If contractors can prove a danger became apparent in NYC, they get paid more by the city. it is called hazard pay and this could have been intentional to get paid more.
This statement might be true for other situations but I can personally say this crew wasn’t getting hazard pay, I’ve worked for GLDD for over 10 yrs from a deckhand on this exact dredge to a captain on one of their off shore boats. I personally know 5 of the guys in this video the drama of greasing the spud was for film though.
lmao, I have spent plenty of time on the dredge New York- not on this particular nyc job but its very funny to see this dramatic piece. I’ve spent plenty of time sitting around out there and never once has it been close to this dramatic. that greasing the spuds scene is 100% staged. When was this filmed?
You can buy little AC units at Home Depot plug into generator. Gravel pits use them in scale houses, I live in desert. I don't think they know what real heat is. Where I live we had one day of rain in four months and was over a hundred for 60 days.
Husky Passion yeah rather odd tbh.... I run an overhead cab crane that’s like 40 years older than that machine and it still has a fan to keep its operator cool.
@@molyoxide164 they stated that inside the machine got up 150*F. The AC unit is above the engine that is creating a LOT of heat to begin with and heat rises. Couple that with the sun beating down and a fan inside the AC unit wouldn't have mattered. It's called thermal saturation.
Thermal saturation , that's what its called . Adding a fan to move some air at Thermal saturation is not going to lower the temperature, thats a givin . If that fan is blowing on a guy in a space suite hes still gonna be hot and not feel anything. But blowing on a guy sweatin his big hairy balls off will feel it because he's sweatin. Dont act like it wont do any good for the human. It just wont do any good to whoever is staring at a thermometer. Wet skin , air , come on. Dont be a Karen .
Dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend for the last weeks xD

The boss could’ve put on some gloves and helped to instead of sitting there and flapping his gums it’s not hard to have a good crew if you’re a team leader
@@Jordan-ut8wxThey'll never understand that. Most of these "team leaders" sit in an air conditioned office 90% of the day and barely know how to turn a wrench. I've had bosses and I've had leaders. The leaders sometimes get elbow to elbow with the rest of the crew and inspire them. This creates respect amongst the crew. It doesn't have to be all the time. Just show that they're willing to what they expect from everyone else to do. It's called leadership.
They tapped power off an existing circuit for that portable AC unit. That's what fried everything because that circuit wasn't designed for a 12A-16A AC unit. Poor cab design, NO HVAC. Engineers sit in an Air Conditioned office and not in the field. Other than that, bitch'n machine. 🤔
Harryvj , we ain't the world only part of it. our standard US measurement works fine. America went to the moon with it. oh metric is the reason a lot of fails happen in space. its a pain in the ass for Americans.
I live in New York, that heat wave lasted a couple days... they milked it...
They make cool pacs used for mascot or theme parks. Although limited duration the would cool the operator. Good to keep some on stand by.
That dredge would be awesome up in Nome Alaska

So electrical issues on the companies heavy equipment gets them more money ha ? 😅

And now the operator/leverman knows what it's like to be a deckhand that never gets AC. Or the guys in the engine room.

Get the guy a fan. Geez. It's not rocket science
maybe add a fan

When heat exceeds 100+ degrees no amount of air will matter. You're just blowing slightly less hot air into a scalding an oven.
@@pootmahgoots8482 Its in cab so A/C is an option.

use US measurement not that stupid metric.
