His appearance on Colbert where he talked about the coronavirus was.... illuminating
It showed Stewart still had it and Colbert did not
Its showed Stewart will push BS to get attention. We still don't know how the virus originated.
@@peterstafford4426 Of course we don't, and we probably never will. But to completely shut out a valid theory is suspicious, no? Seems like close-minded thinking.
@@peterstafford4426 you think he got onto CBS prime time and said something that wasn't pre-approved?
@@peterstafford4426 you're an idiot. That's the point, as DON'T KNOW. Why was the media spinning it like it almost definitely came from a bat or a pangolin or some silly shit?

Jon Stewart invented divisive coverage.
I like Jon Stewart, but that's really damning him with faint praise.
@Doc Benson Jon Stewart is a completely spineless hack. He does something not completely stupid and you lot just RAVE about his 'integrity.'

The things people do for $$ will never cease to amaze me
Journalist: How do you feel about gender neutral bathrooms at school?
Regular person: Why are you not asking me about the literacy rate at our schools?
Jon Stewart: Points out the irrelevance of a political headline.
Jake Tapper: "They have a point."
I think Tapper was trying to make a joke that they were covering their bases by having both points.
@@universalsoldier2293 that's the generous interpretation 😉
@@universalsoldier2293 I thought that was Jon's point. By only discussing the "Horse Race" they are having it both ways and using hours of time and terabytes of space to say nothing of particular value to anyone outside the beltway...Especially with CNN, that's not "Covering your bases" that's fence sitting or in the cases of the particularly self-righteous among the commentators, truth arbitration...

Absolutely...
Nah, his face said everything. He got it, but has to pretend he didn't, because he knows what his overlords will do if he even validates it enough to deny it. He has to play stupid, and he wants to.
Easily, I sense that with Bari Weiss and Jon Stewart, CNN could be allowing these dialogues to show some kind of balance, they have no real way of expanding viewership other than putting their puppets out there in the forefront of issues which they clearly know nothing about.

Last time he went to CNN to criticize one of their shows (crossfire) it got canceled the next day!
@@havable That’s true. I forgot about that. That was a great back and forth he had with Tucker.
You can dismiss mainstream media
He’s the guy who forces the media to stop pretending Ron Paul didn’t exist. Which is why they had to go next level to try to brand him as racist to cancel him which is laughable now considering all the coverage they gave Donald Trump.
@@truthbearer7891 Ron Paul did have a lot of racist stuff in his newsletter though, even if he didn’t write it, it had his name on it, and he distributed it. If you can’t bother to read what you send in your newsletter before it gets sent out, and edit it, then why should we believe that you are capable of running a country?
But I’m with you on Trump. The media boosted him, and put him in the position he’s in because it was good for their ratings. They couldn’t cover him enough. And whether you agree with Trump’s policies or not, he clearly divided the country, and the media fed right into this.
A recent poll came out saying that the country is more divided now than it was right before the Civil War.

Ok I’m finally going to say something after holding my tongue hoping there might be some reconciliation with the stance these two claim to have about not shaming people. I fell in love with these two back on Rising and happily joined up when they moved themselves to their Breaking Points platform. I’m constantly telling my friends and coworkers to watch appreciating how thoughtful they are about trying to provide straight up information while being aware of their own biases. I don’t always agree with all their takes but am usually refreshed to get their perspectives. I say all of this as a wind-up to my big “however” because I really want them to succeed and be around and get the following they deserve for creating this show. HOWEVER every time Sagar does his “boomer” jab/joke they loose me a little bit. I’m not ashamed of when I was born or the journey my generation has gone through to learn our particular lessons. Every generation stands on the shoulders of advancements and the trash pile of mistakes of those generations who came before. Every young generation is naturally and rightfully critical of those who become entrenched as they they get older, and the older generations do need the freshness of the young to help us keep from calcifying. I can’t help but feel every time “boomer” gets thrown out that it’s a way of pre-perceiving who we are without having to truly see us and allow us to be challenged in a respectful way. I know you’re proud of your young following but I also know there is a huge group of us young old people who want to support populist ideas and ideals who don’t want to be dismissed or lumped into a predetermined group based on anyone’s biases. So please think about the use of “boomer“ and how an entire group is being alienated by being made the butt of your joke. Or at least stop claiming that you don’t shame people for who they are rather than the actions they take.
