That's not an unusually high number for 30 years. 20 to 30 people drown in lake Erie each year. 56 people drowned in Lake Michigan in 2020. Over 1100 people have drown in all the Great Lakes combined since 2010 when they started tracking it. I don't know much about Lake Lanier, but I'm sure millions of people have swam there in that amount of time and didn't drown.

I remember visiting a friend's vacation lake house on Lake Lanier and swimming there many times. While treading water, I did feel "things" brushing against my feet reminding me not to either jump or dive into the water because one or more of these "things" might impale me. It is a man-made lake that is the result of a dam flooding the whole **un-cleared** area that included the town of Oscarville. What might be helpful is the posting of signs everywhere on the shores of the lake prohibiting jumping/diving into the water especially from something higher up like a pontoon boat as in Dorian Pinson's tragic case.

      No it is not.
That comes off the Chattahoochee River which is not man-made.

@@Mr.Atlanta850 I am sure you researched your reply but your information is incorrect sorry, Chattahoochee river is not the answer with the two dams and two lakes along the Hooch control it & keep it from flooding ATL and contain the drinking water for Atlanta. Put very simply.
