He's right. It does look better than its competitors. Still does 3 years after its launch. I've been driving one for 2 years now and it's holding up really well. People still give it admiring looks, until they notice the badge.
I had a one and the only problem I found with is the suspension it's really stiff and especially on our roads, I'm from Iraq and our roads are very bad so I found it not comfortable at all but on high way it's very stable, I managed to 170Km/h and I don't find any problem at all. Thanks guys for this amazing review
i'vs had mine for about 2 months now and i love it...best car i've ever had i think and i've had a cavalier, a civic, a protege5 and an explorer sport.
Hello Mr. Doron, I totally agree with you. All of the line up of Kia and Hyundai are really good looking vehicles, the fit and finish may also be really good. The only problem is the manufacturer's badge. I think once you have a perception of a brand, it is very hard to change, like myself in my early 20's I loved Nissans, but once I bought my first BMW, I would not change brands for anything. My point is that Kia is aiming for new generations of drivers, those with no bad perceptions about Kia.
where's the radio/CD go when you add the nav function? or is it integrated? I drove one (rented) and wondered what would happen because the nav system they gave us was an add on and the radio was where I imagine the nav system would be.
I been driving my Kia Sportage for one year now, its a top car! I had Audi and WV before, its not worth the money. I payed 28,000.- Euro and its a good price for a 4 wheel car with 6 gear automatic! In fact it have 12 gears, smal 1, big 1 and so on!And 7 year warranty! Did i say that Bosch is behind the fuel system?
2011 Kia Sportage is a bit tight in the front seat, compared ot the Subaru Forester or Outback, and there is a HUGE blind spot due to the rear pillar and small back window. Very sporty an awesome color choices.
honestly its a great car but i have a couple of points , i went to the shop and sat in it for a while i noticed a couple of things 1 , the driving wheel is small , and its not as wide and roomy as it looks thats all
@if7ate9 The Maxda CX-7 has a turbo with the i-AWD system and it feels the most fun of all these types of SUV's to drive because of that. Once the turbo Sportage is out that could change but I actually enjoyed the Tucson's drive more even tho it's essentially the same car. The sportage had a more firm "look im sporty" ride but the tucson knows its a car-like crossover and even the seats felt more like recyliners. The Outlander is also slow ur right. continued...
To tell you the truth... i am not a big fan of the interior when me and my girlfriend went to test drive it. She decided to get the 2011 hyundai Tucson instead, the interior in the hyundai just felt like it was made with better materials.
@vicmackey1268 i've test driven the Sportage twice, Tucson once, almost bought a Forester and a Mazda CX-7, my mom has a CR-V, cousin has a RAV-4, work friend has the Escape and I drove a used one. I ended up buying a used SE Camry cuz I knew i'd get a lot of resale value out of it when I can afford the car I really want. I also think the SX4 is a great little hatch AWD, and if you wait till next year the Wrangler and Escape will be all new. The new Compass is my current favorite small SUV.
I thought this thing looked fantastic and looked bigger than I thought it would. Two things no one seems to mention tho, 1) The driving just felt meh, just no spirit in the accelleration, handling, etc....slow too...idk...I'm all about driving feel. If the car makes me smile while I'm whipping it around and pushing it than I know I'm going to be happy for a long time. 2) NO ONE seems to mention this but I thought the driver's seat was just too hard/firm.
Nothing wrong with way KIA is heading but they need to redesign their logo. They stepped up their game with the quality of their vehicles and a new badge would signify that.
@if7ate9 I think maybe since I thought the Sportage looked SO good from the outside that I would be as impressed with the drive...really my opinion is the interior is more important cuz you never really see the outside of your car. None of the cars in this segment were really terrific with how the inside impressed me except that the Tucson was gorgeous at night with it's bright blue gauges. Im driving the compass soon but i heard its miles ahead of the old one i rented and sucked.
I don't understand why! But your starting price in the US is $19,000! :O In Australia it starts about 10k more!!! :O :( and atm the Australian dollar is worth more then the US! :\
@Just4Laughss The fact that we live in America matters. It's called conspicuous consumption: the image that you are living well by three materialistic possessions. Expensive house, expensive car, expensive clothes - You must have a great life. Obviously, that isn't always true, but it's the American dream.
lol...he said "because of the c pillar design..u have really gud visibility"....i think he meant "you have really bad visibility"...thats a huge blind spot
@if7ate9 The Honda CR-V is decent but it's just dated styling now and is more middle-aged mom than anything resembling sport, the most dissapointing thing is its highway accelleration. Around town it's zippy but going from 40-70 to speed up and pass I feel myself saying come onnnn!!!!! (my mom has a cr-v). My cousin's 4cyl RAV-4 is the most impressive but the interior was my least favorite since the entire thing is like one big cheap plastic bowl. My favs: Tucson, Forester.
Buy Asian and you can't go wrong. . .European cars are WAY too expensive to repair. BMW -- "Bring My Wrenches" -- FIAT "Fix It Again Tony" -- ETC, ETC .
@MOUSEBOWEN Luckily US made cars are famed worldwide for their excellent use of premium plastic all throughout their interior and superb safety rating, not to mention those unmatched feul economics... :')
@wowdude2008 It doesn't matter what they did. I had been strictly an american car guy for years. Now I just don't care anymore. I will pretty much buy any car. I just recently purchased a Saturn. I used to say bad things about them all the time, but now, I just don't care. The cash for clunkers program from a few years back, has destroyed a lot of great cars, so it is harder to find a decent car now.
I want to like Kia's but like Ron mentioned I can't get past the badge! Kia, don't make your badge an oval, it just looks so horrible. Ford can get away with it but you need something more edgy and angular, anything but an oval, even just the letters and no oval.
All the Japanese car makers are afraid to offer a warranty like Kia and Hyundai. Why? Simple, it's because that is more money in their pockets and more out of the consumers. If they really were confident in their vehicles, they would give 10 year/ 100,000 mile warranty. All I can tell you is, don't hold your breath. I would rather own a Kia because they are better looking and better covered.
I looked at this, CR-V, RAV-4, Tucson, Rogue at the Auto Show, and this was BY-FAR the best out of ALL of them.. If only people would get over the Kia nameplate and by the BETTER more exciting CUV! RAV-4 and CR-v are so BORING and UGLY compared to this! I love it i want one so bad!
@skawodn Do you drive one? and welcome to 2011 where technology is at its greatest.... I went to autosalon, KIA has the most advanced technology you can find in a (basic)car
This guy is one of the worst car reviewers on UA-cam. I've watched 2 of his car reviews on 2 different cars (this Sportage and the Infiniti 37 coupe) and he makes the same mistakes. First, this 'review' sounds like a car ad. He doesn't say anything negative about the Sportage, its all skittles, rainbows and unicorns to him. Second, he spends too much time (1 minute 40 sec's out of 4 mins 40 sec's) discussing the context and overall market of the car instead of the car himself. He doesn't grasp the idea of a car review. Either that or he's getting paid by sponsors to sell cars or something.
his "dont fuck around" attitude made this the best review for this car on youtube
my dad bought a kia sportage in
'98, its still running perfectly and its going to be mine next year.
He's right. It does look better than its competitors. Still does 3 years after its launch. I've been driving one for 2 years now and it's holding up really well. People still give it admiring looks, until they notice the badge.
dude I love your reviews you explain everything that is important fast and right to the point!
Great vehicle btw!
Cheers!!
Hey man, your Reviews are great.Right to the point.Great Work
the reviews that he does usually suck....but this one has to be one if not his best review ever GREAT JOB!!
finally a kia crossover that is actually not UGLY unlike the previous models
I agree, this thing is beautiful. I'm a convert. I love where Hyundai and Kia are going!
you need to do a follow up demonstrating the uvo and also the other interior features.
i'vs had mine for about 2 months now and i love it...best car i've ever had i think and i've had a cavalier, a civic, a protege5 and an explorer sport.

