As someone who lives in the west loop (and has for my entire life), loved the video edit: I definitely agree with the racine bus line, it would definitely be way easier to get to other parts of the city and further north.
Good video. It feels like the Pink line could do more. Between Polk and Ashland, the train travels pretty far, passing a bunch of stuff without stopping. I wonder if a Pink/Blue transfer station at Blue IMD and/or a new Pink United Center stop could be justfiable.
They need to rebuild the Madison (United Center) station, because I’m not sure Damen/Lake is enough. Also an IMD transfer would be too close to Polk, so that probably won’t happen.
@picklerick_404 I walked from IMD to Polk, it's probably farther than CTA would consider an official farecard transfer, but it's really useful sometimes.
I’ve never heard the take of the thru running metra line that would be frequent. Something like that would provide a cross town connection that is quick and easy. Right now it hard to get to Hyde park by transit from the northside but this would solve the issue simply. You should do a video on thru running metra trains.
Think my reply is getting dinged for a link. Was trying to mention that the High Speed Rail Alliance has a concept, CrossRail Chicago, with through-running via Union Station, which has a couple through-tracks. BurjTransit's idea of using the freeway is really interesting, I'd be curious for more detail given that this freeway segment is complex (bridges, decking, express lanes, etc). Normally you don't want transit in a freeway because the land use won't generate any ridership, but in this case we have dense development right up against the freeway and we also are planning more of a regional, not local, service. It could work.
A Lakeshore express bus from west side would be a game changer.. taking the metra Union Pacific from Ogilvy north is awesome unless you want to get lakefront..
i feel like they should add a western green line stop instead of it being served by the blue pink and brown lines where people would have to walk from california or get off at damen to get to western which i consider to be a problem
The 7 and 157 already serve that connection. If having it on weekends is important as well you could extend weekend service on the 124 to Racine and Harrison.
The 60 provides Pilsen and the Near West Side/UIC area with good connections to Ogilve and Union Stations and the Loop. It supplements the Pink Line, especially in the overnight hours. It carries a lot of people. And the 157s routing on Taylor Street makes it painfully slow. Don't mess with the 60.
Magnificent video as always

I agree. The United Center would likely be the best option. I would have mentioned it, but I wanted to primarily focus on transit east of Ashland.

No don't reroute the 60 lol it serves as a connection between Union Station and UIC

I wouldn't mess with 60. The 7 doesn't serve Ogilvie so a lot more students opt to take the 60.
dont touch my beloved 60 @@BurjTransit
