Hope Has Come | 12/01/24 | Message
Zechariah and Elizabeth had longed for a child. There life was fulfilled in many ways-but this was still a gaping hole for them. But God acted, God restored hope. Everything perfect, right? No. Hope can be messy. He is told to name him surprisingly. His son is not simply going to be a simple, normal Jewish boy-he will stir things up. Then Zechariah questions it. Then he couldn’t speak. Sometimes our prayers get answered differently than we expect. Sometimes God acts in very surprising ways. Hope has come, but we must always remember: My ways are not your ways, says the Lord. Our hope comes not from getting the results we expect, but from knowing God holds our future, and is still at work in our lives.
