  • From TIG welding aluminum to flux-cored welding - the Multimatic® 220 AC/DC does it all. Follow these instructions to set up your new machine.
    The Multimatic 220 AC/DC makes it easier than ever to switch between processes. QuickTech™ technology automatically determines the correct polarity and switches to the right process when the welder hits the trigger or taps the foot control. This technology also allows a MIG gun and TIG torch to be connected at the same time. In addition, the Multimatic 220 AC/DC features two shielding gas connections so both MIG and TIG gases can be attached simultaneously.

    We have one of these machines in our shop and there is a problem with air entrained in the argon. The tungsten becomes contaminated within 20 seconds of welding and there are sparks coming out of the puddle. The weld is gray and rough. The fittings are tight on the regulator and the fitting going into the machine. The O-ring looks OK in the bottom of the DINSE connector socket. The fitting at the torch body is tight. The O-ring on the back cap looks OK. I haven't opened the case to look for the gas valve. Is there anything else I should look at before opening the case?

    • @MillerWelders
      @MillerWelders  2 роки тому

      The most likely problem would be a hole in the gas line, I would try swapping to a different gas hose and verifying the issue still exists.

    • @chuckhill3764
      @chuckhill3764 2 роки тому

      @@MillerWelders Are you talking about the hose between the regulator and the fitting in the back of the machine or the hose between the DINSE connector and the torch body? Thanks!

      @@MillerWelders can you hook up a wire feeder for bigger spool of wire? And recently I saw a video on this machine where it was was hooked up to 110V and the weld parameters for the wire were adjustable between .030 and .035 wire, when hooked up to 220V can you adjust it for .045 wire? I realize you would have to change the drive rolls to .045 as well. Is that possible with this machine?

      It unfortunately does not appear to offer pulsed AC Tig. Only DC. Literally the only thing keeping this from being the perfect machine for me.

      I think all MIG (GMAW) can be converted to Floxcore (FCAW) with gaz. Simply to change the feed rollers for rollers with grooves and change the gun liner for a liner with teflon protection and buy the good gaz. Your supplier of Gas and welding products can give advise for this. But probably for this equipement you need to use manual adjust...

    No way would I pay that much for this welder! Get a separate tig and mig welder! Remember if anything goes out you have nothing until it returns!
