@gen. hos Don’t be so quick to judge. Not all people who do drugs are drug addicts, some just like Kendall, are just kids, trying new things, and hanging out with the wrong crowd! I was one of those kids myself, but back when I was that age things were different.

@gen. hos I suggest you do some research. We are in an unprecedented epidemic of poisonous fentanyl. First, it was substance users, then young kids getting things off snap chat. Don’t be so quick to be judgy because you may very well be affected by this drug. Either a friend or a loved one. Who knows where it will be next. It could be on your local salad bar

@gen. hos it’s not just snap chat this shit is coming in on. Just a matter of time before someone drops it in the water supply. This should be everyone’s concern. Don’t blame the parents because I know many great parents whose children have died from this including myself. It’s the “times in which we live”. FDA opened the door for opioids and thereby opened pandoras box

My son passed of an overdose but I can say he was a compassionate human being and for that I am proud. These are kids that are dying. Kids do stupid things. Surely you understand that. They should t die of poison that is coming from Chinese cartels. This is much bigger than you even know. I realize that you are a person set in their ways and cannot fathom that maybe this is more than black and white

  • @brookecodi2
    @brookecodi2 2 роки тому +47

Okay this is something I need to get out there and off my chest as someone who has lost 2 people I knew to fentanyl overdoses. It is not an addiction thing. It is not the type of "overdose" situation that is stereotyped or shown in media. This is affecting those who are naive to drug taking or unaware of the dangers it could bring. Often times these kids are taking it as a "one night" thing or believe it's some type of xanax or other relaxant. It's about blinded trust, and putting trust in people or situations because you are young and don't think it will happen to you. Often times the friends or people supplying these drugs don't even know they are laced by the manufacturers, and the smallest amount of fentanyl can kill you when laced in a type of pill or equivalent. Please, if you are reading this, don't take something you aren't 100% sure is safe. Better yet, don't take pills or other drugs at all. You will save your own precious life and your loved ones from a horrible, unimaginable heartache. I don't mean to scare you, but please.

I don't know why medical professionals think that opioid pain killers are so much better than painkillers like Aleve. After my C-section I was in excruciating pain. The nurse then told me she was giving me "the good stuff" (wink wink), which was some kind of opioid. It did very little and the pain continued. The next day they put me on some generic version of Aleve, and finally I got some relief. Maybe it has something to do with body chemistry - why some people find opioids so powerful and irresistible.

I think it's completely understandable that the mom is upset that the other mom never gave her a heads-up that "Hey, my daughter's had some problems with drug use. Just thought you should know since your daughter spends a lot of time with her and could be at risk too." Some hint could have made all the difference in the world. And the two moms knew each other fairly well too so Kendall's mom apparentally felt a false sense of security with her daughter hanging out with this daughter of a family friend.
Sure it's true that whoever takes an illegal drug or a drug not prescribed specifically for herself bears the ultimate responsibility. But not sole responsibility. If this so-called friend had never introduce her to drugs - probably normalizing them to her - and procured them for her, she wouldn't have taken the drug that killed her. Maybe she'd have ended up taking drugs provided by someone else some other time...who knows. This so-called friend absolutely deserves to be held partially responsible for Kendall's death. Not entirely, but definitely partially.

When it comes to fentanyl overdoses it is not even necessarily about addiction. Theyre putting fent in everything so even if a kid is peer pressured into taking one xanax or one percocet they could have some bad luck and it be laced with a lethal dose of fent. A teen can have a minor habit or just dabble in weak drugs but then get sold a pressed pill. And the fakes these days are looking more and more real.
For whatever reason "perc 30s" have been the trend for a few years now. With the name Perc 30 you would think it is the prescription narcotic percocet when in reality it is just the street name for a fent pressed pill. There is no such thing as a "30mg Percocet"

