      You are welcome! It’s a great tent if you are happy with not having a freestanding tent. I’m really impressed with how strong it is. I’ve never used a ground sheet and it was fine in a hailstorm.

    Great review - good to see a review from someone who has experience with the gear.
    There are always pros and cons. As long as we can live with the cons, it's all good!

    Great review Kate a nice balance of pros and cons. I never thought of the impact of mud etc with rainbow doors, great shout out. I loved the pitching method which will probably work with most trekking pole tents so keen to try that out on my tent.

      @@KateGrarock That's the way to do it. Seems like the biggest challenge for teachers, and for people trying to provide information on you tube, is putting themselves in the shoes of people who don't know the material and giving that audience the information that they want and need. I think that's a lot harder than just showing off all you know. In my opinion, you succeeded really well. I hope you keep making quality videos like this. And yeah, the duplex is a cool tent.

    Hi Kate - been hanging out for this review! I have the poor-man's version (Lanshan 2 at 1.1kg, which I have seam-sealed), and hope to use it in the actual bush (not my backyard!) in the next couple of weeks. I'll definitely use your pitching method though! Love the double doors. Looking forward to seeing your adventures in your tent soon!

    Great video!! I finally pulled the trigger and got mine the other week before watching the video! I got stung with the import tax (about $250 on top of the tent!) definitely should have got one while the conversion was better!

    Nice review of the Duplex, Kate. I'm sure it will give you years of great service out on your adventures. I'm loving my Zpacks Altaplex and and still haven't got around to doing a review of it yet but definitely will soon. I haven't tried pitching mine with rocks yet either but looks like you got a great pitch with yours using that method on that rocky platform. Thanks for the run through.

    Top and honest review Kate. Just like we’ve come to expect. Is there one thing that would make you choose this tent over the Durston tent?

    • @KateGrarock
      @KateGrarock  2 роки тому +1

      Cheers mate. I’d say weight would be the biggest winner for this tent over Durston. I’m so interested to see the new model they are making in this fabric. Would love to get my hands on one.

  • @Gearmaniack
    @Gearmaniack Рік тому

    How does the single wall go for Aussie conditions? I'm looking at the Durston xmid pro 1 but a bit concerned about condensation in Qld climate.

    • @KateGrarock
      @KateGrarock  Рік тому

      I used it in the Kimberly once and I used it on hot wet days on south coast NSW. I find it works great. You can open the doors right up and /or pitch it higher or lower so the wind can help circulate and moist air. It’s also kinda fine even if you did get a heap of condensation in it as it would run into the mesh that drips outside. Can’t remember how the durston tent is set up and if the condensation would simply drip outside, if it did occur.

  • @camgrice

    I might have missed it in both your videos, curious why you went the Duplex over the Durston X-Mid.

    • @KateGrarock
      @KateGrarock  2 роки тому +1

      Mostly due to the fabric and weight of the duplex. I’m super excited to see the durston in this fabric.

    Great video, The bathtub floor is 8 inches deep not eight centimeters, You measured 16 cm should be about 20.32 cm.

    why you not include the weight of stakes and 2 Poles ? Imagine now the brands starting selling sleeping bags super lightweight at 100gr, but we need buy separately the feathers...by the way...sometimes i hiking with a down jacket, i can always at night fill the sleeping bag with the feathers of my jacket. Sorry, it's not your fault, it's a company fault, in my country this advertising type is crime.

    • @KateGrarock
      @KateGrarock  Рік тому +1

      I carry and use the poles for hiking with. I’d carry these even without the tent. I go into great detail about the weight of the tent the bag and the stakes.
