I lost my dad at the start of this week and this reminded me of him so much because he was a lot like a mix of Homer and Ned but primarily Homer and it hurts to listen to this. Thank you Pogo, I really mean it.
This is rly sweet and showcases how loving homer is of his family even though they dont showcase it in the show every episode. It also show how wonderful of a partner Marge is and that's beautiful. They are so sweet and loving and it's nice to see it
In the Golden Age Of The Simpons, seasons 1-9, the show was essentially a mixture of cartoon world situations and jokes with the heart of real world drama.
Jordan Peterson mentions Homer being redeemed because he genuinely loves his family. Although I always hated the Bart choking segments, even if it was meant to be funny.
PJMwarp the old episodes more frequently had a lot of genuine heart put into them, which seems to be what really makes the best cartoons is that they were made with love or a message or a purpose besides make money
+adam zarbon The episode that scene came from was from 12 years ago, so it's not really from the newer seasons (even if it switched from traditional animation to digital animation).
This song encapsulates why Pogo is such an amazing musician. He could have gone for comedy. He could have remixed the "Doh!" that we all associate with Homer, as well as several other things that encapsulate the show. But he didn't do that. Oh no, not our Nick. He found some of the most emotional and beautiful parts of the show, and used them to encapsulate the beautiful relationship between Homer and his family. He told an incredible story that gets so often overlooked. good on you Nick.
U couldnt be more right.. as a life long fan of the Simpsons and a fan of pogo this song is a work 9f art .. a great tribute to the show and a true mark of his craft by the amazing mind that is @pogo
I agree I mean like this is one of those songs that make you wanna cry or have good time i also like to respect the rhythm it's pretty nice. 10/10 if you ask me
My dad raised me and my brothers and did the best he could. Most nights he just would make us "beans and weanies" because that's all we could afford but we would sit down and watch the Simpson's while we ate and all 3 of us couldn't have asked for anything more. Love you pops. Early Simpson's always gets me feeling nostalgic.
@Slowbro They can make consistently good show if they still commit to how they run the Simpsons back then. The writer for the show used to consist of a large group of talented writers and comedians working together to make interesting episodes. Now it's only a smaller pool of writers and I can see many of them are exhausted.
It's important to remember, that for even a guy like Homer who seems like nothing but a screw-up, marge loves him so much. People need to be told they mean something, and no matter how little you think you mean, no matter how much you may think you screw up, there are so many people who see everything to love about you. There's so much tallent in ourselves we don't see.
They are, but you have tu build them. I can't say that everything is perfect, because nothing is. However, when you find the right person, and said person is willing to work everyday alongside with you, no matter what, then you'll have a beautiful relationship.
Goattacular seriously the Simpson’s used to be so damn good it’s unreal. I mean you casually put on an old episode and you might really learn something and get emotional.
Homer: "Bart was feeling mighty blue." Marge: "It's a shame what school can do." Apu: "For no reason, here's Apu." Homer / Marge / Apu: "Those were the daaaaaaaaaaaaays!" (canned applause) Announcer: "The Simpsons is filmed in front of a live studio audience." Marge: "Coming out of my 8-track..." Homer / Marge: "Michael Jackson still was black." Homer / Marge: "Those were the daaaaaaaaaaaaays!"

What else I adore about this is how genius the title is. "Homarge" sounds just like "homage", and that's exactly what it is. An homage to a great show.
9 is absolutely the cutoff of good simpsons and even that is a bit of an exaggeration, some people say 8 because of how muddy that time in Fox and hollywood in general was.
I’ve lost my girlfriend 8 years ago and listening to this reminded me so much of her she would always tell me I was amazing and beautiful.. just listening to Marge makes me want to cry and break down. Pogo if your reading this thank you for everything I’ve been watching and listening for the past 7 years now I will never ever for get the person who made me feel all types of emotions. I believe you will find love again. But it's a wonderful thing that you keep missing your girlfriend after all those years. This is something special and it makes you a wonderful person.
The shot with Homer looking up at the star filled sky on the hood of his car is powerful man. That’s the one where his mom leaves him again if I’m not mistaken. Earlier Simpsons had soul man. It was a hilarious show first and foremost but it had a beating heart underneath it all.
It was a perfect ending to the episode. It didn’t end with a laugh, but with a sob. That part where they show Homer waving, only to then stop once the van is way beyond the horizon, all while the orchestral score becomes more prominent? That gives me chills.
I seriously wish they would use this exact video for the finale scene of the series. It's just so perfect for that, bringing Homer and Marge back to their roots.
New homer and marge is like: The fat man did something comedic again and marge is mad now!!!!!!! Old homer and marge was like a couple who actually loved each-other even when times got rough.
Homer: A man that needs much more respect than he gets. He loves his family so much, he gave up his dream job just to be able to pay for all the child support for Maggie, and to be able to support the rest of his family. Every Simpsons fan thanks you. Thanks Pogo!

