  • A Run-Through Of How To Remove The Front Door Card On A Volkswagen Transporter T5, Caravelle & California.
We take these door cards off an awful lot so it's second nature to us but we looked on UA-cam and there was no guide for people to follow. We've taken it at a slow pace so you can stop / start where you need to so you can catch up.
This process is suitable for most VW Transporter T5s, Caravelles & Californias from the 2010 Face-Lift.

Two important notes for removing the door card from a CARAVELLE (and therefore I think a CALIFORNIA too):
    1. To get to the door handle screws, you need to remove the top trim completely. It's the panel that runs forwards from the interior door handle. To remove it, prise it gently UPWARDS; there are 10 clips holding it in place. You can then very easily get to the electric window panel connections as the window controller comes off with this panel.
    2. The screw in the centre of the door is hidden behind the rubber trim in the door pocket. To get to the screw, prise the EDGE of the rubber away with your fingers and work your fingers along the edge to the front of the pocket. The screw's (roughly) in the corner of this pocket.
Otherwise, an excellent instructional video, thanks!

Just found this video really useful for my 2004 T5. Got the door cards off no problem and new wing mirrors fitted a treat. Shame you didn't show putting the door cards back on, as I forgot how the top lip went back on over the sill... managed it in the end....Cheers!

My deadlock/alarm led has disappeared probably inside the door trim can (trendline van) can I just take the top dark section or do I have to take off the whole trim to sort it

Remove and replace tip: If you scrape any steel screwdriver over a strong magnet a few times, then steel screws magically stick to it, making job quicker and easier.