Kids who make dumb choices like this often have serious underlying issues. Teens with strong support systems and education don't go down this path. It all comes back to being able to trust authority. No one in my family or my husbands had ever done heroin or something so addicting. Even relatives said he will grow out of it. Of course, by then I had done tons of research and began to understand just how Evil this drug is. Once addicted, the user literally cannot control their compulsion to use. I guarantee it s beyond what I ever believed was possible. It turns the person into a zombie seeking human. That is why people neglect their children, run out of Walmart with a TV, collapsed veins, limbs amputated… it’s horrible. Plus the parents live everyday trying to change a person that physically cannot change because the drugs have hijacked our brain. It is a nightmare! It is a very difficult and complicated disease to explain and understand. Believe me I thought addicts were losers till it happened to my son who was far from that. It’s sad, but I think if it were just heroin and not fentanyl, he might be alive today. Fentanyl is a game changer. We should be going into Mexico and destroying labs. Also, we need to hold China accountable for shipping it into Mexico. The govt won’t do anything so it’s the mothers/fathers/wife’s/siblings who are now banding together to spread awareness even at the risk of ridicule because they want no other parent to experience this horrific drug

Most kids try drugs its impossible for this stuff to not happen nowadays but this fentanyl crisis is so fucked up. I 100% agree with the push for people to stay away from all opiates and drugs in general but kids are always going to try smoking weed or stuff like mushrooms in high school but it sucks that kids cant mess up without risking their life nowadays its so messed up how they lace these things knowing damn well people are going to die. Its been going on for a while now but its gotten so bad with the fentanyl.

Amazing how most parents have NO CLUE as to what their children are doing or where they go nowadays. My brother and I told our parents everything from who we were hanging out with to where we were going and what we planned on doing as well gave them a phone number to any place we were going. Forward 40 years to today and I'm still alive with no inclination of wanting anything to do with drugs.

It’s a different drug scene today. My son told me where he was going, I knew his friends and girl friend, he never missed curfew. Some kids today don’t even have curfew. He went away to college and found Xanax and then heroin. Then fentanyl polluted those drug sources and he passed. It’s easy for people to judge but really there are a lot of different reasons people use and it doesn’t always have to do with bad parenting. My daughter on the other hand graduated college and doesn’t touch drugs so the parent blaming thing goes out the door on this one.

RIP beautiful girl but the parents views on addiction are skewed by their daughters untimely death. They didn’t have the chance to ride out the ride, when the mom says things like “well they can have a dead kid” if parents don’t drug test there kids.. or “if her friends would have sent a note she could have been stopped” sure maybe she could have been but the reality is most addicts, no matter how beautiful, how smart, how good or wealthy of a family they come from; take a minimum of 5 stays to get clean. Harassing your children won’t get them clean, disowning them won’t get them clean. Nothing she’s suggesting could or would have been the bomb that “saved” her daughter. I know she can’t help but think of the what if’s and why’s & I don’t blame her at all.. just saying.

