Love how chill and respectful the video is, despite big differences in how people function. For me, I totally relate to your wife: a degree of clutter and chaos comforts me and makes me better able to relax at home. But then somehow my car, backpack and digital life are organized to an OCD level.

Haha, thanks! That's cool that you have a mix depending on the environment.

Watching the clutter gives me physical pain. You’re not alone. I want to jump into the video and organize

Haha, so funny how we're built. I feel the same way. Out of love I try to ignore certain areas as best I can, but every couple of weeks I usually give a nudge. She's always compliant and it stays clean for an hour or two (haha).

I completely agree. Clutter is bad. Neat and organized is the way to go. Yes, it's a SNOW DAY. Binge watching time.

I am a recovering slob, as well as everything else. Recovering butthole, etc....
Here's what has worked for me.
    1) Never, ever, ever shut someone out merely for being a slob, unless they are completely foul.
    2) Boundaries. Absolutely refuse to think of a slob as "childish", unless they have other nasty habits going on. Unless you can influence them to change, have a one on one discussion with your housemate, partner, whatever. Work out areas to keep things and duties. If boundaries are violated, call them on it.
And 3), Remember, it all boils down to beliefs. If the person changes their beliefs about slovenliness, they will start to clean things up.

Thanks for the words of wisdom! It's always important to try to see yourself in the other person's shoes (even if those shoes were left out and I trip over them lol).

Your wife and I are the same, I leave things out all the time. You would hate my backyard...my yard tools sit outside because I'll need it again. They are rusty, but I've had them for years and it just works for me. I do try to make sure my living spaces are cleaned, that is my breaking point...my closet, bathroom counter, craft room...meh :)

Haha, you guys would get along. I need organizations, but we've learned to make it work! She has her areas, and I have my clean areas (lol). Have a good one!

Boyfriend get really angry and has rages I get really sad and Ive made big improvements on it and now make it a priority but I find myself cleaning all day it seems. He says I don't care but I do care. It just has to be how he likes it which is in mint condition. I get stoned for not keeping it that way at every giving moment. Which means I can't even leave anything out at all. Otherwise he will yell and scream with anger and rage.

I'm sorry about the rage and yelling. That's not right. My wife and I talk about it. Something I just have to let go because life isn't perfect. She has areas that she's allowed to be messy in and other areas we strive to keep clean. I hope you work it out. Hang in there!

    1. Don't. They're miserable and will make you miserable, too.
