self-control to the night or to someone," Laura said in a interview. "We had a man representing the night, wearing a mask. There were all these great dancers wearing masks by Willa Shalit. There's a shot where the man comes into my bedroom, taking me into the night. He appears and disappears. The video was also directed by William Friedkin who did (The French Connection, The Exorcist).
@@davidw7 One of my all time favorite music videos.
She was always amazing. She died too young. Celine did this song as well. These were my college years. Loved her
JENNIFER RUSH BEST 1 ! Laura can't handle this song!
@@CCCP-sr9ou Gimme a break
One of the best american singers of all time!
The best version of this song, PERIOD! Laura grabs you and hold on until She is damn good and ready to let go. All other versions are a performance. Laura's is raw emotion and believable.
This performance from Laura hits me the same way as watching Secretariat coming down the home stretch at the Belmont in 1973. Nothing else comes close.
Laura is amazing! So yeah, Jeniffer Rush is the original, and Celine Dion also does a notable version of this, but for me, Laura's is the definitive version of this song! Her voice - the power, the rasp, the tenderness, the emotion - all of it together!!!!!!! She has a lot of other great songs worth checking out, Gloria and Self Control are musts for her. God bless her, RIP Laura.
I don’t think anyone will beat Laura’s rendition😮❤
Nope
Incredible isn’t she. Just can’t believe anyone can have such a powerhouse voice with such control. She was gorgeous too.
Best version of Power of Love by far. She was amazing and very underrated!

고음은 낼 수 있습니다.
그러나 감정전달의 수단으로 목을 긁는

하늘나라에서 편히 지내시길 바랍니다.
You are wrong nobody sings it like Jennifer rush 😊
Există doar o Putere a Dragostei și aceia e a lui Jennifer Rush. Nimic nu este peste
By far the best versiun, the most powerfull voice
Imho , Jennifer's is the best one.
Better than Celines version 100 percent.
One million percent 😊
They sound similar but Laura has the emotion in this song.
Laura does an excellent job here, Jennifer Rush would approve, RIP Laura. Fantastic voice, nice reaction.
Laura Branigan version is the best such a voice and passion
YES,CAN MAKE U CRIED 😢
I FEEL IT
Astounding!! Without a doubt the dominant version!! Gives me shivers!! Passion to the max!!!
Whoever thinks Jennifer or Celines version is better needs their soul checked over!!
I like the original by Jennifer the most. I think she has a way prettier voice overall. But thats just my preference, she was big in europe in the 80s so her voice is well known to me.
Thank You, Laura's Version is the ONLY VERSION
@@bobaquatics6776 Jennifer's is beautiful. But I still prefer this version and Laura's voice better.
Laura Branigan had an amazing voice, such a sad loss... my favorite song is Self Control, but that is mostly because it's 80's-tastic. :)
My sister had her cassette for Self Control, and I listened to it constantly (I was 5). Absolutely fell in love with her voice and that song! #1 track for sure!
the best powerful voice one and only laura
Laura is Laura ! The best !!!
Laura Brannigan, THE BEST
Angel on Earth ❤
Laura was a force. Gloria is the next one to check out. Great reaction!
Gorgeous, and one of the best voices in pop music history.
I'm a Laura Branigan fan and my favorite songs are Self Control & Gloria.
I love every single song on “Touch”!!
I met her once back stage at a club in Miami and she couldn’t have been sweeter and she even autographed a flyer I was holding in my hand and then a second one to take home to a friend who was ill. I’ll never forget her kindness and beautiful music. ❤
Laura is my favorite, power of love is my favorite song, strong very intense
without a doubt the best and most powerful
This has always been my favorite version---by far.
I love your reaction. You really do justice to an out-of-this-world performance. Her smile alone makes a guy melt. Then there's that voice...utterly transcendent.
This was perfection! I love Laura RIP!
She was one of the great female voices ever. She had a four octave range and she was beautiful. Check out Gloria and How am I supposed to live Without You.
Laura Branigan is still my favorite ❤.
The climax to her song Solitaire, she holds that note till next week as loud as she can go.
Laura's Version So Beautiful &She Had So Much Raw Talent. ❤❤❤❤
The power of Laura's voice.
Got to see Laura in Las Vegas at the Hilton. She Melted the crowd with all of her songs and voice. I felt very fortunate to have a front row seat to really see how powerful her craft was.
