For one. Gotta be hickory. 2, take off the laqure. 3, make sure the grain is straight with the edge. Next oil all parts before they go inn. I give up. Logger from most northwest tip of Washington
The battery pack 4" chain saws are great for shaping wood with. Then sand it down once shaped
