In a reflective mood after losing my little camping dog Elsa to cancer. This is the first camp without her. Beautiful little dog that she was, I'll dedicate this one to her memory
Nothing needed to be said Sandy, I think we all understood.
You didn't need to talk. She was right there with you all the time. You can't see her anymore but she watched you from the edge of the light.
One of the finest videos you've made without a doubt, poignant, we probably all felt the sadness in this. I know I did.
Yes Si, thats the first camp out of the way without the little dog!
Dear Sandy, I'm sure Elsa is gratefull that she was your dog and could live her life with you.
She had a good and happy life for sure Roland. She died so peacefully too. A fortunate dog I would say.
Lovely video Sandy - a poignant reminder of what a huge part our 'four legged' friends play in our lives and our own emotional well-being. Never forgotten.
At the time a bushman mate of mine told me always carry 1” squares of old bicycle inner tube for assisting firelighting events in wet weather got me out of lot of scrapes fading light etc. good quality post and a relief no speak. Lots of artistic license when needed Bravo ( loved the daybreak prep work super) 👍
I watched the whole video, and had a feeling that this was made with Elsa in mind- then I read the description!
Lovely video, Sandy
Elsa very much would have been with me had she still been here. She was a fun little dog
Elsa will not be forgotten Sandy. Take care.........Les
cheers Les
Thank you Sandy. Such a nice virtual break from the crazy world. So sorry you lost the dog, I know how much she meant to you mate. Be well.
We’ll all miss Elsa. She was a lovely little dog and clearly an excellent camping companion.
At least you may reflect on all the wonderful trips you had together. I’m quite sure she enjoyed them every bit as much as you did.
Man has never had a better friend, than our dogs.
Just lovley sandy. Watching this hugely calms down my anxiety. Hope all is well
Hi Chris, It was good to get out into nature even though my old dog is no longer around. Glad this helped you with your anxiety
Sandy
Great Video...you are my favorit UA-camr...with or without words...and a big Inspiration for outdoor-aktivities to me.
Hope you are ok.
Greetings from Germany

Bc Bouley,,, my thoughts to
Probably the most thought provoking bushcraft video you have made, Mate. Thank you very much for posting and sharing your memories with us.
Beautifully shot Sandy.
I am very sad for your loss as my old boy is in his twilight years and I am going to miss him so much. Take care and thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of work.
Sorry to hear about Elsa, its devastating to lose your closest friend, they don't judge you and take every step next to you with their heads high. This video is perfect in her memory, peaceful and shows the beauty that is Wiltshire (I am a Merseyside man). I settled in Trowbridge after I left the Army, Wiltshire is one of the UK's little treasures.
A great memorial Sandy. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I always love the sound of rain on canvass when your warm and dry is peaceful
Wonderful peaceful video Sandy, thank you. I believe Elsa was right by your side in spirit, she's not gone far!
Brilliant video Sandy! It's good to be quiet and listen to the beautiful sounds of nature. Although water straight from a spring can be edible, it's best to boil it just to be on the safe side. There are people who love the sound of rain hitting the tent, but there are also people who hate it. Thanks for sharing, take care, Jordan.
Heart goes out to you mate. Dogs are our soul mates. Always take mine out with me. Would be lost without him.
Your companion was an important part of your passion. Good to see out and about. Loss sucks.
No words spoken . No need pictures tell their own story.
There are animals who have to endure terrible lives. Elsa was loved and continues to be loved. I don't believe in life after death except to the extent that while you are alive and remember those who have gone before you... they stll live. Love this vid Sandy
So sad, sorry Sandy. We lost our little Eddie 6 months ago. Sending love and prayers. Video is a lovely tribute.
Just a perfect video in every way. I've lost two German Sheperd dogs to cancer back in the 90's. I have got such fond memories of them both. You made an excellent dedication to your best friend.
Truly sorry about Elsa.
Mike
The cloud sequence was incredible! This is relief for Covid madness.
Elsa was one of a kind and she is still with you bud. Lovely calming video. Stay safe
The peace and quiet, the sound of the rain on the shelter, the wind in the branches and the sound of those birds singing is really grounding buddy. The skies have been pretty awesome lately haven't they. Great video mate
Hello sandy, what a lovely heart warming video that was. The sound of nature is just priceless. And I agree it calms my anxiety too. I hope you are keeping well dear friend.
Sorry for your loss, An amazing vid, you certainly captured the tranquility of the countryside and the music added to that peacefulness. A perfect tribute to Elsa.
A pleasant gentle video. You know as I know your dog will always be with you. For those that not know you well be walking along a path you walked together and you will see your dog, you stroke another dog and your dog will be there. Stay safe, keep well.
Thanks Steve
Great video Sandy .. nothing worse than missing your best camping friend
Melancholily different, interesting, calming and enthralling.....I love it, absolutely fantastic.,
Very moving, Elsa would have been with you in spirit. Stay safe Sandy. Simon
Thinking of you and family Sandy, best regards Tom & Julie..
Wonderfully done! The storm clouds gather was a particular favourite, all the best Sandy
Cracking video that, I thoroughly enjoyed it, better than most of the programs on the TV. The music the time-lapse, spot on thanks for sharing.
A beautiful tribute and a fitting way to remember your companion.
You continue to lift the bar Sandy, superb video emotional tribute, excellent.
I am so sorry to hear about Elsa, but take comfort in knowing that she had a wonderful life with you and your family Sandy. She will always be there with you at home and at camp.
Just so tranquil, beautiful and inspiring you captured the mood so well thanks for sharing with us.