Self Control, Solitaire and The Lucky one are some of Laura's best songs. She was so talented.
Laura Branigan was one of the biggest female stars of the 1980s. She had some monster hits with songs like Gloria (#2), Self Control (#4) and several more that broke into the top 40. One of my favorite albums of hers, simply called "Laura Branigan" from 1990, didn't get as much airplay, but has some really awesome hits with songs like Moonlight on Water, Let Me In and Bad Attitude.
That is one of the greatest performances ever. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
One od the best female voices ever!
JENNIFER RUSH BEST 1!!! Laura can't handle this song!
@@CCCP-sr9ou I prefer this and Celine's version over Jennifer's version because I don't Like music in Jennifer's version!
“What did I just watch?” Magic
I still love Laura. Such an amazing voice. ❤
Laura branigan the best powerful voice 😍😍😍😘😘😘
She makes it seem effortless. She was one of a kind. Unique.
In my opinion this is by far the best version of Jennifer Rush's original. Laura's voice is so much stronger and more emotional than Jennifer's or Celine's.
I have all of Laura's CDs and was her biggest fan. If you want to hear her range then definitely check out Solitaire, Shattered Glass, How Am I Supposed to Live Without You, I Found Someone and Gloria. My favorite Laura song is not a famous top 10 hit but should have been nonetheless. It's called The Sweet Hello the Sad Goodbye, and it will haunt you.
Don't Forget "OVER YOU" she blows it out of the water
Power of love sung by the power of Laura brannigan absolutely incredible
She was an incredible singer.
She had a great voice. Sadly, she died at the age of 52 from a brain aneurysm.
RIP Laura...She was a force. ❣️🌹✨️
I was going to comment the same thing. She passed in 2004. She was so amazing! I was a teen back then. She was definitely one of my favorite 80's female artists from those days.
R. I. P Laura 😢
I think she was 46 when she died,
She left too soon and was so unique and really fantastic.
R.I.P. Laura
you have the best reaction emotion on the song. I like it. That is how I felt when first time I heard this song from her. She is the one for this song
Solitaire and this song are my favorites. I remember when they played her music on the radio and still have all her albums. For that vocal power please listen to Solitaire, you wont be disappointed. RIP sweet Laura.
I was seriously in love with this woman but wanted her to to be then best she can be and all I wanted for her is to be loved. She just was incredible and that's it!!!!!❤❤
yes I loved Laura
Have all her music.
What a voice... Such power.
Miss her

She was powerful and the Power of Love was my late wife's favorite and she lived by it.
Totally underrated vocalist. She and Donna Summer had the best voices of the 80s.
She was AMAZING!!! ❤😊
She was utterly amazing, loved her so much. “The Lucky One” and “Self Control” are my favourites but soooo many great songs ❤
What a vibrato, fabulous, miss her badly
I fell in love with laura's voice ever since i heard her youtube videos specially that song.
Great reaction SalvoG! I love your reaction when you say “what did I just watch” and how much you appreciate their voice! So sad she passed away so young! RIP Laura Branigan🙏
❤❤❤ Laura Branigan love her version of Power Of Love & Spaish Eddie as well as Gloria Solitaire Self Control R.I.P Laura Branigan
When I was a kid I walked in and the song was playing in my mom was crying and I said what was wrong? She said she had never heard anything so beautiful.
That's how I became aware of Laura branigan because I'm a little younger than when she was popular.
She had resonance let me tell you something not a lot of range but her chest belts our next level beyond Whitney Celine and Mariah it can almost sound a little shrill like she could break glass. That's the best version of this song.
Forever Laura!!!
Gone too soon! Ms. Branigan a class act and what a voice!
Just heard this song on sound cloud in a ballard mix, I ran down to UA-cam. The power of internet immortalizing history.
I had such a huge crush on Laura when I was 11. I still have a visceral reaction to hearing her songs. Another band from that time frame that takes me right back to 1982 is The Motels- simply haunting.
Motels yes! Only the Lonely
Yes, Only the Lonely and Suddenly Last Summer could almost be a single video- same haunting vibe. They were a minimalist version of new wave coming out of LA in late 70s, but always had a haunting, yearning, quality that truly found full expression by 1982-83.
Loved The Motels.
