At the same time it's a mirror.....kept in front of us, That's why this mini- series is so... " popular" ?
Errol Badenbroek the female scientist is actually fake, HBO added her to represent all the “hidden” scientists who helped out. I loved that addition btw
@@hemantagarwal6279 Yes we have. Serial called "Moths". Tons of videos, documentaries also available on youtube. This serial from HBO is fine, costumes, decorations, acting are - very very well done. I'm looking forward to watch HBO serials with truth about 9/11 or about "incident" at Three Mile island nuclear plant on 1976 for example.
Stellan played Shcherbina brilliantly. Of all the characters in the show, I was most sympathetic with Shcherbina. Here was a man who had to project power and authority yet at the same was aware of how delicately the situation had to be managed. Brilliant portrayal!

These 2 together on screen is truly magnificent. The story is horrific - watching these 2 outstanding actors make it real & present & soul crushing (which this story must be) is a gift & something everyone should experience. Thank you gentlemen for your masterful work.
Both Stellan Skarsgard and Jared Harris did spectacular acting on the show. I am really excited for the final episode as well. Thank you for making this video!
Amazing Actors !!! I started the series from day one and I was impressed by their performance . I hope they both win an award for their work on this amazing production .
I'm only 3 episodes in and I can honestly say it's one of the most phenomenal mini-series based on real life events that I've ever seen. Not only do Jared and Stellan both give exceptional performances, but it is so well directed, the score, the tone, they really did their homework and drive home a level of connection and fear that is seldom seen in a show like this.
The point they make about how well written the script was to make something so complex, understandable to "even actors", is one of the biggest feats of this show to me. Amazing show all round.
Stellan gives absolutely zero fucks. God he’s good. Chernobyl has been an excellent teaching device. Watched many docos on Chernobyl now. It’s fascinating.
This show is amazing, as well as the podcast with the show runners, going more in depth about the research they did for each episode. Emily Watson is really great, especially last episode interviewing all the victims in the hospital. I remember she was great also in ‘Appropriate Adult’
00:20 it was a heroic sacrifice of thousands Soviet citizens, not Ukrainians, but tens of different ethnicities/nations of the former USSR that were liquidating the nuclear f¥ck up. Most of them were Russian, Ukrainian and Belarus, but many other ethnicities too (even one Afro-Soviet citizen). Great actors, great show 👍
At least somebody (from all this "enlightened" commentators' posse) got it right here - kudos! And Hell with all this "Art Nuevo" pro-Ukrainain [Uestern] bias!
Think of what it takes to get into these characters they played..incredible job they did absolutely smashed it! And I especially appreciate the writers keeping it tight and to the desperate point and not dragging it out to 35 episodes!
Very impressed with these two and their brilliant performances in Chernobyl. Specifically impressed with Harris' and his convincing the audience of his knowledge of nuclear physics and complicated terminology / dialogue.
And then he looks outside the window and sees the Soviet children running around in the street, just a few kilometers away from the open nuclear reactor. One of the many moments of absolutely *perfect* visual storytelling in the show.
I binge-watched all four (4) episodes yesterday (Thursday, May 30, 2019) because of all the hype about the series that I had recently read about, here on UA-cam and online, in general. Suffice it to say, Stellan, Jared and Emily, the three Principal Actors, are just magnificent. I loved Episode 1's "look": that greyish-green camera/lens filter that made everything that you were seeing on film reminiscent of that time period in the Ukraine, in the mid-to-late 1980s, lest we not forget the Set Design and the Musical Score, which is most riveting. Now, I am greatly anticipating the final Episode 5 entitled "Vechnaya pamyat" (Everlasting Memory), to be aired on June 3, 2019. If Jared and Stellan, especially, do not receive Emmys and/or BAFTAs for their work in this multi-part series, then Donald Trump's middle name surely is "J(ackass)" lol Chernobyl is brilliant, mesmerizing, so please see it at your earliest convenience. Remember, I was able to binge-watch the first four episodes in just under 12 hours, so it is very manageable. Thank you graciously again, HBO, for your continued excellence in movie-making!
