I’ve noticed 12/8 is popular with bands like soad, pantera, tool, etc. Pneuma by Tool has a 33/14 time signature; it’s tough to keep up with but it’s got a rhythm you won’t hear anywhere else
Tragically hip used to play free shows as they passed through cities all over Canada, I lived in the middle.... :) What a treat on random summer nights!
@@mikeandike2021 yeah, the usage of false cords did a lot of damage just so he could sound incredibly superhuman. i really enjoy the old records, the self-titled and toxicity albums, but it also makes me sad to think he'll never sound like this again, either from the damage, or just his will NOT to lose his voice
Love to Armenia and my Armenian friends. It's just such a shame I discovered Serj and System of a Down so late in life. But being 55 and loving this band? Nothing wrong with that!!!
After all these years I feel like I understand the rhythms and their cultural significance on a different level after watching the breakdown in this. Absolutely amazing
Saw them back in early 2000s at Big Day Out in New Zealand. Insane, they got pulled after a song or two as the crowd was so intense someone was gonna get hurt. They came back after the organisers managed to calm everyone down. Favourite live show ever, up there with Shihad at the Canterbury University Ballroom.
They are loving preforming for their people and are so happy to be in their homeland it makes me smile knowing it was all for free. SOAD have beautiful hearts
I guess this has been said thousand times, but this rhythm and singing, is totally different than other us or England groups, the influence of their culture is really strong 💪🏽
Pero que hermoso concierto muy lindo ver a un gran grupo en su país de origen que a pasado por muchas desgracias mis respetos para el pueblo armenio que aún lucha con sus carencias

@@joshlewis575 you really believe it's happening again?? Say halloween was awful and Christmas looks terrible. What's to come for any crowded bar or concert..??

Wow; thats a proper explanation. Thx a lot. By the way, thats why i love their songs. I never heard armenian songs, but i always noticed these different styles mixed up that suggested been from armenia (don't know why, maybe because the soad history / biography tells us their descendence); anyway, their songs are huge because of that. Thx again.
I still think this little drum rhythm is the most recognizable in any song ever.

he never lost his voice, he's just getting older... when "Toxicity" came out, Serj was 34 and he was 48 on this show, it makes a difference.
His voice still sounds amazing but back then he used his lower and mid range flase cord improperly so he doesn't use distortion anymore
I’m saying bro. If this was the product that I saw live I would absolutely stoked
Its a miracle he still sounds so good at his age. Many artists really lose their voice as they age, he barely sounds any different.