🔥
I am so glad you covered this version. Celine Dion has a nice cover and while technically very good as Celine always is, I highly favor Laura's version for being "edgier", the way she shreds her voice on this is amazing. I still miss hearing Laura's voice. She died of a brain hemorrhage/aneurysm several years ago. The man hosting is Alan Thicke of "Growing Pains" and father of singer Robin Thicke.
Laura and Celine share another song called Unison. Laura again has the better version.
If you want to hear a crazy good Celine rock/pop song check out I Feel Too Much.
We had a lot of amazing performers in the 80s. So glad people are beginning to hear them again. We had such a variety then too. I wish it were more like that now instead of 10 songs by one performer on the Top 40. And we had way more songs about love rather than lust.
With this video I fell in love with Laura, with that passion any man would fall in love with her.
Loved her singing…RIP Laura❤
GLORIA. That's all any of need to say.
She was so good. There were some great ladies back in the 80s
While the rock lovers were dissing disco, it was producing some of the best vocalists the world has seen. Especially females.
For an impressive male cover of this song, check out Air Supply's version. But yeah, Laura had incredible range. RIP, she is missed.
Yes!! Agreed. Russell Hitchcock of Air Supply❤️
Celine dion covered this song 6 years later. Laura B was a power pop queen of the mid to late 80’s. If you want to hear her power in An uptempo song check out Gloria. You can’t go wrong on any of her songs
I'm glad you enjoyed this - great choice for a Laura Branigan intro song. I hope you react to more of her work.
This woman could SING! She made it look effortless. Even when she was belting it out live, you could easily tell that she still had a lot more power waiting in the tank. RIP Laura. Sadly, she died far too young from a brain aneurysm (at the age of 52).
She is phenomenal.. this is an edited version of the truly amazing song!
Years ago i would go to Kirker's Steak house in latham and Laura was working there. So glad she made it big before her untimely death. She had such a great voice and style.
That was my exact reaction after hearing Laura. Celine who??? She was AMAAAAZING.
Gloria !!!!!!!!!! Her huge hit!!!!!!
No no no no, you HAVE TO DO How am I Supposed To Live Without You
I love Self Control by her.
This song was released in 1985, and it was one of 3 different songs called "The Power of Love" to make the UK charts that year. The other versions of TPOL were by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Huey Lewis and the News.
One of the most underrated singers in my opinion along with Irene Cara and Russell Hitchcock from Air Supply who also does an amazing cover of this song. I love her song Self Control and of course Gloria. She died way too young. RIP
it makes me cry. every time
People can talk about Jennifer Rush, Celine Dion doing this song. But Laura Branigan OWNS this song
She really does!
EXACTLY!!!!!!!
Well, Jennifer Rush wrote the song, so the song wouldn't exist without her. Jennifer's original is wonderful.
Actually Celine Dion did do a cover version of this song - so maybe that is also why you had "Celine Dion" vibes. :)
I know you do the hits on this channel, but Laura Branigan has a deep catalog of originals and covers.
One of my favorites is a cover of "Forever Young" by Alphaville. Must hear.
Oh she sings in Spanish as well, and some of her Spanish language songs are her best.
La mejor calidad de interpretar esa canción
I cried
I'm biased but the 80's had so so many great songs. From middle school through college took me through the 80's and I still love that time in music.
This isn't the whole version of the song. She has many songs with this emotion.
This live version is just my favorite.
I love L.B. force, passion and beauty.
Some people prefer the original version from Jennifer Rush, others Celine Dion version, Air Supply version and other artists versions.
Any version is different so I like and enjoy them all.
Would love to see you compare Jennifer Rush's original.
Thanks for reviewing Laura this song 🎧 a the best and most powerful version of this song ,
Brings back good memories... I grew up with her music... and it still causes goose pimples 40 years later.
Alan Thicke is the host. He was the dad on Growing pains. Laura Branigan is such a power house! Love the channel
And also father of pop star Robin Thicke. Alan Thicke had a late night show (it bombed) so maybe this is from that.
She was a very Talented singer. Powerful voice.
Chills on chills ❤️🔥
"...and you are my man" No one does it better. Runner up: Ygritte and John Snow
without a doubt the BEST cover version of this song!
Wow, i didn't know Laura covered this BEFORE Celine Dion. 😱🤯
I've listened to the CD and JR versions countless times, but nothing can beat the raw and saddest emotion of Laura's version. Her interpretation is pure heavy and finest
