Corporal.....just a question. I have camped out since I was a kid with my parents using the old weather repellent tarp material. Much older now and use the lightweight materials too. Like how your tent sets up for the best heat from fire. Thinking about one like that or the sling style sleeping hammock bag. Ok question.....r the new lightweight materials non flammable resisting sparks from campfire??? I know it may sound like a stupid question but I'm not a novice camper like u. My old tent I bought many years ago has a few burn holes on top and flap from being pitched too close to the campfire when cold and catching some sparks that fly up. It never caught fire u understand just burned holes. If that makes sense. Tried using super glue to mend with. I'm sure there's a better way. Love your open and honest videos. I'm a fan of yours. Keep the camping videos coming lol!! Btw I'm about to end the sleeping on the ground and go glamping myself lol!!!! I just love being outdoors and the peace it brings. Love how good the food tastes even if just a hotdog and the smell of bacon and coffee on the fire. Omg......I'm wanting to head to the mountains now lol. Merry Christmas from Tennessee!!!

Your videos never get old. I just turned 70 and ground sleeping does not hold much appeal. My last truck camping weekend, I took a cot and put in my tent. That was a treat. This little tent does have an appeal to it. Your meals and popcorn looked great! Thank you as always! Your overnighters are always a welcome treat. Educational too. Thanks for what you do Shawn! Sorry to be overly familiar. You do a great job. Best wishes.
Hey pard....you are not old...and....The tent I have been using for 25 years is the North Face Talus...It is not the most roomy tent in the world, but I have slept in it in temps from -10F to +75F here in Wyoming through rain and 14" of snow and it has never failed me...Another thing that you might want to consider is Starbrite waterproofing. You know, what could be more fun than popping up a bunch of corn while hanging out in a beautiful location with a "no fuss but got ya covered" tent? So what if you put too much in the pan? That whole video looked like solid fun, thanks for making it.
Used this tent a couple of week ago and it was great. I'm hitting 70 and if any part of me is not comfortable at night, I don't sleep. Only when my feet poked out from the bag and blanket and got cold was I not comfortable. Being 6'5" and 280lbs I must confess that I used a blanket, air mattress, pillow and a sleeping bag. But I still had room to keep a good portion of my gear inside the tent. With the flap up and the screen closed I slept great. It's a good thing that the tent is rip stop because I discovered a 2 1/2" tear in it when I got home. No problem though. I slap on a piece of Gorilla Tape and everything is good to go. By the way. This thing is so great my daughter bought one for when she goes on her outdoor trips. Usually hiking.
Looks like a good setup overall. Here in interior Alaska, that pad is a 2-2.5 season, but it still looks comfortable. As a safety precaution, we always keep a full extra set of winter gear, sleeping bag rated to -40F to -50F, blankets, fuel, food, and all the other survival necessities needed. You never know, the life you may be saving may not be your own.
Heck Yeah!!!!! Brilliant! My family has a special nostalgic fondness of popcorn. I can't wait to share this recipe with dad and brother next time were backpacking. We traditionally pack out frozen meat and pre-baked potatoes for the first nights dinner. Bacon popcorn around the campfire will blow their socks off!! Thanks for putting an awesome twist on a family favorite. BTY I really enjoy your videos. I always learn a bit more, even on those topics I think I know well. You've got great explanations and a heck of a great sense of humor! Thanks for the laughs. Be well and stay healthy.

After watching this video 4 times I am happy to say because of you I bought this tent and I love it so far aswell as your quick deployable ridge line I watch the video on how you made it makes my camping so much easier thanks for testing this stuff out for us 🙂
Did I really just spend 30 minutes of my day watching a man I don't know, pitch a tent, do a gear review and eat bacon? Yes, I did...and man did I enjoy it! Press - On - Brother, only in AMERICA!

