As long as they are a playoff contender, you have to keep Russ. If something happens to Fields, I don't think they are winning a Super Bowl with Kyle Allen. Then you wasted another year of great defense.
Okay, here’s mine
1.) Absolutely no RW trade. We need a solid back up. RW is like have bragging rights saying out loud he’s our back up. There’s one exception….
2.) Exception is getting an offer that cannot be refused by any rational person that can guarantee a production increase on the offensive side. I’d like to consider a defense player but I think it’s unlikely.
3.) If scenario 2 pans out we need to find a back up for Justin. We absolutely need a back up that can get points. Our defense can aid in the event Just has to sit for 2-3 weeks but we still need more than Boswell scoring for our offense.
Why sacrifice our fortunate QB position. You want that Allen kid to takeover if Justin gets hurt??

It’s a long season. Just 3 games in and injuries are already having an affect. Our 1st rounder is out,Highsmith and Seamolu . Roman Wilson hasn’t seen the field. If you have a quality backup QB you hang on to him. Look at Miami. In total disarray with Tua out. Don’t risk it. Just my take.

You make no sense! You really think when the Steelers play better teams, this formula of winning is going to work. Defense is winning the games so far. This is t going to work agaisnt Mahomes, Allen, Stroud or even Burrow if his team get it together.
Russ to Dolphins makes zero sense for the Steelers. THat's national media chatter because there are ppl in mainstream media who hate Russell Wilson so they are trying to speak into existence him going to a situation where he has no chance to be fulltime starter like the Dolphins because of Tua's contract. The media's worst nightmare is if Russ takes over for FIelds and with that defense takes the Steelers on a deep playoff run, let alone Super Bowl run because of how much they've buried him and how much they want to write him out the HOF. And truthfully that's a very realistic scenario if he actually does get healthy given the gauntlet of a schedule the Steelers have the 2nd half of the season. It's highly likely Fields has a 3-4 game rough patch that opens the door for Russ that he takes and fully seizes as a QB who raises their ceiling in terms of TDs he can produce while limiting turnovers.
I totally agree. I like Fields but I like Wilson better. Wilson is not missing touchdown throws because he is so focused on check downs. I have seen too many plays with wr wide open down the field but no pass. I don't think Russell is missing those plays.

But Fields hasnt run with abandon yet this season. So you cant say hes prime for a concussion or ankle injury he ran more with the bears and wasnt injured that often he has no history of concussions either and a lot of his injuries have been minor and hes played through some of them so the injury concern is a little overblown
Its only 3 games and people think the Steelers are SB bound. I would wait to the deadline and see what the offers are. A 4th rd pick is the least i would take. Allen has a lot of experience so he would be fine as the backup.

I think if Fields wins against the Cowboys, the Jets, and at least have a .500 or better record against the division he should get the starting job. Atlanta is the only decent team the Steelers played so far.

Doesn't Russel Wilson's contract have a no trade clause. While any contract can be amended both parties must agree the changes.
They're not going to get rid of Russ until after the season because they need him for the tougher games and Russ is too good to not use him in the playoffs.
I agree that it would be so hard not to trade him if a team comes calling with a first or a second and a decent WR. But then you're one Fields injury away from Kyle Allen leading this team. And that's kind of scary to be honest. They need Russ as an insurance policy. It would suck to waste this defense again with really poor QB play. They've been decent the last couple years, particularly last year.

It depends on what the offer is. On one hand the qb depth is nice but then again with his injury I really think at any moment he might pop his achilles. He can't even get to the field. So it honestly depends on the offer. Probably wouldn't take a pick because its going to be pretty low but a player that could help now is possible.