Love love LOVEEE this kia.........here is to changing the perception of Kia forever :)
this guy is so big, he makes this car look so small LOL

2011 Kia Sportage is a bit tight in the front seat, compared ot the Subaru Forester or Outback, and there is a HUGE blind spot due to the rear pillar and small back window. Very sporty an awesome color choices.

I love my kia sportage

as you said the problem is with the bage
Been looking at these there good looking

I like this guy way of illustrating every thing, he make it so easy to see every thing in the and every feature this car own, WHAT IS HIS NAME BTW?
Nice review.
no rear seats?

Badge or no badge, this car makes a lot of sense.
im getting a sportage in 8 months thats a big waiting list
@if7ate9 I think maybe since I thought the Sportage looked SO good from the outside that I would be as impressed with the drive...really my opinion is the interior is more important cuz you never really see the outside of your car. this car looks amazinggggg
Kia needs to design a new logo, definitely! But in terms of design, good thing they snagged Audi's designer.
This guy is so right....can u overcome the perception of driving a KIA ???? KIA should consider changing the words to just a nameless logo.
I had the new sportage really coooool
I love this vehicle.
@vididi34 it looks EXACTLY like a traverse
@MusicMan0007 hahaha lol the Q5 is really great sporty SUV , plus its not feminine.
@vididi34 No, it looks like it applied to much lipstick...
LOL @ "This is not poor man's Toyota; this is poor man's Audi"
I don't understand why! But your starting price in the US is $19,000! :O In Australia it starts about 10k more!!! :O :( and atm the Australian dollar is worth more then the US! :\
Real sporty look!
Great info!

@remustintoi yea that explains a lot
lol...he said "because of the c pillar design..u have really gud visibility"....i think he meant "you have really bad visibility"...thats a huge blind spot

The new KIA's kick ass. Kia needs to change the logo to lose the stigma
Buy Asian and you can't go wrong. . .European cars are WAY too expensive to repair.
BMW -- "Bring My Wrenches" -- FIAT "Fix It Again Tony" -- ETC, ETC .
@mikerules666 And may i ask what did Toyota do to Americans last year?? And my friend KIA is not going any where lol.. I
@remustintoi because it is.
@MOUSEBOWEN Luckily US made cars are famed worldwide for their excellent use of premium plastic all throughout their interior and superb safety rating, not to mention those unmatched feul economics... :')
i have 1 i love it
The only thing I dislike about the 2011 Kia is the back of the car... It looks like a turtle!
0:08 I thought it said, AUTOBOOB
I have a new KIA and I just don't care about the bage! That's it.
@thecordova928 Yeah that had me scratching my head too
you still on steriods?
@wowdude2008 It doesn't matter what they did. I had been strictly an american car guy for years. Now I just don't care anymore. I will pretty much buy any car. I just recently purchased a Saturn. if u hid the badge and said it was a lexus u could charge ppl 75,000$ for it

I like this motor but, Let's fire up the Quattro!!!!

It's pronounced 'Sport-arge'

the problem is only the LOGO.look very bad.
