How To Tie The Boom Hitch

- The Boom Hitch looks more complicated to tie than it really is. The attributes of this knot are that even after it has been loaded, it is relatively easy to untie. This greatest benefit to this knot though is how resistant it is to sideways motion, even on smooth pipe. For these reasons, it is one of my go to knots for tying safety lines.

Great job demonstrating and explaining.
Thank you sir.
Thanks! will use slipped version for plant trellises.
Been looking at your how-tos to pick a knot to start my subaru's side rail wraps with. I have a roof bag that has buckled webbing to secure it to the side rails without a roof rack or crossbars... But it tends to slide backward after highway trips.
I thought of just tying rope from the back of each section of the side rail, up to the point I want the strap to remain at.
I was going to do "macrame" style Cobra ties (basically just repeated squares) but found when starting it that the cordage still had some easy movement.
(I planned to start at the point I want the straps to sit at, tie to the back of the rail gap, then go back over the first set to form the "king cobra" and melt the ends to finish it at the start. This would make a thicker wrap to ensure things wouldn't slide even if they came a bit loose from the roof bag's contents shifting inside.)
I came here looking for a locking, constrictive knot to use to begin the wrap with, which could easily be tied in a way leaving me with two even working ends to tie the series of squares with-essentially by beginning at the rope's bight to tie the locking knot and then beginning the squares after that...
I think this fits the bill. Thanks for helping me avoid glue or any other irreversible solutions to this annoying problem 👍
Ah, that looks very Secure❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻😊
Anton Blebann it is. One of the best binding knots I know of.
If I was to remember only one hitch would this be the one?🤔