You're absolutely right. And people here keep saying, "It's just a joke." Come on. Yes, it's just a joke, just like a kid in elementary school calls an overweight kid bad names. "Come on, man! I had heard the phrase "die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" before, but I had never witnessed it unfold until Jon Stewart left the Daily Show while Colbert went on to CBS.
@Danny Archer l think Mr Hyde (Colbert) is indeed a villain since he's enabling the continuing ratcheting effect towards right-wing fascism, courtesy of the neoliberal establishment.
All he said is something people like trump and Tom Cotton had said for a long time
@Danny Archer Yeah, it really started with Reagan's trickle down economics philosophy and, like I said, the Democrats ran with it (courtesy of the DLC's "New Democrat" formation in 1985). So it's now a bipartisan effort as in turning America into a corporate state, but the Republicans want to take it to the next level with a corporate dictatorship. And if you don't think Trump wanted to be a dictator (i.e. talking to the military about indiscriminately shooting protesters and overturning a democratiically held election) then you're the one suffering from a derangement syndrome.
@Danny Archer
You do have a point about Colbert's lack of potency. He used to be a major name, now he's become a parody of what he used to satirize. He's an over-payed partisan political pundit who's fanbase only consists of those who want to be reaffirmed of what they already believe. His cultural relevancy has dwindled.
On the other hand, Trump's role as a figurehead of the right-wing fascist movement will be a matter of relevance for years to come, and a matter of scholarly debate for generations. Just because the man has been out of office for a couple years doesn't mean he's irrelevant considering he spent a term being the most powerful person on the planet because of the aforementioned fascist movement and it's partisan collaborators. Until that fascist movement fades away, it's pure idiocy to accuse someone of TDS.
During the last stretch of Stewart on the Daily Show he was becoming increasingly angry over the politics he was lampooning. He couldn’t hide that. He made the right decision to quit. Colbert’s character was more of a high wire act of simultaneously being an establishment voice and pointing out the absurdity of establishment positions. All the money is in defending the establishment. Rachel Maddow, Tucker Carlson, and Colbert can attest to that. Colbert sold out is the simplest explanation but I tuned him out when he did that. To me he is just another body floating in the river of disinformation.

Based on his reaction, it's clear Jake Tapper didn't think Jon Stewart was talking about CNN. It went completely over his head. It never occurred to Jake T that the company who cuts his check is the one doing this. The cognitive dissonance is remarkable when you see it play out this way.
That's because John Stewart didn't mention it that way, so his response was weak, and nothing to be fawning over
Tapper missed it 100%. Thought the same thing. Not the brightest bulb.
@@71jolanc "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." - Upton Sinclair
What didnt occur to Breaking Pojnts is he was talking about what they do also.
Yes, Jake Tapper used to be a very fine and intrepid journalist well before he was coronated with an a desk anchor position. Of course, as with so many others in the corporate media universe, his integrity began bleeding off directly proportionately to the growth in his paycheck and renown.
I'm a boomer and I watch a lot of younger people on UA-cam. That's pretty ageist of you two.........
How do you live that long and not learn how to take a joke?
Its as ugly to make offense as to take offense....Say hello from your identity without shitting on anyone.
It was pretty obvious to me that they were joking.
OK boomer.
Agree with you Nancy. That's why I mostly stick to Rising, they're adults.
I'll give Jon credit when he goes on The Daily Show and calls out Trevor Noah for the same BS.
The intelligence and wordsmithery with which Jon delivers an obvious off-the-cuff response speaks volumes about his intelligence, character, and thoughtfulness. I rarely agreed with many of his past takes, but I always respected his opinions. Pretty solid dude overall.
Hey Saagar, like John Stewart, I am "a boomer" and I watch UA-cam.
"Too much of a Boomer to watch UA-cam#. Seriously, did you just make an ageist dig? The last frontier of discrimination. Love you guys.