I'm taking my grandson camping this weekend and he's going to freak- right - out. that was just awesome I have never thought about that oh, thank you thank you thank you for that idea. Have a great day and stay safe! TQ out
It's nice to see that you are using a tent that many of us might have instead of creating something from natural materials (I do appreciate those natural made shelters but, I can't build one [health reasons]). Your videos and expertise is much admired and appreciated.
Sorry to disappoint you Corporal, Sir, but… Bacon and Eggs is a) healthy (when eaten as part of a keto diet, and b) English 😏 OMG though… popcorn, popped in bacon fat? Definitely American. With hot sauce? Military. I’ve gotta try that popcorn minus the hot sauce but with a drizzle of maple syrup (insert drool emoji). Always a pleasure watching one of your vids 👊🏼
I know this video is almost a year old, but, I was looking at purchasing this tent. I have watched a bunch of reviews, and all positive. Your video just put the bacon on the sandwich, so to speak!! LOL I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it. Glad I did, So far, loving this tent! Thanks for another great review and video Corporal Kelly!! Tanker Approved!
I enjoy watching your videos more than the other outdoor survival videos out there bc you actually explain what and why you do things certain ways and you show how. You actually talk to the viewer and your foods look so damn tasty.
I tried going hammock. It is comfy and outstanding. Problem is, my dog comes camping with me and she does not like the hammock. So ground camping it is. I actually got this exact tent a little before your video on it came out. I've had 3 years of experience with it now and must say that it is pretty danged good. It does have condensation issues if you need to batton down the hatches for rain, but it isn't too bad really. Plus tons of room for my dog, my gear, and I. Side note, on mine the top tie outs actually DO have grommets. Seems that some do and some don't. Looks like a running change they made.
My wife and I like to camp. So we use a tent. But to get out off the ground, we have a couple Army cots. It works great for us since we are almost 50. But I do enjoy the great content
Another tip...rinse your bacon with water, and it will not curl up as much. Don't remember where I heard that one from, but I've tried it and it works! Nice flat strips that cook evenly every time.
I enjoy your videos for the equipment information. At 70 years old I don't like to be uncomfortable but I still like to do an overnighter in reasonable comfort. Your equipment listings are very valuable to me as I am sure they are to others. God Bless, off to check your amazon page once again.
@@faithrada Absolutely, I'm still fairly old school. A down bag, with a wool blanket to cover it. I do use a thin inflatable like the one in this video. It keeps the ground irregularities from causing issues. No need to give up what we enjoy, health be damned, lol.

Been watching for a few months now, love the videos , really appreciate the ones that are more complete shelters - long term if necessary. While everything you do seems to go off without a hitch , was just wondering if maybe you might add a “ camp fire story” about something that went wrong or not as planned , and how you were able to rectify the situation. Thanks! Keep up the great adventures!!!
Fry the 🥓 in the pan. Mix 🥚 and milk and dip in crumpets and fry in the 🥓 fat. 🥓 with 🥚 crumpets serve with maple syrup or ketchup. Now that’s outstanding
Hey funny story. I was seeing my heart Dr and he asked if I was taking anything for cholesterol. Bacon 🥓 I replied to his blank look. His nurse got a good laugh!
I watched another video where you made bacon grease popcorn, I tried it and it was out of this world. Another inventive and wonderful video. I'm going to have to find out where you're doing another overnight and stealth camp just out of sight like Steve. When I smell the bacon I'll just show up.😂🤣
Dang. Through my whole childhood, I camped in an old-fashioned orange pup tent. Same shape at this one, a little smaller, but old-style - with a door on one end and a small mesh window on the other. Hard to get into or out of without making a mess, no covered space for gear or muddy shoes, and no way to sit under cover and enjoy the camp fire. This is the next evolution in tenting. A few simple changes to the old design, and it's now ten times better for one or two person camping. THe only improvement I could think of would be making it double-sided to allow two people to leave boots outside and allow for easy cross-ventilation in hot weather. Maybe adding mesh windows (with covers) to the ends to allow for head-to-foot air flow while the main flaps are closed. If I were still tent camping like I did as a kid, I'd definitely buy this tent.
