How did it go? My dog is getting neuter next week and I'm anxious too.
@@SonicaLuda it went well! After surgery coming home she didn’t want to eat or drink, they said that would be normal. I fed her some ice cubes to keep her hydrated. She threw up as soon as she got home, they said she might would. I ended up feeding her half a cup of food an hour after getting home and she threw it up a few hours later. She also didn’t poop for 2 days, but almost 2 weeks out and she’s back to normal. I’ve tried keeping her calm and less jumpy, but now it’s been hard. She gets her staples out next week. @@kelseydew hi! i just got my baby spayed yesterday and she hasn’t been wanting to eat or drink from her bowls. we fed her an egg this morning and she ate it so she was able to take her pain meds!!! she also will only drink water if it’s squirted into her mouth (lol weirdo). do you have any other tips that helped you get yours through this tough time? she hasn’t pooped or puked, which is good i think, and she goes pee. she just seems to be embarrassed and scared of the cone 🥺 i’m so glad your baby is well! ❤️
@@macywisilosky3856 hey Macy!! ❤️ my dog was able to eat/drink normal day after surgery. So for that I have no advice 😞 Maybe try hand feeding her! If you are in the same room with your dog she doesn’t have to wear the cone unless she’s showing interest in her staples/incision, but if you are leaving her more than 5 minutes I recommend putting it back on her! Mine had no interest in hers thank goodness! Just try keeping her calm, I had to put her toys in another room and leash walks around the yard and just shorter walks in general! My dog finally pooped Friday after surgery (her surgery was Wednesday) I was super worried she wasn’t pooping. She is a month out now and she’s completely back to normal, I was hoping this would calm her down overall (not sure if that’s a myth) I’ve noticed she’s been more clingy towards me though. But best of luck to your baby’s recovery and good luck to you!! I was a nervous wreck the first few days 😅

my chocolate lab just got spayed and the surgery went wrong. not only was the dr an idiot and didnt say anything they left her overnight bleeding out. she was bleeding out all the way until I transfered her 1 hour away to a emergency hospital. there her intestines fell out and she had another surgery. she had to stay 24hrs and we are going to get her today. please send prayers and good vibes because my baby needs it ... I can't live without her 😢

I REALLY appreciate this video! My new puppy is 6 months and was nurtured today. We had to have this done at the shelter where we adopted him. I would’ve preferred our personal veterinarian to do this! Unfortunately, they didn’t give me much information and I’m slightly stressed to say the least. When we adopted him 2 weeks ago he was sick and malnourished. They don’t seem like they take very good care of the animals. I’m happy to report he’s gained 4 pounds and is no longer sick and on antibiotics. Thank you for the great information!!
Mine was neutered 2 days ago. The thing I found funny was they asked if we wanted to get him tattooed. I declined. It's pretty apparent his powdered donuts are gone.

@@allieatchison4828 The procedure went well. Our BT was miserable in the standard plastic cone though. I’d advise you to spring for one of the inflatable comfort cones instead.

I know this old post. May 28/24 my mini dachshund at 1 week she is 10 pounds. Second night was her worst and I had gave pain meds only allowed 6 mg dermaxx not from this vet I’m in another state. Anyway. I just comforted her as much as I could. Also I purchased a surgery suit. She didn’t need the cone but every dog is differnt. I’m so happy we are a week out she’s feeling better and hard to keep up with her wanting to play.

Thanks for doing this video. It was very informative and I wish I saw it after my puppy got fixed. He got neutered 2 weeks ago and we put a cone on him and limited his activities . So yesterday I took him in to get stitches removed and found out he removed his on his own. My vet had 3 layers sutured and two healed but one didn't and she had to re-stitch one layer. Wow I guess we should have seen this before! Anyway now it's another two weeks of the cone (a larger1 this time ) and all the fun the poor guy has to deal with the cone. So again thank you for the video!
Did your god pee the day after being neutered. My 1 year old husky got neutered yesterday but till right now he hasn’t peed. And he has drinked plenty of water. I don’t know if it’s normal or I should be really worried 🙁

I heard that you had to keep your spayed dog in the kennel all day except for going potty and that’s it, for about 10 days, then you’re allowed to walk your dog on short walks but then keep them kenneled afterwards until the 14th day, then they don’t have to be kenneled anymore. Is this true?
We adopted a dog last month and today she’s getting spayed. She has bad separation anxiety and I’m worried she’ll be scratching up the kennel and freaking out to the point it will ruin her incisions instead. I can keep her on my bed and she will be fine if that’s an option. If not, hey maybe in those 14 days she’ll be completely kennel trained I guess.