Unbelievably amazing mini series!!! Just watched the final episode tonight. One of the best shows I've ever seen. I was completely captivated and enthralled the whole time.
Aside from his amazing performance in Chernobyl, I recently watched The Simpleminded Murderer with a young Skarsgård (early 1980s iirc) and it's madness what a bandwidth that guy has.
actually, not only the ukrainians did take part in that operation. there were people from each and every city of each and every country within the soviet union. my uncle's dad participated in this, and he died in the early 2000s, and surely his health was damaged. those were brave and life-loving men and women, who absolutely realised they were being sent to an extremely dangerous place to do a more extremely dangerous activity. even though there were way too much lies around the situation. and what is more important, they were not bound by national differences or stereotypes of skin color or eye shape. they all did their job, and did it good. they knew it were them who really had and could do it. and that they had no time to procrastinate and waste time -- their families' time, their friends' time, the whole worlds' time. and i personally haven't ever heard from any of them a single word of regret. no one did ever say they did wrong. not because of propaganda. P.S. In extreme condititons it is very simple to learn if you are doing the right thing or not -- you face the results of your actions istantly. I hope this never happens again May we all live in peace one day. And be alive and sane to witness this day. (from a Russian guy)

Dyatlov would give the series the rate of 3.6 on imdb
3.6...not great, not terrible.
It’s not a rating of 3, it’s 150000.
HAHAHAHA
Means the highest too. :))
You can do better than recycling dialogues.
Comrade it was just 3.6 roentgen a RBMK reactor cant explode
3.6 roentgen? Well thats not great but not terrible either .
a billion trillion billion bullets...
@Raga Dely THERE IS NO GRAPHITE ON THE GROUND!!!! do you want the KGB to remind you of that??
NapoleonBonaparte - I swear this show has many meme-worthy moments... "THIS MAN IS DELUSIONAL. TAKE HIM TO THE INFIRMARY"
Nick Hunter billion trillion bullets? I DONT SEE IT. He’s delusional, take him to the infirmary.
This show was stellar top to bottom - the writing, the acting, the cinematography, the score, ALL of it simply stellar. THANK you to everyone involved.
They have so much chemistry (lol) both onscreen and irl, I love their performances! And the series is amazing, great job!
‘Chernobyl’ has so many lines and quotes people will recognize and remember for years to come.
It’s incredible.
Good to see Dumbledores son and Tarzans dad in charge of the situation!
Damn. I've never made the connection between Richard Harris and Jared Harris. Amazing. It makes a lot of sense. Brilliant actors.
Also It’s father
Quinlan IM FLABBERGASTED
Don't forget he's also Pennywise's dad. Damn, what a family.
Great acting...great writing...great drama!! Should be given every award possible.
Not to mention the directing and cinematography.
These two are brilliant together in Chernobyl. In episode 4 the moment Stellan has with the phone made me just laugh so hard. Such a shame its just 5 episodes but give them all awards - they deserve it.
Honestly two of my favourite actors and they both smashed it in Chernobyl!! 10/10 show
I think the three main characters have been the best choice for this horrifying true event . A perfectly well written black page in the history of man kind. I was 20 y old when this happened in utter shock and terrified. It's good this is shown raw to the present world. This should not be forgotten! At the same time it's a mirror.....kept in front of us, That's why this mini- series is so... " popular" ?
Errol Badenbroek the female scientist is actually fake, HBO added her to represent all the “hidden” scientists who helped out. I loved that addition btw
.....hes delusional, take him to the infirmary
This show is truly amazing & the actors do a phenomenal job telling this story in history, absolutely love it!
Im Russian ) and i have just finished serial "Chernobyl". Masterpiece and was so sad and hard to watch it .(((
Viktoriya Padurya согласен, просто потрясающе!
Is it true that russians making their own version of Chernobyl?
@@hemantagarwal6279 Yes we have. Serial called "Moths". Tons of videos, documentaries also available on youtube. This serial from HBO is fine, costumes, decorations, acting are - very very well done. A lot of things in series off course far away from truth but main idea is to show how bad socialism/communism is. And i didn't get the main point of series... I'm looking forward to watch HBO serials with truth about 9/11 or about "incident" at Three Mile island nuclear plant on 1976 for example.
