Looks like making pompoms got way easier than the original method. Thanks Brooke!

  • @windidiot

This is not as easy as it looks. Once you start cutting between the 2 templates your pom pom strands are unsecured. You must be extremely careful not to disturb the strands out of place.
It helps to wrap this way more times than you think so that when you start cutting the free strands are thick enough to occupy enough of the donut hole that they don't just fall away from the template. Work carefully until you tie the sting between the 2 templates.

This is how we made them when we were kids, so easy and depending on how thick or thin the wool is, it can keep you going for a while.
My daughter got a kit that had little plastic circles to make them with which didn't go so well so I showed her this way and it was easier.

A lot of comments are saying this doesn't work, but it worked for me. When you are cutting it make sure you are holding the string down as you cut, so that way it doesn't all fall apart. Keep holding it down until you tie the final string THEN let go. It works a lot better that way. Anyway, thanks a lot for this video, it was lots of fun to make and turned out super pretty! PS I subscribed:)

Brooke, tracing the circle with. The cup a second time was easier! The circle was to small when I placed it on top of the cardboard and cut it out! The second one looked like and Easter egg not a circle! That was my way! Great DIY btw!

Hi, when you are wrapping the yarn are you wrapping from the back or front? And when you cut between the cardboard, how is the yarn staying on and forms the pom pom? When I cut mine, the yarn falls off.

Great tutorial. I have a Large pompom maker Maker but I needed a smaller one for a smaller child's hat so I used this and it worked perfectly!~ You have to tie the string twice though after you tie the first time flip cardboard and tie from opposite direction and then remove the pompom...sooo easy!

    • @irmar

You probably didn't secure the center with a yarn and two knots. If you do that, nothing comes off. People have been making pompons with this method for ages.

You could actually make a Pom-Pom by rapping yarn on your fingers 100 times and then, take the yarn out your fingers.Tie a not with some extra yarn in the center, and then cut in the loops on both sides.Love it Brooke
