Hi Sarah + partner , thanks for the kind comments regarding the video , yeah I found carp anglers a strange breed including me, thousands of pounds of gear to set up in mud don’t make sense , but it’s what we do , glad you enjoyed the rant your not the only one to say this 👍😂😂
Great stuff Ben! We've got 23 to 26 on Oak booked for 5 nights from next Sunday. Other than I put a big shot halfway along my hook length, my rigs are pretty much identical to yours. I've been using it since the 90's. I've tried all of the trendy Christmas tree rigs that cost a tenner each in components. It didn't increase my catches, it just took longer to tie the bloody things. A simple rig, a tiny stick of super oily loveliness, and a small bait, I found tiny pieces of pepperami last year on Oak was epic, is absolutely devastating these days because no one else does it. I use running rigs if I can get away with it, and really small leads. Fish just don't see that approach anymore.
Glad you liked the video , I try and keep it as real as possible, good luck on your trip hope you all catch , let me know how you get on , and regarding the rigs your spot on , very simple but very effective, keep doing what your doing and catch rate will stay high 👍
Yes Ben I’m currently on oak peg 33 been here since Sunday, watched your videos took ur advice on the TNT absolutely smashed it landed 2 grass carp & 36lb mirror. Keep up the content mate 👊🏻
Thanks nick. , glad you enjoyed yourself and a massive well done on your fish , glad the advise worked for you and thanks for your support regarding the videos , there’s a new video out now on the channel as well 👍👍
Hi Jason thanks for the kind comments , yeah I keep it fairly simple as normally I find to technical can mean not a good catch rate , especially with bits and pieces on your rigs 👍
That 27lb is one of the best looking carp iv ever seen! When that hits high 30s 40 that will be a trophy fish for sure!! Would have been over the moon if I had that! Smashed it again as always mate always enjoy watching and glad to see that you had a 47lber out.. again!😂 absolute weapon of a carp that bruv! Keep up the hard work
Hi mate thanks for the kind comments regarding the videos , yeah I agree that 27lb koi fully scaled was a belter of a carp , yeah the big linear is certainly a sight to see and 47lb was over the moon .👍
Finally, a UA-cam angler who can think for themselves rather than regurgitate the usual bollocks about mega rigs etc. How refreshing. Excellent result btw.
Thanks Jonathan , I try and keep it real as possible and just say it as I see it , to many wannabes in fishing and all there doing is making there Selfs look like prats , glad you liked the video , thanks for the kind comments 👍
Cracking session again on Oak Benn(i moved from Surrey to Dorset 9 years ago and yes the sun does shine hear 😎),glad you continue to put it out there regarding the industry regarding rigs/end tackle etc-£££££’s😡,I’m like you and keep my rigs simple and don’t use tubing or leaders where rules allow, love watching yours and your dads videos, keep up the good work and once again too angling(ps can you stay away that big kin’s got my name on it🤣😎)
Hi Steve , glad you like the content. , I try and keep it as real as I can and the rigs as simple as I can , I think a lot of anglers watch big platforms and get up in a world they don’t need to be in , I will try not to catch the biggun again 😂, I will pass the message onto dad , thanks for the feedback very kind , ps are you sure the sun comes out in Dorset 👍
Nice one mate, great session. Having watched a couple of your videos it be nice to see some different angles, casting, baiting up, bait prep, that sort of thing. I know the weather was rubbish but could film from the brolly? Just a thought mate.
Hi Hugh , as much as I would love to have 3 cameras all different views etc , it’s just me with my phone , it’s a basic filming about me carp fishing I’m not trying to be a superstar , unfortunately there’s only so much I can do with the weather conditions , I always mention the bait and rigs so people know what to use wen they go fishing 👍
Hi mate thanks for the kind comments regarding the videos , yeah if I’m down by all means come round I will help as much as I can , the one bit of advice I can give you is use the steamies tnt boilies that’s the bait that’s dominates down there , good luck with your sesh 👍
Hi graham , glad you like the videos. , yes we have fished festival with the bait and we found the krill and bloodworm and hydro squid was really good for me , dad did a video on the oconnor angle on you tube not long ago , go and check it out , hope it helps
Great vid and great catches You mentioned about you had a good heater in one of your vids, but didn't elaborate on it Any chance of knowing what heater you use please
It’s good your doing your own thing with rigs and keeping it simple as I do myself but don’t like no tubing above the clip,I feel bare line can cause damage to a hooked fish
Thanks Paul , glad you like the video , the best ones I’ve found are the drennan ones fella , but if you go online you can get lots on there for cheaper 👍
Well done mate nice session, I'm fishing peg 30 in a couple weeks, where would you say is the best place for me to put the rods, and recommend bait to use?
@@ryanwilding2836 hi Ryan the best bait on oak lake is steamies tnt it dominates that lake , if you go through my channel mate I actually done a video in swim 30 and all the info is there mate , go on steamies website and check the bait out
Hi Peter , glad you like the videos , the snap links I use are between 20lb and 30lb test that means it won’t open until that amount of strain but to be fair your hooklink or mainline will brake way before that , you can pick them up online or in any decent all round tackle shop 👍
Hi Steve , that is really kind of you , but I get my leads for nothing from smleads, it wouldn’t be right if I took some from you while being with them , I’m not one of those anglers that takes the piss out of people , thanks tho very kind mate 👍💯
Brilliant video Ben me and my partner we’re cracking up
You hit the nail on the head about expense gear in the mud hilarious

I have looked but couldn't really see any that mentioned a test weight.
Liking the simple approach
Go online and there are ones there that tell you the test etc mate 👍

Yeah wil always do my own thing and never follow the crowd, always lead , mainline all the way through , lot thiner than tubing =more bites 👍
Great blog ben have you got a link to which snap links you buy please
