I do love this livery than the old one. It makes Cathay Pacific to be simple and elegant. In my opinion this livery is very beautiful on A350.

I personally love the new livery! It's sleek and ultra modern. Looks a thousand times better than China Eastern and other similar liveries.

looks like they got an old plane and just repainted the tail and forgot everything else. They should have left the fuselage white, then greenish-grey on the bottom just doesn't match the design.

A modern design which gives a mint impression, I like it. I like Cathay as always.

Definitely prefer the older livery on the 777s. It just looks so handsome on the 777s, from nose to tail. Although after 5 years, I must say this livery has grown on me. They probably realised how bad the old livery looked on the A350s and decided a new one needed to be in the works.

I do like this modern and minimalist livery. It is certainly the right direction to take given the contemporary aesthetics. However, the current livery is so classy, it is undoubtedly going to be a classic design in the history of commercial aviation. BTW, this entire video feels like one of those Jony Ive Apple videos.

this is a disappointing livery for us CX fans and loyalists, and now with the talks of 10 abreast in economy on the 77W, the company is going to loose many loyal customers if it goes down this steep slope. CX was always my first choice to fly if I could, but that position won't last long if this is the new direction the company is going, don't compete with low level north american airlines, it's pathetic, compete with SQ and offer your customers a good experience

+Yoel Febrian CX have considered adding 10 abreast to their 77Ws, but with a twist. Because of the added revenue, they say that if they make the change that they will afford to have better meals on planes (which has declined already), add in-flight Wifi, a snack bar, and other things that round out a great flight. Since the amount of space lost is only about an inch or so for each person, Cathay thinks that these new add-ons will help compromise for that. Being a skinny person myself, I wouldn't really mind 10 abreast in coach.

+Mikael Can, the meal quality might have dropped, but it's still miles better than what North American airlines offer, as for the other add-ons such as snack bar or wifi, I highly doubt that it will be completely free, but as said in the same article, CX is also considering dropping the prices to be more competitive. However, that in itself is missing the point, the reason ppl choose CX is for their inflight experience. I can say that on a 10+ hrs flight, I would do anything I can to not be on a 10 abrest 77W, it's so narrow, and I'm pretty thin, 5hrs on AC's 77W was even a pain. Also the current CX is 18.5 inch width, 10 abreast 77W is 17 inch seat width, just consider that 9 abreast 787s is 17.3 inch and that's really tight already
+TheAudiR8Fan I hope they'll only go for the 10 abreast on the 779s, where they'll at least be able to provide 18 inch seat width since the 779 has a larger cabin width. I'm literally 13 inches from hip to hip, so it wouldn't really matter for me :D. Lower prices would definitely be a good thing, since many people do consider pricing as #1 on their list when they book flights. #2 comes comfort or airline reputation, and better meals, snack bar, wifi, and other things would definitely help counter a 17inch seat. I definitely do see your point though, especially since not everyone is 13 inches wide.

Dear Cathay and the design team. Please carry on. This is great design!!! Ignore bad comments. They will still fly with you, as your service quality will still be on top. I feel the new and positive vibe from this new livery!!! APPRECIATE THIS BIG TIME. Super thoughtful design!

Well,I always like Cathay livery,because of those line,those colors,because you were one of the last airlines without a white plane and juste a name. This livery is white,impersonal,like Alitalia,like Iberia,like so many others...So sad...

Well, i like this new livery. Just looking on pictures from the old one and i must say that this new livery is definitely an improvement. It has still the old charm and is not too modern, it's like they say in the video- timeless.
The front tail is too small and the title is too big, so unbalanced. They could have been more bold and paint a bigger front tail, perhaps one that is so big it sweeps across the entire height of the fuselage. This livery is boring and plain. I wonder how much money they spent on this. I could have done it better for free.

I'm sorry, but this new livery just loses the classiness of the current one. Why go the SQ way and blow up the titles? First is the degraded service, no blankets, no overnight amenity kit, paper box meals, now is the ugly plane. Are you transforming into a LCC but charging premium price?

Nothing wrong with the previous livery, maybe just an update of the titles would have worked. The fuselage looks incomplete. The band should be the same shade of green as the tail and the engines should be white with the green brushwing logo. Please revise this, Cathay.

Well it is completly a joke. my cousin would.have done it better with his dollar store bought highlight pen! Btw, how would it represent asia or hk? a place without art or culture? or even a place full with joke? well fail PR cathay and you destroyed your own brand culture and value with this. Great work cathay, you are no more an airline that i am familiar with.
What was the rationale behind this? You went from having a classic, colorful livery to a white bland nothing. If this represents your brand as a whole, than I have little confidence in you having a good product I want to use.