I have the same tent. I added hook and loop along the inside edges and attached a clear shower curtain cut to size, add with mylar on the back wall of the tent. Quick simple hybrid super shelter.
Great video and loved the popcorn in bacon grease idea. I'm getting the idea that you love bacon :)) Who doesn't? My wife and I like bacon in toasted flour tortilla wraps. Hers are plain but I add lettuce or baby spinach, tomatoes sliced, jalapeno slices and cucumber sliced.
Corporal you said something to us a few months back about your goals and being happy. I hope 2019 has moved you in the right direction, and 2020 will complete the trip.
This time I went to the kitchen and got something to eat just as your video was beginning, looks like you're going to have a wonderful dinner,The tent looks amazing !!
I love the ingenuity and creative expression involved in creating natural and bushcraft shelters, but tents sure can be faster and comfortable. I would love to pull into a campground and see everyone in manmade bushcraft shelters lmfao that would be epic. That's a good video idea Corporal, go to a campsite and just start unloading the truck and building a Red Dead Redemption trapper hut while people watch in amazement, then proceed to cook a feast of bacon and just clean it all up in the morning like you were never there.
I like that you let us get to really experience what you're doing in your videos rather than just always fast-forwarding through everything like some channels.
Wow thank you for your videos because it made me a better survival I made it through the worst is history in Texas weather ever The calendar your videos I thank you for making me a better survivor
Love popcorn and especially in the wilderness. Smell signature must drift into woods and attract movie goers and popcorn police. I remember in the 1960's that our family camping trips to Deep Creek Park in western MD included popcorn. It attracted other campers and soon you see other campers coming from stores to enjoy their own popcorn late at night under a camp fire. Those were the days. Great video. BTW, remember as a teen, we would hide popcorn in other camper fire pits. At night, when campers lit their fires, we start laughing.
Yur gonna need a bigger pot! The way it kept popping another kernel while you were eating it and pushing pieces out onto the ground, for some reason it made me think of 'The Trouble with Tribbles'
That tent looks a lot like an improved version of a British Army tent that was issued to a mortar section as a control post in days of yore. It housed two men, two radio sets and a plotter board and was quite adequate for that. One thing though... Your kip mat is primarily for insulation and you would be better off with a self inflating one. It only needs to be about 12mm thick. If you inflate it using your breath then the moisture in your breath can freeze inside it overnight. I think mine was Canadian, but cannot remember the make 😢. With the air squeezed out it was very light and folded up very small. It was one the most useful bits of kit that I ever had. Good luck with that tent!
Been looking at the backwoods bungalow, I really like the idea of it, your recommendation sells it bud, also the grommets vs loops, just add a gromet mod too it.....good to go!
Looks like a great setup for motorcycle camping to , just as easy to setup as a Tarptent Contrail with out a pole , just one Line up and good to go The Tarptent is just a bit smaller and ligther
I liked the tent, also the bacon and eggs, popcorn not so much I'm a low carber myself. Next time when you are at home keep all the bacon drippings and when you have around one cup, try to make homemade mayo with it, you'll thank me later, because, in your own words, it's outstanding! Try it! Oh, and by the way, eggs and bacon are healthy, don't believe anyone that tells you they are not, and I can prove it to you!
Love the popcorn incident! My Uncle Petie who served in the army during Korea used to make popcorn that we grew on the farm almost every night. He did it with a pot on the stove with oil. We also had lots of bacon with eggs fried in that grease and occasionally he would make us sos.

I watched another video where you made bacon grease popcorn, I tried it and it was out of this world. Another inventive and wonderful video. I'm going to have to find out where you're doing another overnight and stealth camp just out of sight like Steve. When I smell the bacon I'll just show up.😂🤣
Hunker Down!
Why did I never think to make bacon-flavored popcorn?
Bacon flavored popcorn with maple syrup drizzled over it! Then add bacon bits!
"Popcorn" That will give m an idea for my next camping
I'm going to try that.
And I thought I was the only one that puts Tabasco on my popcorn!
