I usually just use test spray to test my smoke alarms, but a fog machine works as well (I have 2 since I do an annual Halloween display every year). Would be cool to see more videos on that security system, though I understand if that’s not possible. Was always curious as to what siren that was in the basement, it’s the same one I have on my room system.
I enjoyed the video, just a word of advice if you can try using a hair dryer or a heat gun to test the heat detectors also heat detectors have a 15 year life span according to the NFPA.
Nice walkthrough! Just a quick safety tip for next time, use a stick lighter for testing heat detectors cuz if you leave one of those little Bic lighters on for too long you'll burn yourself.
@@thomaswilkins8168 Most hair dryers are not hot enough to set off heat detectors as they are usually set to activate at 60-70°C. There is something similar called a heat gun which is just like a hair dryer, but the forced air is a lot hotter.
I thought it was cool how you used a fog machine to set off your smoke alarms. I’m too afraid to do that in my house. Although I do have smoke spray cans I use instead on them. I have one of those COPE-IC’s outside my laundry room that goes off all the time along with the others in my house
So I have a question. One of my alarms near the bathroom recently started going off from the shower steam I'm guessing. It's not all the time. And it just started, it didnt do it last year at all when I moved in. Seems strange to me, is it?
@@FireAlarmDude5967 not to be that guy but i think photoelectric units would go off more since the point of photoelectric alarms is to detect smoke that is visible and thick, and steam is pretty similar to that specific concept
Awesome mix of tests! I really like the Ademco code 3, for fire. Same with the other interior sounder, which I like more.
Is optic also a type of smoke alarm?

My house has First Alert slim smoke detectors and they’re standalone. My house is built in 1982 and doesn’t have interconnected devices.
Just tested my smoke detectors earlier today before this video came out.

Or you could just use a hair dryer

2:25 My state (ND) only recently started requiring heat alarms in the garage. My house is from 2012 and there are no alarms in the garage.
Good requirement
@@FireAlarmDude5967I want to know how to connect a first alert smoke alarm to commercial fire alarm demonstration systems
Awesome video! How do you make sure the Fire Department doesn't respond to your house with all of this?
Thanks. Fire departments are not summoned by residential smokes
I use the hairdryer to test the heat alarms.
How many hardwired detectors do you have in your house

I have a photoelectric smoke alarm, is it better than ienisation
For some applications yes
Verisure tests it👍👍👍

Perhaps it’s just aging. Maybe consider replacing with a photoelectric unit

@@isleyeastreadyA200 steam is hardly dense enough to activate a photo smoke. Ion smokes detect particles, which cooking smoke and steam are
@@FireAlarmDude5967 fair enough, maybe ive seen too many reviews on bad photoelectric alarms going off to shower steam 💀
How many smoke alarm? 😊
Is your security system monitored
Nope
Jack Mcgee
Nice
Cool
“Fire”
Is what the smoke alarms say I think it is interesting
Has te fire department ever show up at your house? Might be that neighbors call them with all those sirens.
They have never
How often do you test your alarms?
Usually yearly like this
where did you get the fog machine?
Found it at a local dump
Hi!! How can I get in touch with you for a potential collaboration? Thank you.
You can send me an email at firealarmdude5967@gmail.com
@@FireAlarmDude5967 Thank you so much! Will do now.
Can I do a system request
Sure but it may not be granted
A part of the system is old and a part of the system is new.