Виктория. Вы называете сериал Masterpiece. в некотором роде -да, но вот это посмотрите - ua-cam.com/video/_4qSXaU8M2o/v-deo.html
HEMANT AGARWAL, unfortunately, yes
Was able to watch this the other day, easily the best piece of television I've seen in 20 years. Just wonderful on every level.
Stellan played Shcherbina brilliantly. Of all the characters in the show, I was most sympathetic with Shcherbina. Here was a man who had to project power and authority yet at the same was aware of how delicately the situation had to be managed. Brilliant portrayal!
Professor Moriarty and Dr. Selvig did a great job.
They’re so fantastic actors in one-hell-of a tv masterpiece, the act so well together, make ready the awards for that fantastic tv mini series in all categories
If anyone is looking for something else to watch with Jared Harris in it I highly recommend The Terror. Amazing series.
Yeah 1000%
And Mad Men. He joins the show in the second season iirc.
if u wanna watch Valery Legasov tryna manage a ship while gay Vasily Ignatenko evolves into the villain watch The Terror
Belter Loader. The Expanse
Terror is amazing, but the book was better!
These two are cute together. I like the part when Boris says “is that a smile?” and gives him a hug. 🥰
Jared Harris is my most perplexing mancrush.
That makes both of us
I like how stellan just on his own buzz😂😂looks like that grumpy dad sitting in the family table.
stellar skateboard
Those two actors together light up the screen!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If you haven't watched Chernobyl yet you definitely should. This series is a bigger deal than most may realize. It's quite stunning.
These men are outstanding. Give them the BAFTAs and the Emmys.
These guy's deserve some major awards. Fantastic performance from both of them.
Its interesting how Skarsgard doesnt have accent when he acts, but he has it in everyday life. Great actor.
what are you talking about? You can clearly hear his Swedish accent when he acts in Chernobyl.
MrErikxxon I noticed a different accent here too
It's only slightly different. I think in Chernobyl he's using a British-Swedish accent while his normal one is more American.
This is his real accent, Swedish not American!!
His English is TERRIFIC whatever anyone may say. Fools non natives without a single problem.
Producers at HBO: Oh shit, GoT s8 is bombing hardcore.. what do we do!?
Operators: Hit the AZ-5...
BAM! And Chernobyl explodes into the scene...
Somehow I feel like E5 of Game of Thrones was a foreshadow for Chernobyl....
I think this was possibly the best TV show I've ever watched. Unbelievably good! Thank you all the actors and crew. Amazing!!! 👍👍
Jarred Harris Must take some awards i mean big awards. He is really good actor and he deserves the best.
Like father, like son!
Thank you for making this video!
both these dudes deserve many accolades, great performances!
Amazing Actors !!! I started the series from day one and I was impressed by their performance . I hope they both win an award for their work on this amazing production .
Loved Stellan Skarsgård's breakdown of acting in this interview...
I wish my GF would look at me like Jared looks at Stellan.
Amazing miniseries. Both of these two actors slammed it.
Fantastic show. I’ve watched it twice through and I’m still thinking about it. Beautifully shot and acted. Music was amazing.
So far I’m blown away by there acting and I’m from Eastern Europe amazing
Stellan performance was outstanding... same with the actor who played Dyatlov.. such good performances from the main character to the last extra...
Tell me comrade ? how does an rbmk reactor explode ??
Lies.
This is how an RBMK reactor core explodes...Lies
If you stall the reactor, just press choke (az 5)
Stellan gives absolutely zero fucks. God he’s good. Chernobyl has been an excellent teaching device. Watched many docos on Chernobyl now. It’s fascinating.
Great for the generations born decades later. To reteach and never forget.
This show is amazing, as well as the podcast with the show runners, going more in depth about the research they did for each episode. Emily Watson is really great, especially last episode interviewing all the victims in the hospital. I remember she was great also in ‘Appropriate Adult’
Agreed the whole way around - have you watched "Breaking The Waves" with Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgård? That's a trip and a half
Where can I find the podcast?
