I was a Boeing 747 and Airbus 330-300 Captain with Saudia for 25 years. We use to carry return fuel from Jeddah ( cheaper then Dubai). Perhaps at the last minutes the weather condition either at destination or at the alternate airport required a different and much further alternate airport requiring more fuel to be added. Perhaps a much longer delay would have taken place and going to Riyadh was a better decision. On time departure was a big deal with Saudia, so perhaps they wanted to avoid a delay out of Dubai. Also there were times in Dubai where gate availability was an issue. Perhaps the gate had to be vacated for another airplane waiting. In any case, safety was never compromised and you made it to destination in one piece. By the way, my 25 years at Saudia were among my best years as a pilot. I have a lot of respect for this airline.
Hey Pierre I👋 , woow thank you so much for all that great information that you gave us here , sometimes we as passengers don’t know about what’s going on behind every decision that the airline makes , that’s what thought as well that the fuel was cheaper in saudi than dubai , thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience😊😊
Captain, I had a chance to fly in their B747 from Dhahran to Bombay and back (SV 342/343) numerous times in 1980s and they were a premier airlines before Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways surged ahead. Thanks for the explanation on the refueling
Capt. Mercier. Time goes by fast, I remember back in 2000 you were called as an observer captain on my simulator final checkride as a first officer, that was the 1st. Time I ever met you, then I flew a couple of flight with you in the line. I retired early from Saudia, my last position was a line captain on a B777. Now I am living in Houston Texas. You were very nice captain and so professional.
In addition to my last comment, a last minute change requiring additional fuel was a problem in Dubai due to a possible shortage of fuel trucks. Underground refueling was not available at all gates in Dubai and even for that reason a fuel pump truck is still required for underground fuel systems.
I think fuel is cheaper in Riyadh !! or some quick repairs , maintenance needed or food supplies ! But sometimes thy will do that for a sudden VIP passengers and urgency circumstances!
Loved this video, I do believe Saudia is up there with Etihad and even Emirates their service was amazing and good meals as well and crew was fantastic when i flew them LHR-JED-CAI and back in 2019! If you can please try out EgyptAir they're quite good and have improved imo
Hey 👋 thank you for your nice comment ! Their service is really good and they are improving so much 😀😀, I will for sure try egypt air that’s in my plans , take care and thanks for watching
I think fuel is cheaper in Riyadh !! or some quick repairs , maintenance needed or food supplies ! But lets go to this odd question , Did you see any one got out of the plain or boarded in !? if so that explain it all .
Hey 👋. That’s true the fue it is cheaper in Riyadh They just refueled the aircraft and only the flight dispatcher enter the aircraft , no passengers disembarked or entered the aircraft , thanks for watching 😊
Refueling is always expensive in a different location, SV being a very good airliner would have avoided this which has caused discomfort for the passengers for connecting flights,SV could have arranged an alternate flight for those passengers at least …
Hey 👋 that’s was the reason they gave us that they needed to refuel in Riyadh I think they did not want to do it in dubai , but no clear reason at all , thanks for watching 😀
I am really surprised. I came yesterday from Dubai to Jeddah on the same type of plane. The plane did not stop in Riyadh to refuel, but landed at its final destination in Jeddah.
Hey 👋 do you like that sound or not getting used to it ? I used to live near the airport as well and every minute the sound of an aircraft 🤣🤣 , thanks for watching

When it comes to drinking hot beverages on airlines it is said the water used is tap water of flight and unfit. Pasting info from a 2019 article on Thrillist "Dr. Charles Platkin, PhD and executive director of the Hunter College NYC Food Policy Center, is one expert giving airplane water major side-eye. According to findings from his 2018 survey on airline food, the doc says “it’s probably best to avoid drinking water from the tap on a plane, which also means staying away from coffee and tea” because “there are a couple of reliable researchers who believe there may be harmful bacteria in airline water.” "
I too had faced such a situation when I am travelling on Gulfair to Bahrain from Srilanka, the flight was diverted to trivandrum for refuelling at the last minute without any announcement. It was much more disappointment for almost all the passengers as it was a night flight. I personally felt so hard bcz I travelled with my 1 year toddler. The flight was delayed 1 hour for landing.
The only time I traveled with Gulf air was in 2022 to make Paris - Dubai with a stopover in Bahrain, the plane was supposed to leave at 10:30 a.m. from Paris, it left at 12:30 p.m., most of the passengers were angry because we almost missed the second flight, but luckily I just had to run to the gate so I could catch the second flight. The worst thing is that at the time of takeoff, no air conditioning was on. It must have been 35°C on the plane. And by the time I got back to Paris, the plane wasn't even able to land properly. When the plane landed, it left the ground not even 3 seconds after hitting it. Here is my little experience with Gulf Air.
Maybe,Saudia wants passengers to view Riyadh as well as Refuelling. Its great if there's time but suppose they have inter connect flight or imp meeting?
@@NeerajGaming2010 he recorded this vid on march. he posted it now. he will post gulf air don wry.he might have some plans lets just wait and see, i want him to go on oman air once.

There’s no NEO in Saudia’s fleet.
Nice video!! By the aspect of the engines, I'd say it's a regular A320, not a neo. The cabin and the boarding music look stunning! 🤩
Thank you I appreciated your comment 😀😀, it was actually a A320 neo that’s what they said in the safety cards 🤣🤣 , thanks for watching

They should refuel in Dubai
If I was in this flight I would chose to leave the aircraft..!

Use capital God instead of god!
Disgraceful
By the way Saudia waste lot of money by deploying wide body aircrafts especially the 777 to Dubai despite low demand for Saudia on that route.