Complaining about people using "boomer" is such a boomer move.
Hey Saagar, I'm a boomer (on the wrong side of 60) and I was an early subscriber to Breaking Points!
I'd hardly call that "calling them out".
clean up your clickbait headlines, please, Clickbait titles lower your credibility. John absolutely did NOT call out CNN, he made a very generic statement that dear old Jake could just chuckle along with. Love John's new podcast, though.
They need the views
@@iforgor6806 I agree with mars54. I don't think it's the right strategy to get those views from their target demographic (which I believe is left-leaning people under the age of 40). I loved Krystal and Saagar when they were on The Hill, but the clickbait titles (and random vague dragging of Jon Stewart, among others) are turning me off from them and making them seem less genuine than they used to be when they were on The Hill. Let's get back to substantive journalism with integrity please.
I don't know. It seemed like he just DESTROYED cnn with FACTS and LOGIC if you ask me.
Almost wrote the same thing. Later on in this interview Stewart talks about how the media is horrible at deescalation. This is not deescalating. I love Breaking Points but you are not perfect and you won’t ever be unless you can have some self reflection
When the world needed him most, Jon Stewart returned to unite the world against the Fire Nation.
One year too late… so brave 🥴
“It’s too flattering for my ego” that’s hilarious
0:25 "required" Aisle... So a whole extra aisle the big corporate stores can add...
And amazon can just add another warehouse...
Meanwhile the minimum wage workers who are going to have to stock that aisle are forgotten...
Saagar talking about divisive coverage, throws in a boomer comment. 😆
But we can't mention his overproductive saliva glands, smh.
I think that was meant in sarcasm... But point made and valid as well.
Edit: Original post was true for the last couple days to as recently as yesterday evening, but I did not double check this morning before posting OP below and as others have pointed out it is available on UA-cam again. Apologies as was not attempting to be misleading. But definitely was true and easy to verify by looking at the time gap in most recent comments under video showing a 2 day gap from this mornings comments to those prior to it being pulled.
OP:
The real Jon Stewart story that nobody is seemingly talking about is how one of his first segments on "The Problem" was pulled from UA-cam due to censorship. His piece on "What's more Hitler, COVID or wearing masks?" was on point. This just happened a couple days ago.
no, it wasn't on point...... covid will eventually go away, but oppressive democrats are not going anywhere
Ummm... that video is available currently on YT
ua-cam.com/video/gFCkaaUs83o/v-deo.html
@@Clark42EoC No, it was not pulled.
Jon Stewart was mocking Conservatives Comparing COVID-19 Regulations To Nazi Germany.
ua-cam.com/video/gFCkaaUs83o/v-deo.html
Jon was pulling an old Colbert show like joke.
Never take some rando's comment for being true, when they have an agenda(or are really dumb).
It's been put back up and that's a good thing. It was definitely pulled for likely about 48 hours and UA-cam showed the "pulled for violating community guidelines etc etc" line as of last night. I only knew this because I tried to show family it a couple days ago and checked yesterday evening to find the same.
TLDR: nothing to see here.
@itkojecockot.....Actually, sars-cov-2 is now deemed to be an endemic virus, meaning it will recur globally with each new mutation (AKA variant).
So no, sars-cov-2 will NOT “eventually go away” as you suggest. The frequency of cases will ebb and flow with the passing of seasons, not unlike how influenza comes and goes every year.
Unfortunately, sars-cov-2 is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Strap yourself in, we’re all going to be talking about coronavirus for years to come.
I wrote down "...the overwhelming majority of stories seek to expose the conflict lines" in a note on my phone so I don't forget that idea the next time I'm debating the state of world affairs with someone. It's a great observation!
I heard what you said and I wanted to let you know that I am a "Boomer" and I watch daily, I feel like I get more, better and even news here than anywhere else that I have found.... Please keep it up !!
You need to cut it out with the jokes stereotyping boomers. It promotes more culture war BS that you claim to oppose.
Ok , I'm a boomer watching you since The Hill. I understand, Saargha, you're still very young.
