Lay Dee, Lena was a gifted singer and performer and even had her own TV Show in Scotland when she was a teenager. She had terrible depression and anorexia and died at age 35 in 1999. Very sad and gone way too soon. That's why I posted these songs of Lena singing on my Channel......as a memorial.

Yes, Jagdish, she was a Natural singer/performer with immense talent! This was easy for her to sing, although, she was very hard on herself to make everything that she performed perfect! Lena was like a young Judy Garland! She sang with so much emotion and had a very mature way of approaching each song.

The host is Johnny Carson. This clip of Lena was from an appearance on the Tonight Show in June 1974. (He was the host of it from 1962 to 1992. And yes, they had a live orchestra....and she sang live with them, nothing prerecorded or lipsynced.)
Who's the host? That's a first for me. You must be pretty young. The co-host was famous too. Ed McMahon. He hosted Star Search in the 80's. There were a few other guys before Johnny Carson that were before my time. The Tonight Show goes back to 1954. In the beginning there was Steve Allen then Jack Lescoulie and Al Collins then Jack Paar then Johnny Carson then Jay Leno then Conan O'Brien then Jay Leno again then Jimmy Fallon. I'm enjoying watching reruns of the Ed Sullivan Show on tv every Sunday now. That show goes way back too.