My dog got neutered today and he refuses to keep the cone on and keeps crying. So I had to make do and put a towel around his area so he doesn’t lick it and took off the collar. Question I got my 6 month old puppy fix and he have been leaking this creaming looking fluid from his second incision, because only one testicle drop it’s been 3 days after his surgery he is still eating good drinking water, peeing and pooping normal I just worry very much. I called the veterinarian and they say it was OK. Used to keep eye on it and clean it as long as no bleeding. He’s gonna be fine but I believe this shouldn’t be happening.😅
My female lab is on the 2nd day of being spayed and she’s acting normal and trying to run around and jump off my bed I live but she’s driving me crazy I don’t want her to open the stitches up.

Don't do anything drastic! I felt like immediately taking my Bailey's cone off after surgery. I'm glad I did some research and didn't do that. I gave her plenty of attention and scratches, rubbs on her face. She is recovering well now.

@@g35tho11 A few reasons. He could get rowdy with other dogs trying to hump/mark and I didn’t want him to get hurt. Also I never planned on breeding him since he wasn’t the best genetically health wise and I just generally don’t support BB. Since I knew he would never breed, why force him to deal with urges that would purposefully never be fulfilled. Ive also had a dog in the past that wasn’t neutered and he literally broke out of our fence multiple times after multiple reinforcements to see the females in heat in our neighborhood.. We live by a busy road and thankfully he wasn’t hit by any cars that we know of but I didn’t want that for my dog I have now. After his neuter he was groggy from anesthesia then the next day , We literally had to restrain him in a playpen because he wanted to run around outside , jump on beds and play on his A ramp. He’s doing great now .. fully healed and his temperament is much calmer with us, other dogs, and the cat. I’m glad I didn’t listen to other people who told me not to. He’s a lot happier too since his mind isn’t on humping anything in sight and marking 24/7
@@daijaaki got my dog neutered..the humping definitely stoped but he still randomly start running full speed then try to leap on me and attempts to bite my hands .. I take him to play to the park he’s running etc. then he turns around and goes for my hands like wtf I just turned to using a prong collar works great while he has it on but once off he don’t care ..

he ended up doing great , me not so much 😂 seeing him zombie like for a week broke my heart 😭 i had to keep reminding myself his whining was normal and as long as he took his medication he wasnt in any pain so that helped put me at ease for the most part 🥹

Maybe put her meds in something that she like to eat if she still not eating call your vet and see what's wrong.

Yes my guy got neutered last week! He didn’t move for the first three days and was very low in energy. He’s normal now and we get the stitches out on Wednesday !!

Spay/neuter (pretty words for “castration”) is a horrible mutilation that leaves animals permanently suffering from hormone deficiency. Hormone deficiency can cause symptoms that may not be visible to humans but make the animals suffer horribly. Castration negatively affects physical and psychological health. Myasthenia Gravis; muscle weakness
Urinary incontinence
Altered moods leading to nervousness, separation anxiety, and digestive disorders
Vaginal perivulvar dermatitis and recessed vulva
Loss of testosterone; sex and growth hormone
Narrowing of the chest resulting in respiratory disorders
Failure to extrude the penis
Cancer
Loss of testosterone is directly correlated to: heart disease and myocardial infarction, strokes and cardiovascular disease, senile dementia, osteoporosis and hip fracture.
Low estrogen levels are associated with: hot flashes, anxiety, vaginal dryness, mood swings, osteoporosis, artherosclerosis, headaches / migraines, vaginal infection, fatigue, joint pain, dry skin, thinning tissues, rapid heartbeat, bloating, back pain, depression, panic attacks and memory lapses.
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) policy statement says: “… potential health problems associated with spaying and neutering have also been identified, including an increased risk of prostatic cancer in males; increased risks of bone cancer and hip dysplasia in large-breed dogs associated with sterilization before maturity; and increased incidences of obesity, diabetes, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, and hypothyroidism.”

The alternatives to castration are: vasectomy, tubal ligation and “ovary sparing spay” (OSS) (the removal of only the uterus). I don’t see any reason to sterilize males. Males don’t get pregnant, but if someone is not convinced of that, there is vasectomy. I don’t advocate tubal ligation because most veterinarians don’t know how to do it, and as a result, cats and dogs can still get pregnant due to badly performed procedures. Also, it leaves the uterus and the risk of pyometra and uterine cancer. I prefer ovary-sparing spay (OSS).
Sometimes people have to neuter due to cancer. So how about considering that before posting things like this.
@@KadanzaD Testicular cancer is very rare, and so is ovarian cancer. Neutering and spaying actually increases the risk of cancer.