We may be brothers!!!!!
Tabasco goes on Everything brother, even mashed potatoes. lol
E M I put it in everything!
Love this guy .... Binge watching his videos.
Dont we all
#MeToo
Dehydrated cheese powder is also good on popcorn. Haven’t tried Tabasco, but I’ll try it’s cousin, Texas Pete and see how it goes.
Your videos just keep getting better and better. Thanks partner...
God Bless
I like that you let us get to really experience what you're doing in your videos rather than just always fast-forwarding through everything like some channels.
I dropped some bacon on the floor and it made the floor that much better!
If eating bacon is wrong, I don't want to beeee right! Haha great popcorn bacon style. Go Corporal!
Man after my own heart! Nothing better than eggs fried in bacon grease for breakfast!!!
Wow thank you for your videos because it made me a better survival I made it through the worst is history in Texas weather ever The calendar your videos I thank you for making me a better survivor
Surfing through my recommended to find more and more corporal corners!! Great content as usual! Thank you!
Add in that hot cup of coffee and you will complete the smell of
"Morning in Murica"
😃
Merry Christmas Corporal K!
"So check it out...next time I come out here, I'll bring something healthy. Not."
You're my hero man.
Being out in nature is good for the body and soul.
The absolute best outdoor UA-cam channel ever 💯
Yur gonna need a bigger pot! The way it kept popping another kernel while you were eating it and pushing pieces out onto the ground, for some reason it made me think of 'The Trouble with Tribbles'
The food draws me in. Nothing like camp eats! Oh yeah the rest is good too!
A nice tent recommendation - bacon flavoured popcorn - an “A Team” quote... this video is officially high testosterone. Stellar outcome CC ⚔️👊⚔️
Campfire Bacon Popcorn what a neat and budget friendly idea! 2 thumbs up Corporal!
First bacon, grease popcorn sounds amazing, next lol the amount you put in..."uh oh." Im thinking about getting the tent, thanks for the review.
I got odd looks from the wife but I made the bacon popcorn and yes it was good AF. I added jalapeño cheddar spice to it an it just made it better.
Been looking at the backwoods bungalow, I really like the idea of it, your recommendation sells it bud, also the grommets vs loops, just add a gromet mod too it.....good to go!
Looks like a great setup for motorcycle camping to , just as easy to setup as a Tarptent Contrail with out a pole , just one Line up and good to go
The Tarptent is just a bit smaller and ligther
Thank you for your service! Learnin a lot from this channel! Take it one day at a time!
Bacon popcorn eh? Is that a thing now? I've popped popcorn in bacon fat for at least 40 years. Glad it's coming into it's own. Great Video.
Jorge Luis Garcia that’s genius! Thanks for that!
Corporal's Kernels, coming to a store near you.
Man you have great ideas! Never would have thought popcorn with bacon grease. Bravo, and well done sir!!
Love the popcorn incident! My Uncle Petie who served in the army during Korea used to make popcorn that we grew on the farm almost every night. He did it with a pot on the stove with oil. We also had lots of bacon with eggs fried in that grease and occasionally he would make us sos.
Nothing quite like Heart Attack On A Plate for a rousing, early morning breakfast before going to ICU in a few years!
He knows the secret of tabasco popcorn. He knows too much.
We had popcorn in bacon grease when I was growing up ( mid-60s )
The original idea for the DeLorean winged shelter in the woods. 👍👊 Outstanding Corporal!
#America "we're all gonna die someday... but not today."
I like the swept back support poles for the porch part. First time I've seen it and it is a great idea
My cardiologist: Bacon is not a meal.
Me: That's where you're wrong, kiddo.
that looks like a bad ass tent
I see bacon & eggs in the intro, I give a thumbs up. Easiest decision ever.
👍🏻😎 That's a sweet little tent. Thanks for the idea on the bacon popcorn. I'm gonna have to try that out.
Only next time you have to use a much bigger pot for that much popcorn I saw poured into a frying pan.
