    I think people are going to either love or hate this new Escalade. I love it! For me this makes it a lot more difficult to just automatically say I'd take a Range Rover over an Escalade.

    Hey bud...its me. Thanks for watching and the kind note. It depends if the tint is streaky inside the tint (or behind the tint) or its simple streaky from lack of proper clean techniques. Hard to say from a description. Clean tinted window with ammonia-free glass cleaner. Try invisible glass or plexus and use a short hair microfiber towel. Then wipe again with a dry microfiber towel to ensure no streaks. Thx for watching!

    The new Cadillacs coming out are without a doubt amazing with the styling.
    However, they will always have a large portion of their sales hurt as long as they keep installing OnStar systems.
    Nobody wants OnStar systems on their car. It is "their car" and they don't want someone behind a computer taking control over their property.
    Security... there is something that has been around for a long time that works called LoJack. The individual can track their car and have it secured if anyone takes it. OnStar is an invasion of privacy and not a security feature.

    VERY funny you mention this! Larry and I left the event space (we shot this before the reveal) went to his office and recorded his podcast. In that podcast I mention the very same thing. I would MUCH prefer the shifter being on the console rather than the column. Call me weird, but it reminds me of my mother's 1974 Buick . . .

    I love the new Escalade , especially the "Glavano Finish", but there's few things here & there , mainly :
    - The Lack of Panoramic Roof .
    - The stupid Plastic Column Shifter .
    - The Rear Bumper & the Lack of the Dual Exhausts (Last Platinum had them) .
    Overall , I like it a lot .
    As always , Great Video M .

    I think 2015 may be the last year for the big luxury vehicle. This Escalade is a handsome ride with awesome technology. BTW... I love OnStar and have the personal experience with it to say so. Whether it was getting an ambulance to me when I didn't know my exact location or doing the same for accidents I reported. Its a reason to go GM! Back to the vehicle; I have a 2009 Escalade now, and this wiill probably be the replacement. What a beauty. It's amazing to me that they can get this mileage and performance from such a large vehicle. OK, so it isn't a commuter vehicle but what a. way to head up to snow country!

    Actually it works quite well in a number of larger cars. I took a Challenger with a 5.7 HEMI V8 on a LONG road trip did almost 30 MPG . . . remember that car has almost 370 HP and weighs 4,500 pounds . . .

    If you look at overall BRAND sales, Cadillac WAY outsells Land Rover. Cadillac September 2013 sales: 13,828; 2013 YTD Cadillac Sales: 157,503. Land Rover September 2013 sales: 3,387; 2013 YTD Land Rover Sales: 35.359. Now granted, this is for both brands as a whole and not the individual model. But if I were beting man, I would say the Escalade because it comes in at a lower price point and has the GM marketing machine behind it.

    Even though those are 22's, the wheels look small b/c of the huge gaps. Maybe the suspension should be lowered a little to make it fill out just a bit more.

    • @ivemer9541
      @ivemer9541 10 років тому

      22's fits best on this suv...
      besides the gap you speak of comes in handy when driving over big humps and potholes.. unless you like to run you rims against the fenders and already damage a 90k suv =\

    Make sure to sell your Cadillac before the warranty expires or prepare to take it up the a$$! Bought my '08 EXT from a private owner intentionally with the factory warranty still in place. Went to the local dealership here in Phoenix (Sounds much like Mund), and was promised that everything looks good prior to the "time" portion of the manufacturers warranty expiring. Approximately 5,000 miles later I just took it in to the new dealership ran by the same technicians and service advisors and received a repair estimate of almost $6,000 for miscellaneous drive train issues. GM won't budge with the exception of one item, and a generous offer of 10% off. Maybe the gist of the story is don't buy a Cadillac if you can't afford $5k - $10k repairs??

    the only thing I don't like so far is the lower valance of the front bumper. I know the extra "depth" is for aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, but this is the largest I've seen from GM thus far, and I think it elongates the front fascia's height too much. Perhaps an active valance, like on the new Porsche 911, would be better

    I also agree that it is much more refined-looking. The first generation was VERY bulbous and was an honest to god gas-guzzler. It probably weighed around 6000lbs. It looks like it has lost tons of weight, and the materials and features seem more upscale then ever before. It looks as though you may actually get what you pay for from a General Motors vehicle with this new Cadillac.

    Having driven a 2010 GMC Denali extensively, I can confidently say I would not prefer to have a shifter on the console. It's a completely subjective thing, but the shift lever on the steering rack has a more tough, mechanical feel, as opposed to the plastic-y feeling you get from shifting a console shifter into gear. There's something about console shifters in big SUV's that never felt right to me.

    I like it, and that is hard for me to say the way that General Motors has been in the recent past. There is one brand of car I could mistake it for at night, and that is a Volvo. The taillights make it look like a big ass Volvo. I could get used to it. I also like that the engine will switch between 4 and 8 cylinders. I hope that it can at least achieve 24 highway -- that would be a feat.

    active fuel management seems like such a gimmick. yes turning off cylinders will decrease the rate at which fuel is consumed but the weight of the vehicle is a constant and the amount of effort required to make it move is variable depending on road conditions and grade percentage, so less horsepower less torque more cylinder wear and resistance from the decommissioned cylinders that are still attached to the crank, doesn't seem like it will save any gas.

  • @thebigdoghimself

    Great video, Truck is ok. Is it just me or is Cadillac not understanding true luxury? When you look at a European high end vehicle its refined and very appealing. When I look at a new Cadillac, I do not picture my wife and I getting out and going to an event downtown. Instead I picture some rapper climbing out of it. I look at the designs coming from Cadillac and to me it screams "Ghetto" or new money.. Its unfortunate that Lincoln has not kept up their Navigator line. They have pretty much fallen to the wayside by failing to to anything spectacular since the Navigator was introduced 14-15 years ago.

      John, I think you answered your own question, this is true luxury, that's why there is No Lincoln per say any more, so yes it is just you. I remember the first BMW that I bought and I didn't notice until I got home that the window sticker said leather-like interior HUH! Go to the grammys or any major event with affluent people 20 Escalades to one european or japense luxury suv.

    • @thebigdoghimself
      @thebigdoghimself 10 років тому +1

      No I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Range Rover still produces an outstanding vehicle without requiring as much flash. Secondly there are still many SUV's from the likes of BMW and Mercedes (and others) that are elegant and sophisticated. The use of man made leather is not only limited from BMW. In fact on our boat everything is made from ultra leather which is man made. This is done for durability more than anything else (supposedly it stays cooler as well but I don't think so).
