As a Loftus descendant. I never knew there was an actual place called Loftus, Ireland! What a beautiful video that makes me want to search back further into my Irish roots; to find out just how I am related to these people! Thanks so much for the video.
Nicely put together, and nice background music and narration. some good photos, but overall it really hasnt changed that much in all those years has it.
Hi Kathy, I'm so sorry to have to tell you that Loftus is not in Ireland. Loftus is on the North East coast of England in between Middlesbrough and Whitby. It is a lovely little town with lots of history so well worth a look.
My mother, Jean WIGGINS wrote two books of Loftus in old photographs. You could of at least mentioned her as you obviously used photos from her books which both her and Dad had spent a great deal of time researching and collating.
Have traced my ancestry to the Featherstone family of 13 Duncan Place Loftus but have found since that 13 doesn't exist, in later census their home is listed as no number, wondered if anyone can help.
@@ericgeorge5483 Hi Eric. The books were titled 1. Around Loftus. 2. Loftus in Old Picture Postcards. Mum spent a lot of time visiting local people gathering photos and their stories. I hope either of these books your mum had and enjoyed it. Thanks for your comment 👍😊
@@davejohn1588 I am sure she had both and loved both of them. I will have to ask my dad if he still has them. Lost my Mam a couple of years ago. She was from Durham originally but lived in Loftus for over 60 years and loved the town.
I holidayed there 2 years ago and it’s a grand place and so handy for touring the beautiful area surrounding it.
So touching for an East Clevelander. The pictures and tales of life are beautiful and the accompanying music adds to this superb little film.

I think you're getting the town of Loftus in England confused with Loftus hall which is indeed in Ireland in Co Wexford.
