You, your amp and my power brake sound killer. Thank you for creating the video.

Is this an attenuator or something different? I was going to build a trainwreck air break, but I came across this and am curious.
And thanks for all your glorious pages Rob !!

Christ... that was a brutal tone. Super chewy and crunchy!

Does this work well for super low volumes? I'd like to build one to use in an apartment. Thanks

This is just an amp load with a line out. There is not speaker output other than the ability to switch to a cabinet full volume. However running the line out into an interface and using an IR would work. I am a fan of the old THD hotplate for what you are after. Thanks for checking out the video!

i have the same amp as in your demo...do you have to set the amp output switch to 8 ohms for the RobRob Reactive Power Brake input?

I would hope that I remembered to switch it to 8, though now you got me wondering, and looking at the video I may have had in the 16 ohm setting?? Love this amp, have since recovered with new "cat scratching post" material LOL!! Thanks for checking the vid out.

@@maraudermusic2714 Thanks for the quick response! I use a 16 ohm speaker for the output and i know the R1/R2 combo would need to be reworked. i'm hoping the design could support the 16ohm setting from the amp without detrimental effects. Wonder if RobRob would know? Sent him an email...no response as of yet.
I keep my cats out of my man cave of equipment LOL.

@@b1mags1 I believe if you source from the place Rob suggest for resistors (www.mpja.com/) you can change up impedance. Read down on Robs page he talks about changing impedance (ohms) robrobinette.com/Generic_Tube_Amp_Mods.htm#RobRob_Reactive_Power_Brake

You can build your own, not too hard. Check out this link robrobinette.com/Generic_Tube_Amp_Mods.htm#RobRob_Reactive_Power_Brake

Does this need, like... some form of insulation ? And a heatsink or something like that? I wonder what could work as a chasis instead of the ammo can, it must have been hard to solder there lol

    • @maraudermusic2714

It does not get that hot really. The 30 cal ammo can was tight, a 50 cal would be better!

@@maraudermusic2714 I see. Is that a grid like on metal doors? This seems like a cool proyect actually. I wonder if there will be a difference between it and the line out of my amp, apart from the silence in real life i mean. Just to be sure, does the line out have to be a speaker cable or an instrument cable?