This really depresses me ‘cause I miss the old Simpsons, but I love Marge’s affection. A true mo .
@DeletedAccount Well, assuming that maybe he hadn't seen other previous Pogo remixes, a song featuring Simpsons clips might've seemed rather odd upon first glance, but when he watched it, he was moved by it. Making this song "oddly moving" in the kindest way possible.
@@love2laugh406 Haha I'm planning to share it with my new coworker, but right now work has been pretty busy, so I'll tell her as soon as we can take a breath. I'll try to come back to tell you ;)
Pogo is so great, it almost transcends reality; I think of these songs like remembering an old friend, a passing conversation, blinking awake from a dream, a scent of a lost relative's, a memory long forgotten...
it's amazing how this is directed at no-one, and yet it feels like it's directed at everyone. at everyone who's never heard caring words in critical movements in their life, or never told support when they needed it, or just the downtrodden who's never left any love in their life. even those who's had even an amount of suppressed emotion recently or in the long term, this song just...calls to those hurt feelings, it tells you it's okay to be upset; it's okay to cry. alot of us are sadly raised in environments where expressing vulnerability is equivalent to failure. but it's not. it being human, being alive. we all want to know we matter. and this song...it does that, without doing it.
Surrounded by so much negativity, these days Finding treasures like these really takes me away from all that mess. It's short, but the break is all I can ever hope for. Thank you, pogo
Imagine winning life. Honestly I think you win when you find someone that you're allowed to be yourself around and they love you for it. Even if you aren't good looking or smart or whatever else they still love you for you. Thats when you finally get to be happy
There are still challenges though, I hope you find that some day. If you focus on building a nice life for yourself, focus on chilling out and making yourself happy, making friends, the right person will come.
To be honest...seeing the cell animation it just gives off this vintage feeling, damn, It had so much life, but when the animation got cleaner and the budget got bigger, it became...lifeless and suffered from seasonal rot because of Fox The writers are burnt out Fox! To be honest seeing this and the other vaperwaves of old simpsons episodes it just makes me appreciate the simpsons artistry.. (And I've been binge watching it now I'm on season 22, holy hell it changed a lot)
It’s not the writers are burnt out at Fox it’s that they’re different writers from what the show had twenty years ago. It was so smart and articulate with what it wanted to say... it’s so hard to keep that going thirty years later. Let’s enjoy those early seasons and cherish the show for what it was.
I looked when Homer had more depth besides that fact that he is dumb and stupid. The old episodes made him seem like a real person. He had the relationship ship with bart always trying to be a good father to him. He had the dynamic with lisa always missing out on her stuff but only wants the best for her. Homer's dynamic with Maghue wasn't that clear but it had something to do with him not being there for her but always wanting to be. (This was a lot like the dynamic with lisa) Homer's relationship with Marge is that he feels like he is never good enough for her. Now remember this is not an essay just a brief overview of what made the Simpsons great before they ruined it.
I was miserable looking for a Marge. It wasnt until I realized I was someones Marge that I found true happiness. I am nothing without my sweet Homey. Lovely track as always.
This song kills me now, my dad just recently passed and homer reminds me of him so much especially right in the beginning. I fought with him, yet he put food on the table, loved ya and my mom. Thanks pogo😌❤️
Homer one of the best fictional characters why? because even though he is a fool, he remains an honest fool. Homer has what a lot of people on first impressions don't value an engrained moral compass which steers him to always put his wife and children before himself. This is why marge loves him despite his flaws and why we as an audience back in the day fell in love with him! Of course, the master of nostalgia strikes again & perfectly catches the essence of these classic Simpson episodes! Thank you again, Nick.
This makes me think of a future I want. One where I have a loving wife who can forgive my mistakes. One where I have a family that appreciates everything I do, even if I can only scrape by. One where I can be comfortable in my own skin day after day, even if the rest of the world tells me not to be. And if I fall, I get back up and keep trekking on, for the sake of that family. Pogo, if you weren't what a true artist is, there wouldn't be art in the world at all.
Listen man. Life is like a boxing match against an opponent much bigger than you. Everybody might say to you that it would be easier in the long run for you to toss in the towel. Don't listen to them. No matter how hard life hits you, keep getting up. You show them that you aren't someone that gives up. You'll earn your happiness, your perfect future by proving them wrong.
I haven’t genuinely cried in almost 3 years, but this got me, I cried, I’ve never felt more refreshed, man, it felt like Marge was talking to me, like she was telling me that I’m beautiful, I haven’t heard that from anyone but my mom(she doesn’t mean it, she just says that to make me despise her less) in years, thank you Pogo
Me too, it's so funny but so genuine. A relationship is so fragile yet so strong. And I like that with this in the Simpsons. Homer and marge. The older ones show something important and nice. I think wish that, and we wish something so true like this.
Yeah, a lot of other adult cartoons struggle with that kind of thing a lot for some reason, feels like the writers of most if them are too afraid to do anything thougtful or genuine without having a cynical or edgy joke poorly thrown in
Every Pogo song is magic and art. This guy has singlehanded made me hopeful in music and glad to be alive and have my ears blessed with such beautiful melodic art.
I really needed to see this video. It brought me into tears just remembering the times me and my family were together and loved each other. And when Homer has a soft spot for his children, it reminds me how much I was loved from both of my parents. I wish I could have that feeling of being loved again. Time goes by so fast...