Yes, me too. Sometimes he's just a haircut.
I don't understand- why would you insult 1000's of your viewers.
The fact that Stewart even acknowledges CNN is DISGUSTING...
Jon Stewart is a man of reason and certainly no sheep. Love how he gets his point of view across without anger and ego. Media people get stopped in their tracks when held to task in regards to their agenda and shortsightedness.
Man, I love Jon, the guy who can call someone out without them realizing it and make them laugh at the same time...
Saagar after complaining about media divisiveness: “He’s too much of a Boomer” : (
Saagar is pandering to their target demographic.
This boomer doesn't go near legacy media.
Or he knows the demographics of who watches his show…. Nah that’s couldn’t be it
Relax guys it was just a bad joke. Don’t overthink it.
@@jonnovak6856 are you here to make the point that you didn't get what Jon Stewart was saying or are you here to refute it?
Jon Stewart looked like he was thinking before speaking. He will be lucky to survive in the modern media.
Why do their seats look so uncomfortable
Not even being hated by everyone changes the MSM behavior. Remember that when they start begging for viewers.
They are not hated by everyone. Breaking Points loves them. They use them as a factual source all the time. They also attack them when it suits their purposes.
Sad but true...
Regina George.
Hate is the goal. MSNBC viewers imagine themselves "against Fox" and "against Russian." It's all fake. *Avoid Cable-TV.* Cable-TV is market *segmentation.* It's all divisive *SOFT HATE SPEECH* garbage. Divisions make fools *imagine themselves in fake clubs.* North/South? DNC/GOP? Urban/Rural? White/Colored? Atheist/Religious? American/Russian? *All fake clubs!* Erase Cable-TV.
They're owned by at&t who are currently lobbying against the reconciliation bill, of course they're not going to focus on reality. when's the last time they talked to the workers rather than listening to business owners cry that people don't want to work their shit jobs for shit pay?
"TOO MUCH OF A BOOMER TO WATCH YOU TUBE?????" I tuned in to your channel only because Joe Rogan recommended your channel but check in only occasionally to see if you "journalists" provide the ALL the facts, less opinions during your presentations. Was on the proverbial fence whether I would eventually subscribe but today's comment from Saagar was a deal breaker. You just insulted me and other "baby boomers" who had the misfortune to hear your flippant comment.
@@jonnovak6856 um, where do you think this thing called "tech" came from, grasshopper?
"Stewart is too much of a Boomer to watch UA-cam"? I am 70 and I love you and Krystal!
I am a boomer and I always watch you channel. You both Rock!💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Everybody slobbering over Jon Stewart saying common sense shit.
That's how bad our culture has become. When you are suffocating, clean air tastes so sweet.
It wholly depends on who's saying the common sense stuff. If someone is right wing, or conservative says this sort of stuff, it's dismissed, or a whole slew of names and criticisms get barked at him or her. But all of the sudden Jon Stewart, a liberal, starts saying it and everyone acts as if it's a breath of fresh air or something when most conservatives and libertarians have known it to be true all along.
@@SamuelDiaz21 Yeah but he was able to make his common sense point without resorting to propagandizing for partisan purposes. Something most conservatives/libertarians, and liberals for that matter, are incapable of doing.
@@jonnovak6856 there's a balance between having everything state control over the economy and having corporations and banks have control over the economy.
The idea would be to spread property ownership as wide as you can. There's no reason for every American family to not own at least 3 acres of land for them to do whatever they want to do with it.
But your little socialist dream wouldn't do that. The state would own everything
@@princejellyfish3945 I would bet money Jon Stewart is pro CRT, he's a total partisan hack himself.
I'm not sure if he's realized how crazy and tribal and Authoritarian the democratic party has become and how much of that was due to him and his show
They saw Stewart free from a contract, and they thought we could bait him in to our side.
Rush Limbaugh talked about this 20 years ago. Politics as a sport vs deliberating merit.
Idk if this would most accurately titled “calling out CNN TO ITS FACE!” I love your show but the dramatic stuff like that is what I’m trying to get away from at CNN, Fox, etc.