It makes me nauseous to think that some grossly overpaid graphic designers seriously sat at someone's round table, laid out sheet after sheet of diagrams + blueprints, at some point used a multi-million dollar computer system with programming, spent thousands of hours of man hours, to eventually come out with this staid, boring, flat, minimalist, dated, sorry excuse for a "livery," that one could possibly come up with! Something I could have done so much better at for .00002% of the cost, by just spending an hour or two in Photoshop CS6 Extended. WTF?? This livery looks so unfinished like a wet lease aircraft. That tail needs some red in it and there needs to be a green cheatline or something to accent that boring white/grey fuselage. So disappointed!
Very corporate ......very safe.......I bet they paid a bucket load of money for multiple wanky day long marketing workshops when the CEO could have just asked is 7 year old daughter to come up with that for free..............but it does look good.

A massive let down, it's so bland it is almost eurowhite. the positioning of the components of the livery doesn't cohere and agree with eachother like the previous livery. releasing the green to cover all of the vertical tail is like saying you accept the component of the airplane that was originally designed around utilitarian philisophies as an aesthetic element, an extreme version of which is the Danish Air Transport livery. it has lost the majestic elegance of the previous livery. so far the only improvement over the previous livery is levelling the case of the letters and simplifying the brushwing, but putting the font away from the cheatline just makes things look random and unorganised. but it could have been worse...given the China Eastern case...
I guess it's nostalgia. I liked the old AA livery better, and I like the previous Cathay livery better. Change can be for better or for worse. This one was for worse.

I like the old logo with red stripe at the bottom giving good accent to the design. Cathay design team should seriously understand that GREEN IS A SYMBOLIC COLOUR OF ISLAM. Therefore too much use of green colour can be upsetting, if not offending to some passengers, or a public who loath cultural sign of Islam. Look at Pakistan Air, it's ALL GREEN, just as their national flag is all green. On the contrary, Dragon Air have had 100% facelift after they're renamed : CATHAY DRAGON. That familiar symbol with red background is now far more better, smart and eye-catching than it's parent-airline well suggesting the cultural connection with HONG KONG, and Chinese heritage.
Changing a major airline livery is a very rare occasion and a wonderful opportunity to create something special. It doesn't matter what corporate 'rationale' you spin on it, Cathay's new livery is boring and soulless, plain and simple. Such a lost opportunity. I was genuinely hoping for a lot more.
You seriously paid designers for that??? A good airline like Cathay deserves a decent, stylish, timeless livery and not something as unimaginative as this. What were the people thinking who gave their ok? I am deeply disappointed!

Was looking forward when i heard the new about a new livery! A bit disappointed with this, dont see much of a change to be honest but i still enjoy all the Cathay products, except food. 10 abreast economy is now not looking that certain, which i am happy for. Does anyone know which routes A350 will likely be flying?

Hmm! I dont mind the New Livery It's quite a leap of Faith & bold an Does definitely set it Apart from the Rest which is the (Point) & its around about this time in every few years That All Airlines start Changing there Liveries for better or for Worse and Mind you some (Recent new Liveries) that have popped up from other Airlines are Overly Fandangle & Colorful to the Point it hurts the eye's. Cathay Pacific's is thankfully Uncomplicatedly Different- The new livery unlike the Old one No longer gives one a Headache. It's a mature move to an all Soothing Shinny white backdrop with it's simple (larger text) Name in the original Green is clearer to see from a considerable distance now. I have no qualms about the all new improved white Flick on a full classic Green backdrop Tail logo, Its better that its larger & Easily seen an uses the Avaliable space to the fullest unlike the old logo that used a smaller portion of the Tail, Although I wish they had still retained there classic Red/ Silver/ Green Stripes and Instead decide to band them Uniformly Around the all White Engine Cowlings..or even a display of the classic stripes on the fore Wings before the wing tips. Not Manny Airlines if Any are bold enough to have (Wing Art) or
(Cowling Art) on the Plane's like they did in yesty year..Still a bit of Cowling Art are used these days but not (Wing Art)..A couple of red-silver- Green stripes on the Wing's Really would of Set it Apart from the Crowd. but No Airline is Game enough now!!😆😆😆
I thought this was a joke video at first and the announcer was Jony Ive. Clearly they are being serious and think they can announce a new livery and brand like it's a phone. As soon as I heard the voice and blatant rip off of Jony Ive and Apple I switched off. Cannot stand this sort of over the top hipster marketing its so fake

It's ok. A little boring and colorless. Instead of the grey band, a green band would be nice. Hard to distinguish the grey band from the eurowhite.
This livery represents bad omen in Feng Shui. The green wing at the front if the aircraft symbolises the tattoo for criminality. The dark teal colour is a kind of poisonous brew or bad health colour (think about the colour of the discharges when one is sick) compared its " jade " kind of green colour. Jade is auspicious whereas poison isn't. This explains why since 2018 when the new livery was introduced, CX has experienced the social unrest of HK (which attracted legal offences due to its staff's subversive comments on China ) , then COVID ( colour of poison or sickness). The CX wing in the tail in the new livery is completely within the frame instead of touching both the bottom (the red line, which represent China ) and the white top (represent the rest of the world) in the old livery. This mean CX is losing its function as the hub between mainland China and the rest of the world, but becomes an isolated airlines which is what is happening to Hong Kong now.