This is rly sweet and showcases how loving homer is of his family even though they dont showcase it in the show every episode. It also show how wonderful of a partner Marge is and that's beautiful. They are so sweet and loving and it's nice to see it
They used to. Many, maaaaany seasons ago.
In the Golden Age Of The Simpons, seasons 1-9, the show was essentially a mixture of cartoon world situations and jokes with the heart of real world drama.
Another wholesome post from Bearkock
SPOT ON comment.
Jordan Peterson mentions Homer being redeemed because he genuinely loves his family. Although I always hated the Bart choking segments, even if it was meant to be funny.
It's telling that Pogo hasn't used scenes from the newer seasons. The old episodes were the best.
PJMwarp the old episodes more frequently had a lot of genuine heart put into them, which seems to be what really makes the best cartoons is that they were made with love or a message or a purpose besides make money
Krumping Marge would like a word with you... Though I agree the older seasons were best, outside of a few weird little duds in the first two seasons.
And stories too! I think they were trying to be like Family Guy.
And then they bumped into the Griffins!
+adam zarbon
The episode that scene came from was from 12 years ago, so it's not really from the newer seasons (even if it switched from traditional animation to digital animation).

*_I'm not crying... Shut up, don't look at me._*

Ah yes, back when the simpsons were actual characters, with emotional moments and growth.
Slowbro Or they could have just stopped making the show...while it was still original.
@Slowbro They can make consistently good show if they still commit to how they run the Simpsons back then. The writer for the show used to consist of a large group of talented writers and comedians working together to make interesting episodes. Now it's only a smaller pool of writers and I can see many of them are exhausted.
Still do
@@GigawingsVideo They're better at being serious than they are at being funny.
It's important to remember, that for even a guy like Homer who seems like nothing but a screw-up, marge loves him so much. Im so sorry
The shot with Homer looking up at the star filled sky on the hood of his car is powerful man. That’s the one where his mom leaves him again if I’m not mistaken. Earlier Simpsons had soul man. It was a hilarious show first and foremost but it had a beating heart underneath it all.
I’m not a very emotional person, but that episode tears my insides out.
It's just so perfect for that, bringing Homer and Marge back to their roots.

it's amazing how this is directed at no-one, and yet it feels like it's directed at everyone. at everyone who's never heard caring words in critical movements in their life, or never told support when they needed it, or just the downtrodden who's never left any love in their life.
even those who's had even an amount of suppressed emotion recently or in the long term, this song just...calls to those hurt feelings, it tells you it's okay to be upset; it's okay to cry. alot of us are sadly raised in environments where expressing vulnerability is equivalent to failure. but it's not. it being human, being alive.
we all want to know we matter. and this song...it does that, without doing it.

To be honest...seeing the cell animation it just gives off this vintage feeling, damn, It had so much life, but when the animation got cleaner and the budget got bigger, it became...lifeless and suffered from seasonal rot because of Fox
The writers are burnt out Fox!
To be honest seeing this and the other vaperwaves of old simpsons episodes it just makes me appreciate the simpsons artistry..
(And I've been binge watching it now I'm on season 22, holy hell it changed a lot)
dsggsgaegse

Yes one like this! That emphasizes Frys love for Leela and her learning to love him back
More soul in this 3 minute music video than the last 20 seasons of the Simpsons.
Today is the 5 year anniversary since this was uploaded. I remember finding this in late 2020 and playing it weekly, I would cry listening to this due to just memories and at the time splitting with my ex. In that time though, it's become a comfort song for my mental playlist and it will always have a place in my heart and mind for any occasion in the moment. Doing better now and I'm still friends with her till this day, plus I have become closer to my friends I play with or talk to almost daily as well as found some new friends, found a balance in my mind and heart. Couldn't ask for anything more truth be told but thank you, Pogo, for making this jam. :)
