I’ve been watching them for 20 years, nearly my whole life. I’m just astounded at their lack of ability to win the contest and for me, more importantly their inability to defend the ground. It’s shocking how easy teams can transition the length of the ground through their defence.

Damien Hardwick is learning that it is not easy to coach a side that actually needs to travel. Seriously, the commentary around Gold Coast is too negative. They are now good enough to win 80% of home games, once they improve well enough to win 50% of games on the road, top four beckons. They haven't previously been good enough to win the majority of their home games like they have been this year, they are improving. All of the negative commentary comes from Victorian coaches that don't fully appreciate the challenges of being an interstate side.
true, travel is their weekness but most non victorian sides dont have winning records in melbourne and most interstate teams have decent home records as well so i would like to see the numbers on victorian sides travelling. suns are going to do ok under hardwick in the next few seasons. the afl look after them with the draw usually.

As it stands now, the top 8 this year will be really stacked, and there's very good teams down to at least 13th on the ladder. But we see this happen year after year with the football media, though I'd much rather listen to these 3 than Channel 9's Head of Football in 2024 Mr Tom Morris, as well as some others with their 'Shock Jock' style of journalism & their narcissistic endeavours of critique.

There never was an "edge". A side with an edge puts other sides away and the weak percentage has always said this is NOT a side with an edge.