A clumsy explanation on a dull, crappy and unbalanced design of a so -called 'new' livery. But it truly reflects your company image... Cost cutting and downgrading inflight product quality. A good approach to switch to LCC! Go ahead CX!
Normally I just leave a video alone if I wind up facepalming, but I couldn't hold it in. All I see is a nearly direct copy of the airlines I see every day, and have seen since I was a baby. Lufthansa, Delta, United...even FedEx all have a white fuselage with a painted rudder and a logo slapped on that. If you want it to be seen, then make it different, instead, I'd just see another white plane and think "Fantastic...who's plane is that?" There's a reason why the US Airways blue livery is instantly recognizable around other planes, if only more airlines would figure out why that is...
Cathay Pacific is everyting is good, but please make long sign at the bottom of the plane!!!! Like Emirates, Qatar, and others, because your new livery seems not to be finished. Thanks ... and Every day I'm looking as your planes flying above my head with a tripod telescope, it's to much beautiful and certanly not enought long sign at the bottom as new world trend at airlines liveries/
Now Asia has one more bland livery aside from China Eastern and JAL's designs (neither of which I hate though). It's not a bad livery though. They could have made things worse and went in the direction that AA and Iberia took by adding something complicated or abstracting their logo needlessly. I would have painted the engines using the same dark green, or maybe reintroduce some red in there. It just looks like any ol' livery now; painted tail, white fuselage. The blue streak across the fuselage is barely distinguishable from a long-distance, and maybe a red stripe underneath it would've been good to distinguish it and maybe bring out the frosty blue.
They think changing a logo can change the quality of products and service which they cut since few years ago. Not only they raised the fares many times by each time 3-5%, the more the fare our business travelers paid, the less return of customer satisfaction. All we need is on-time departure and arrival, but it seems they are running lack of aircraft and thats why it is always delay , delay and delay... All I found the most ridiculous was they claimed typhoon in Hong Kong last month caused the delay when I was in Taipei, but you know what, we are not stupid, why CI and other competitors like Eva they are not delayed to HKG , only typhoon stopped the take off/landing of CX flights only ? come on.
After some times people will realize the new livery is much much better than the old one.

Dull and boring. There was nothing wrong with the old livery, that was timeless and carried the design quite well. But this new one is just too unremarkable. I am not reflexively against a new design, but it should look better than the old one. Why go to all that trouble if the end product is no better? Singapore Airlines, despite very minor alterations, have maintained their design more or less the same for over 30 years, no one accuses their logo of getting old. Why can't CX do the same?
CX! You've been conned by your design consultants! There's nothing contemporary or Asian about this new livery. It looks unfinished and grey. Please see Eva Air's new livery to find out how much nicer yours could have been.
Looks like air Canada's old livery. Pain green colour on background then a red maple leaf. But Cathay had a brush sign instead. Sigh... Even air Canada changed their livery to a better one. Cathay Pacific....what a shame
Why dont they spent money to actually improve their crap service instead just to design a new livery. It just like McLaren drop Mercedes engine for Honda engine. But McLaren get money for doing that where Cathay doesn't .
People need be warned Cathay Pacific will just tell lies. All to easy to make a big profit when you tell the customer one thing and then just go back on it some months later. They cost me 5 London Hong Kong returns. I even went to the head office and all the did was laugh. All in all a very bad experience they have had no interest in sorting any thing out as they have my money
The more emphasis is placed on something dull and unimagianitive, the more description is needed to present it as though a lot of thought went into it. Its a shame, somehow it lacks a defining accent, now its a livery like any other airliner. Bring back the colours of the 70's and 80's, not this dull sea of white and grey. Still remains my favourite airliner though.

Did you keep the receipt for the design work? Hope it didn't cost too much! Or maybe the Cathay board were too scared to push the design. The American Airlines livery might look simple, but it's dynamic and eye catching and has reinvigorated the airline. This livery looks like an interim idea.
Why the blue strip? It's pointless, ugly and ads nothing, leave it on the old scheme and finish the job!

Please Please do not change your service. We have been flying with you for years. I would hate to have to shop around again.. I go for service and comfort first and then pricing. I want to be comfortable for 17hr flights.
People hated Apple for removing the rainbow colors from their logo. And about a week later they'd all forgotten about it.
Well done Cathay, you didn't fall for it. This wing logo will live for a long time.
