My Father, Robert S. White wrote this song and my Uncle is drummer David Ballinger!
My husband told me that he had looked the song up on youtube and had several hits, I didn't believe him! Mr. Rubik is my favorite song of the ones he did write for the Barron Knights, I've been listening to it on a 45 since I was just a tiny thing!

I too have been listening to it for a while... over 30 years (I was a finalist in the first UK Cube & Revenge championships). I didn't even know the Barron Knights had done anything else! It's a great song and ought to be heard more, especially given the revival in speedcubing over the last few years. If your father's still around, do tell him his work from the early 1980s still has global fans.
Are they still alive? Please tell me they are!

Fascinating, this song came out when I was 5. I must have seen it on Top of the Pops or something. I always remembered the song, but I had a very hazy memory of it. The actual song sounds very much like the Buggles, but in my memory it sounded more like the Village People's "In the Navy". In my memory, the word "Rubik" was like an echo that kept going in the background while they sing "you can sail the seven seas"… LOL!

@Sledge101 Nah that's not it. It defifnitely had the frase "don't blame me, I only invented the cube" in the song. In the video clip there were Rubiks Cubes that went accross the screen. It was on the old Australian music show called Sounds Unlimited.
