@@TK422 Lego started adding extra pieces about in 2002 to 2005 because Mega Blocks added shit tons of extra pieces and people started buying Mega blocks more than Legos. In truth I recommend non Lego stuff because Lego's are crappier than other companies. If you live near an Ace Hardware check out their Nano block section.
My son has some mega locks and he loves them. As he gets older I’ll get him some of the smaller Lego-like blocks. Thanks for telling me about nano-blocks. That seems like just the thing that would be good for my kids without breaking the bank.
My first Lego set was obi-wan’s delta 7 Jedi Starfighter. I think I had some various Lego pieces outside that, but no Lego sets that i can remember. My nephews got much bigger into Lego than I did.

I got the exact same extra pieces in mine. Most of the kits last year had extras so it's not a surprise.