@@cynguzman itunes, podcast apps, hbo website, youtube. Definitely worth listening to
00:20 it was a heroic sacrifice of thousands Soviet citizens, not Ukrainians, but tens of different ethnicities/nations of the former USSR that were liquidating the nuclear f¥ck up.
These two really did bring out the best in each other as actors throughout the whole series. Every scene they had together was a show stealer.
these 2 have so great chemistry in the series. Great actors
Think of what it takes to get into these characters they played..incredible job they did absolutely smashed it! And I especially appreciate the writers keeping it tight and to the desperate point and not dragging it out to 35 episodes!
The show is brilliant and these guys deserve an oscar!
Since it's television, it would be an Emmy.
These two guys killed it. Amazing actors.
The whole series was incredible but the final episode has to be one of the best episodes in all of television history!
Very impressed with these two and their brilliant performances in Chernobyl. Specifically impressed with Harris' and his convincing the audience of his knowledge of nuclear physics and complicated terminology / dialogue.
Jared Harris will win the Emmy for his outstanding performance.
He damn well should 👍
My favourite bit is when the minister catches the scientist smiling, after the first robots success, "what is that? A smile ,? Agh agh agh " big hug
A little premature happiness for what was to come next 😔
do a buddy comedy please!! such a lovely chemistry
Fantastic acting, and outstanding show.
"They're not letting school-children play outside......in Frankfurt"
Not even in Yugoslavia.:))
And then he looks outside the window and sees the Soviet children running around in the street, just a few kilometers away from the open nuclear reactor.
One of the many moments of absolutely *perfect* visual storytelling in the show.
@@MrConstantine02 Good nowdays with PC games and children on safe in their rooms. :)))))
one of the best series to watch .cleared many details about the disaster..also very well played by them..hats off..
Amazing performances! Could not have casted better people
Amazing performances from these two. The serie is a masterpiece
Hell yeah Steller Skateboard, you tell em!
heynong man
Which moment?
Aside from his amazing performance in Chernobyl, I recently watched The Simpleminded Murderer with a young Skarsgård (early 1980s iirc) and it's madness what a bandwidth that guy has.
"Daddy" Skarsgard is still awesome. One of the best series this year.
Best serial of 2019☝️💙💛🔥
thank you from Ukraine☝️
They should be having this conversation in front of a fireplace with a glass of scotch
I love the chemestry between them here and on the show. Literally all of the actors were incredible it's really amazing casting
Two of best actors out there, really enjoy their work - I'd pretty much anything they are in.
I love how you can tell these two genuinely enjoyed working with each other.
actually, not only the ukrainians did take part in that operation. there were people from each and every city of each and every country within the soviet union. my uncle's dad participated in this, and he died in the early 2000s, and surely his health was damaged. those were brave and life-loving men and women, who absolutely realised they were being sent to an extremely dangerous place to do a more extremely dangerous activity. even though there were way too much lies around the situation.
and what is more important, they were not bound by national differences or stereotypes of skin color or eye shape. they all did their job, and did it good.
they knew it were them who really had and could do it. and that they had no time to procrastinate and waste time -- their families' time, their friends' time, the whole worlds' time. and i personally haven't ever heard from any of them a single word of regret. no one did ever say they did wrong. not because of propaganda.
P.S. In extreme condititons it is very simple to learn if you are doing the right thing or not -- you face the results of your actions istantly.
I hope this never happens again
May we all live in peace one day. And be alive and sane to witness this day.
(from a Russian guy)
Им всё равно, к сожалению . . .
Love these two gems. They are bringing home some awards this season.
These two together are magic.
great actors, these two had amazing chemistry in front of the camera. How it went from the initial clash of egoes to sincere respectfulness and friendship. The caterpillar scene had me in tears.
Boris: Tell me how a nuclear reactor works?
Legasov: 😐
You can just tell these two are such good buddies. It came through on screen as well, fantastic acting with that added unmistakable personal chemistry you cant recreate. Top stuff.