I’m a 61 yo granny in Tennessee, USA, and I watch and LOVE all your videos. You are very creative. Have you ever thought about marketing some of your inventions? Those chair and table supports are ingenious, and I know lots of people who would jump at the chance to purchase some! Thank you for all you do. ~Cathy
Lovely video Sandy. We'll all miss little Elsa.
Great video Sandy. It was good to see you back out camping and enjoying the sounds of summer. Miss seeing Elsa with you but I know she will be there in spirit.
One of your best videos, Sandy. I particularly liked the time lapse clouds.
Thanks Sandy really enjoyed that. We all understand too. Loveley!
Lovely vid. So sorry about Your Elsa. Nice to see a chair and table and bit of civilised camping. Stella and Salmon - the lunch of champions
Beautiful Sandy. I think someone would have to have a heart of stone not to get the feeling here, but you had a good night out in nature. Her soul was there with you, I’m sure.
Thanks for sharing with us mate. ATB, Mark 👍
Lovely Video Sandy and all those nice memories of Elsa she is really missed by us all, take care ATB...
I did fall asleep but that may have been the whisky 😀 watched it all again to catch up. Loved the cloud sequence. Great video!
It was putting me to sleep because it was so relaxing to watch. 😊
I just returned from a camping trip in the mountains myself and I definitely appreciate coming back to a wonderful video such as this is. Elsa was a very special friend and you honored her friendship, companionship, and loyalty with this little tribute to that wonderful creature. We will all miss her. Another great video my friend and I certainly hope that you were able to enjoy yourself even though you had a heavy heart. Thanks for sharing it with us and I will see you on the next one.
Thanks for another great video. Good to watch before turning in for the evening.
I think she would be happy to see you out there. God Bless

1 word.BRILIANT ,
Thanks for posting Sandy.
Thank you for sharing and i am so sorry you have lost your little companion. Best Wishes from Chester.
Awww Sandy ... Ive just rewatched this (24th oct '23) and can relate to Elsa being your camp dog,.... My wee 11 year old Jack Russell has cancer and he's my pal... KTF🙏
Hi Marty,
Little Elsa was a great camping companion and when she died aged 14 and a half it really cut me to the quick, but the weight of this loss is opposite and proportionate to the amount of love she gave through all those years.
She was with me for all of her life and some of mine and I guess it'll be the same for you when the time comes. Sadly it will and we have to accept that. I wish they had longer lives.
I was 4 months without a dog and the house felt empty until we got Carmen the Spanish rescue dog. She was shy and very nervous and it took a further 4 months for her to settle in but now we have an inseparable bond as I do with the other dog also a Spanish rescue called Zeta.
Not sure on their past history as they came to us fully grown aged around 2, Carmen is nervous around strangers but becoming very assertive at home (A good guard dog) Zeta has never become fully house trained, I can take her for a long walk of an hour or two and she is highly likely to use the conservatory as a toilet on our return!
We love them both very much despite their funny ways :)
It's true what they say about time being a great healer!
Sandy
@@WiltshireManYour two dogs are beauties pal🖤🖤 Thanks for the kind words and I hope you heal quickly 👌
I enjoyable to watching the nature go by in your video. Its good to see you out again... Thank you👍
Didn't need to talk.
Lovely vlog, and captured lovely.
Was nice to share this with you, thanks for taking us along 😀
Your welcome:)
Hi Sandy, what a great place to camp. Plenty of wood for the Firebox and a spring nearby. Must have been
emotional without Elsa, it's nice to reflect on life now and then. Thanks for another great video hope you managed to stay dry and comfortable. What a good idea your seat base is. Stay safe H.
Loved it! Artfulness in every aspect! A true craftsman, always striving for excellence. Much respect 🙏
Steve,
Thanks. Peace and solitude and a firebox stove is all one needs. I believe there's a package on the way for me. I'll let you know when it turns up. Sent you an email
Sandy
Too many words would have been superfluous Sandy. Elsa never said very much either, but your faithful little friend was always there and you knew what she was thinking.
Yes Noel I knew exactly what she was thinking.............FOOD:) Most of the time
Very relaxing video sir. I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are just little people with fur coats, And I'm sure she had a very happy life with you. Peace.
Excellent video. Beautiful camp.
Nothing beats a night in the woods to clear your thoughts . Must of been hard not having Elsa with you on your camp out.. I'm sure she was with you in spirit.
Good to see you back out there Sandy.......life goes on eh.....
Very lovely video and a real pleasure to watch🏕
Love watching your camping adventures or knife making videos... Somehow this felt like your little buddy was there next to you!;)
Aaahhhh that was one for the soul, felt it all, will replay this one again, thank you. Cheers from New Zealand ☺
Thanks Carol, Yes I miss my old dog
@@WiltshireMan 😚
Thank you, Sandy. BTW, I have started carrying a couple of bits of blue heavy duty paper towel impregnated with peanut oil in a small zip lock bag for my Firebox stoves. Give it a quick wipe down before and after using the stove and it won't rust. Over time it builds up a nice patina. They really are the best stoves.
good tip
Good camping chair hack for the feet 👍
Nice peaceful video thanks
Glorious...just glorious
Beautifully done as ever Sandy: poignant, immersive and capturing the richness of English midsummer. I could smell those nettles all the way from here in NZ. Double thumbs up mate!
Nice little camp. I miss the cool weather.
Thank you Sandy. 🌳🌦
Lovely video. No words needed.
Great to see you back out camping Sandy. A nice ease back in to the wild camping lifestyle. Nice grub and that bungalow is just great. Cheers mate, Ant 👍
Thanks Ant