A single hair isn't going to be enough for a hair drug test, and you can't use hair collected from a brush or another source - it must be taken directly from the person's head. For the analysis to effectively determine drug use, a sample of hair needs to be 1.5 inches long, and have the thickness of a pencil. Also it takes time for you to get the results back. It only takes 1 time their first time and they die its already happened to young people before and if you think you need to test your child's hair for drugs good chance that probably already exposed and another thing staring to talk about drugs to a teenager to late. Start telling them young chances are you already know someone that's a bad alcoholic even has a bad drug problem. Let your kids see what's it like for them the struggle and the hell that person is going through exposure to the reality bad hard core is what they will remember because many people get addicted in a matter of days now. Also check with your local district attorney's office to see what programs are available in a teaching capacity don't. wait for them to learn in high school because drugs are already in the school. It's bad in every state now and what the police are getting off the streets is fentanyl or something else thats pressed to look like a certain drug like a Percocet or looks like. A Roxy but its just fentanyl with whatever else they put into it to make it look like whatever "pill" they are trying to sell it's not a Percocet laced with fentanyl as the reporter said. Its just fake pills made with fentanyl and it only takes 1 pill 1st time and that person goes to sleep and never wakes up. I think it's something like 80% or higher the drugs taken off the streets is just fentanyl coming in from Mexico made in China it has to be someone higher up letting this poison come into the USA because of the quantity that's taken off the streets Google IT. Google everything and the town. Sending people that are addicted to drugs to jail does nothing they need treatment after they become addicted then they relapse and that goes on for the rest of their life. And look at her she's a really good smart kid with the entire world out there for her. She thought that she was taking a Percocet or whatever for a little buz. Or a high but to many people still don't even know what's going on with these drugs because the media doesn't report it correctly ( not trying to put all the blame on them) we as parents and grandparents need to know so we can try like hell to prevent these kids the good ones and the ones that some people refer to as the wrong side of the tracks they all need to be saved. Get involved go talk to your local district attorney's office as well as police officers all divisions local and state and the firefighters and EMS if they don't have a program for the kids young even as 5 6 7 years old btw i started teaching my child much younger and exposed him to what happens to the person most times its another family member and as for my child he had what's called and old soul and everybody said omg she's exposing her child to these who happened to ne family members ( all dead each and everyone of them died because of the drugs or a combination of both. Starting at about age 11 12 maybe 13 where already doing drugs and i told him that he didn't have to be close friends with them anymore just be nice and get away because he couldn't do anything to help that friend stop taking drugs etc. After he grew up and he left for LSU I ALREADY KNEW THAT he was going to go very far in life because he was very smart even very young and it wasn't if you go to college it was always when you go to college either a medical surgeon like his grandfather or engineering degree like his dad he chose engineering and did very well in college. And he was recruited to a huge company to work for before he even graduated from college and he's doing extremely well. I had to get off of Facebook those same mother's that said i was not a good mother because of showing him what the end lookes like with the people he loved that wete going to either die or go to prison. Those parents are sending me messages and calling me to help them with their own children " young adults now to stop them from going to their early graves or to prison. I'm a grandma now and my only child is doing extremely well and met a beautiful lady that he absolutely adores and I'm now. Grandmother. Our family also lost several extremely young smart amazing kids at a very young age and none of us knew about this fentanyl people say it will get much better with time absolutely no way the lost just keeps getting harder and I'm sorry but the holidays are hell. We also lost my precious nephew (who was already taking course at Duke university every summer for gifted kids starting at age 12 or 13 years old he wanted to become a neurosurgeon. However for spring break he a 17 year old was drinking a. Chocolate milkshake on the beach when a woman high on i think 7 different drugs and alcohol she left the Hwy at a high rate of speed driving a huge Suburban and hit him and dragged him because he became lodged under her Suburban it pulled most of his skin off of his body and destroyed his heart so only his heart valves could be donated. I thought he died instantly but to our horror he was still alive when the police arrived and the high women was saying that her arm hurt. About 100 kids where also on the beach all from a private school also for gifted kids. Those students told the officers that she hit someone but nobody could see his body ( she ran off of the road about 100 yards before she hit and dragged him a long way again before her Suburban hit a tree to stop her because she never braked. To the officers horror he was found lodged under the suburban still alive. That woman came to court everyday extremely high on many drugs never looked at my sister or het husband and appeared to be extremely annoyed at having to sit down in the courtroom. She had a small fine and received 11 years but will only spend a very few of that time given to her. His body was so broken he had to be cremated. Our family lost 3 other very close cousins.under age 21 because of the people driving (all different car wrecks) were all high on alcohol and alcohol and drugs. That's what young kids need to see with their own eyes not in a book or the internet but the families and the people that were killed because of drugs when they are young not teenagers.

This man has a warning to middle class white folk, in this country, about Fentynal because most of these deaths are white folk.
Question, where was all this concern when black folk were caught up in The Crack Epidemic.
As an Afro-American, I am amazed that white addicts can overdose on Opioids and Heroin and given Narcan, oftentimes by law enforcement officers, and sent on their way to die another day.
However, if I am caught with crack cocaine, I am going straight to jail.
